So today is the first day of the M&S 12 Days of Christmas Advent rewards on the app.

I've got a free M&S Tea Light Up Lantern - looks lovely but I don't drink tea. But it is free... tricky! It does say I have 11 days to use though, which is good.

I am completely underwhelmed. I don't drink ordinary tea. I go for green generally so I won't use them. Dh and DS2 only drink Barrys and ds1 and dd only drink coffee.

Ah well, my mother will take it off me. That's assuming they have any in stock as I won't be in town until friday. If it was something decent, I'd take a detour when I'm in the office on tuesday.

Thanks for the tips on collecting. DM tried the megastore M+S near her today and was told the stocking lights were long gone.

Agree with person who said it feels like a a trap to get you in there and spending when they don't have enough freebies to go round.

I agree with a previous poster why not just offer a generic discount code e.g 10% off your weekly shop. It would be much more of a prize than random amounts off stuff people are unlikely to be buying.

Day 1 was very lucky for me, as I got a free bottle of prosecco, which was in stock at my local store. Since then ... not so much, but the prosecco ensures my good will.

Offers which aren't available for people at their local store (eg hand cream not sold there) are very poorly targeted. You'd think they would have an algorithm for that.

Perhaps everyone will "win" a good freebie by the end, but I do wonder whether M&S have failed to manage expectations.
