Bonkers Conspiracy Theories

Well, they're all bonkers, to be fair.

Which conspiracy theories do you think are the most ludicrous?
That there is a microchip in the Covid vaccine seems to me to be one of the strangest.

HappyAxolotl · 01/12/2022 05:50

Anything to do with Covid being deliberately released. What good would it do any country or group to have the disease running rampant, killing many and having many others unable to work, at the same time societies are in lockdown? Who would benefit from any of this? It simply makes no sense but the conspiracy theorists want us to believe that many countries who do not normally speak to each other have launched a plot jointly to kill 1000s of their citizens and destroy much of their economies, to no obvious end?

It’s mad that in the past we’ve thought ‘that can’t be true’… and it ends up being true! Like how our devices listen to us (especially Alexa!) and how the Covid vaccines have some nasty side effects (menstrual cycle issues, blood clots etc). Media ran with these stories and now most people realise ‘oh shit, that’s real.’ I think the Flat Earth theory is strange though. Also the replacements for celebs who have died like Avril Lavigne and Paul McCartney.

True are they? 🙄

Suzi888 · 01/12/2022 06:36

@knittingaddict Yup- Alexa really does listen to you and upload everything to the cloud once activated. I thought this was common knowledge.

These are both "not in the past" past though are they? They are since QAnon got up and running.

Any pre-internet examples that are now perfectly reasonable?

It doesn't listen to everything you say though and upload it. Just when triggered. Of course a voice activated device "listens" to you. It's how it works. That's not really proof of anything more sinister. I don't have an alexa, by the way.

Also the covid side effects. Of course there are some side effects and that's totally normal too. A whole conspiracies worth of blood clots? I don't think so.

Passthecheeseboard · 01/12/2022 06:50

Some dude I work with won’t drink tap water, he says it’s got poison in it that the government put in the water to dumb down the population 🤦‍♀️

So instead of a healthy hydrating drink of water he will sit their drinking energy drinks and cola … real healthy huh?🤨

Passthecheeseboard · 01/12/2022 06:52

Also my dad thinks Alexa is a real person and talks to the Alexa like she is, always says ‘thank you sweetheart’ to her whenever he asks the Alexa a question.🤣

Noelfieldingsjumpers · 01/12/2022 06:53

What? I really thought the moon landing was fake Blush I thought my DH was winding me up, but he made some valid points. He doesn't believe in any other theories though! Why don't they do it again? Genuine questions if anyone knows. I feel a fool!

Passthecheeseboard · 01/12/2022 06:54

I’m not sure the moon landing was real, like how come we haven’t been back??🤔

Yes my friend believes the government adds excessive fluoride to drinking water to sedate the population. Why the government wants a sedated country is beyond me.

I suppose the all the water they use to make those drinks is poison free, then.

We went back another 5 times.

I'm surprised by how few water companies put fluoride in the water. Ours doesn't and I was a bit disappointed.

My fave one is that the Kardashians are keeping Rob fat for a supply of fat cells for their plastic surgery.

Yeah they do actually put fluoride in the water, but it’s too hell your teeth. I think it started in areas where they thought people had higher decay?

I know they do, but not as many as you would think. I looked it up recently.

I love conspiracy theories!
Top ones for me are Denver international airport - the giant blue horse (why?), the tunnels, the weird murals.

Flat earthers are truly bonkers.

Thereare quite a few theories about the moon - hollow moon, structures on the moon, the moon is an alien base - which are all good distracting ones.

Paul McCartney is dead theory is also crazy and worth a look at.

I was going to say DIA too, the whole thing is very odd. Apparently the horse killed the sculptor too!

You should try reading from time to time. I’m hardly a conspiracy theorist:

www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/blog/amazons-alexa-never-stops-listening-to-you/amp/

An article in Bloomberg revealed that Amazon employs thousands of people, including some outside the US, to transcribe and annotate Alexa requests in an effort to improve the voice assistant’s performance. The company says the information is anonymous and encrypted, but the Bloomberg article states that the recordings analyzed by Amazon’s transcribers can include first names, device serial numbers, and account numbers. It’s also unclear whether all that information is linked in a way that would let employees identify the user or household.

Women are being dismissed by doctors for the side effects that have affected their lives. Painful, delayed, heavy periods. Including post menopausal women. Read all of this:

www.washingtonpost.com/wellness/2022/09/27/covid-vaccine-period-late/

Other research has suggested that the vaccines have a variety of effects on periods. A survey published last fall collected information about periods and vaccines from 160,000 people — including transgender and postmenopausal people — and found that thousands reported heavier bleeding than usual or breakthrough bleeding.

HairyMcLarie · 01/12/2022 08:10

Denver Airport as a PP has mentioned. You read about the first couple of things and think 'oh that's a bit odd' and then after the 20th odd thing you think 'oh errrr... WTF' and then after weird thing number 50 you are a fully signed up swivel eyed conspiracy loon because the place is FUCKING BATSHIT

howaboutchocolate · 01/12/2022 08:57

@GelPens1 They're only analysing the commands you ask Alexa. Surely it's obvious that the things you ask her are sent somewhere otherwise how would it work. If you've activated Alexa to listen, don't go talking about bombs and stuff maybe. It only sends data off once you say "Alexa", it isn't recording everything you say. That's been verified a bazillion times by people checking how often it sends data to be translated.
