If you had a chance to vote again for Brexit would it be leave or remain?

Just saw a poll which said Public support for Brexit is at an all-time low, with one in five Brexiteers now saying they think it was wrong to vote to leave the EU. If you had a chance to vote again how would you vote - trying to make it a goady thread so feel free not to mention if you were remain or leave last time.

For me - I'd vote remain

Leave again

Alot of paperwork and expense and red tape now thanks to brexit. And you want that to be the case if someone gets say a weeks supply teaching in a neighbouring town?? Give your head a wobble. You're nuts.

Hmm, an unrepentant leave voter even now and Trump lest we forget got 77 million votes before being drafted. There's nowt as queer as folk ..

Indeed. Mind blown.

I will always vote for Freedom. Leave every time. If there was a referendum on England to leave the UK I'd vote leave. If there was a referendum on my county to leave England, I'd vote leave. If there was a referendum on my town to leave my county, I'd vote leave. If there as a referendum on my street to leave my town, I'd vote leave. and so on and so on. The smaller and more local government is, the better for everyone.

You know countries fail because of isolationism?I suggest you read Paul Kennedy's book.

A complete demonstration why we are in such a bad place with thinking like this. Do us all a favour and go and live off grid on a deserted island.

Remain and remain again

It's not isolationism. I've no problem with countries having trade deals etc with other countries. But the EU is a lot more than that, and gradually they were taking more and more control of our lives. It just wasn't working.

Lonelycrab · 20/11/2022 19:30

Yes, in effect, of course it is. The idea we “can do” whatever we want with no effect on any of our neighbors is childlike.

Youre looking at the situation re trade deals with a sort of fantasy that doesn’t exist apart from in your mind. They take years to form and there aren’t any on offer in case you hadn’t noticed.

But the EU is a lot more than that
Is an EU army about to be forced upon anyone? Have Turkey entered? Has the EU collapsed yet? Those things were all supposed to happen.

and gradually they were taking more and more control of our lives
Can you give me an example of an Eu law that really impacted your life?
An EU law I really liked was the ability to swim freely without being in sewage.

It just wasn't working
What we have now is a political, social, economic and moral dead end. That’s where we’ve all been led.

Florenz · 20/11/2022 19:37

Things were always going to be tough after leaving the EU, they have so much control over the entire continent and they were always going to punish us for have the temerity to leave. But we need to tough it out, it will be worth it in the long run.

The EU army and Turkey joining the EU haven't happened yet, but it's what they want and both will happen if the EU can stay in existence for long enough. It's so obvious.

Lonelycrab · 20/11/2022 19:44

nonsense.

These are your imaginations and I think you have issues.

but it's what they want

They? What, the blob/swamp that needs draining/msm? Maybe it’s the liberal elite.

The EU army thing was debunked so many times. UK always had a veto over it.

And even if it was true, most European nations would have a proud military tradition and would want to retain their own independent military capabilities.

It is.

We live in a global world where countries have to cooperate, compromise and negotiate. I suggest you go and have a look at how other trading blocs work.

Then look at how many countries belong to them.

Then look at what happens to those that don't.

Florenz · 20/11/2022 22:46

If all the EU was was a trading bloc, Brexit wouldn't have happened. I've no problem with co-operation, compromise or negotiation. But the EU wasn't willing to do any of those things. It was their way or the highway. We chose the highway.

lightisnotwhite · 20/11/2022 22:54

FlorettaB · 17/11/2022 14:47

I think those voting remain did so on the basis of facts. Those voting leave voted on feeling. The facts now show that Brexit is going to be up to twice as damaging to the British economy as COVID. So remain voters have more reason to support remain and leave voters will continue to follow feelings over facts.

Who comes up with this rubbish. Feelings and facts my arse.
My DH had all the facts to prove it was going to decimate his industry. He has never been so busy.
Damaging in the short term maybe. Most change is. People voted leave for the long term. Why another bloody thread from a Remainer about it?

That is completely against your first few posts upthread. You were talking about your street leaving your town, so how can a trading bloc appeal to you?

it sounds like you are making it up as you go along. Farage did that.

Absolutely. Just look at what’s happening now in Ukraine. There is no way France, Poland, Romania and others would ever give up their armies or their defence industries in favour of a centralised European army. This is one thing that’ll never happen.

Do you actually know anything about trading blocs and how they function?

pompomdaisy · 21/11/2022 13:19

Remain as it was originally but the fools were allowed to run the show!

Knight900 · 21/11/2022 19:26

I truly fail to understand why anyone would still vote leave given the avalanche of economic data which (as widely predicted) have made Brexit simply unworkable. If you are still voting leave you are either stupid or just outright ignorant ( or just embarrassed). No wonder the vocal supporters of vote leave had such an easy task convincing you to vote for a monumental act of national self harm.

Before leave voters throw the “we won get over it argument” just remember we had the best trading deal in Europe - it made the UK a magnet for investment which is now slowly being unwound.

Knight900 · 21/11/2022 19:29

Florenz - your stupid view highlights my point.

The only thing i regret is that it occured just before a pandemic and the chaos it caused had chaos heaped upon it.

A pandemic that was being predicted for years and yet Brexiteers claim they didn't know about it.
