If you had a chance to vote again for Brexit would it be leave or remain?

Just saw a poll which said Public support for Brexit is at an all-time low, with one in five Brexiteers now saying they think it was wrong to vote to leave the EU. If you had a chance to vote again how would you vote - trying to make it a goady thread so feel free not to mention if you were remain or leave last time.

For me - I'd vote remain

i don't feel superior, just really sad.

I voted Leave, and would again without hesitation. Yes all you Remainers out there, I must be as mad as a box of frogs. I assure you I’m not.
Economies all over the world are struggling, it’s called Covid.

At least engage in actual debate rather than just flinging insults around.

As per my earlier post it is not just COVID. The UK has had stagnant GDP growth for 40 years. The green energy minister whatever he’s called was on radio 4 this morning and was asked 3 times how Brexit has benefitted businesses. There was not a single answer. There is more paperwork not less as promised, there are labour shortages, the pound is weak so import of materials is expensive and less investment as the markets have tanked.

We can agree to disagree but throwing around insults no one has actually said is what makes you sound like an idiot.

vera99 · 24/11/2022 10:37

Government spokespeople never even bother to defend Brexit anymore they fall back it was the democratic will of the people line in the sense of you wanted it we just tried to implement it so don't bother us with detail.

All over the country are huge expensive white elephants as monuments to making us all poorer. Let them eat 'sovereinty'.

BirmaBrite · 24/11/2022 11:54

@vera99 imagine what other things that £200 million could have been spent on instead of giant redundant boxes ?

It's utterly criminal what they have done and at the peak, during covid 30,000 civil servants beavering away to build this empire of pointless, worse-than-useless dust and still the Leavers won't tell us what they have "won" apart from remainer tears. It is clear to anybody with a brain that we have all lost, and lost big.

Exasperatednow · 24/11/2022 13:17

If something needs this much defending for this long maybe it isn't any good.

vera99 · 24/11/2022 15:50

Did the leavers actually get their country back - the one they had lost way back when and what are they doing with their newfound "freedoms"?

von1471 · 24/11/2022 18:32

I knew the remainers would get upset at my comment earlier about voting to leave because of course, you’re so right and always will be and, seriously it’s not worth wasting my time having a debate with you because whatever I say you’re right, except that the majority of people think you’re not, because you lost. Get over it and move on, it’s called democracy.
The sad thing is you call people who don’t agree with you as delusional, misinformed or just plain ignorant - how sad that you can’t accept someone else’s point of view, are you like that about everything. If we don’t agree with you we must be all of those things.

The devil is in the detail. So rather than "yaboo we won" how have you personally benefited from us leaving the EU? I'm genuinely interested.

Dreikanter · 24/11/2022 18:40

because you lost. Get over it and move on, it’s called democracy.

Tell me again, what did you “win”?

BTW, the UK always had sovereignty so you’ll need to find something else.

How is “controlling the borders” going for you?

Mydogatemypurse · 24/11/2022 18:42

Id vote remain again

Florenz · 24/11/2022 19:04

What is the point of threads like this? Ask people a question with 2 possible answers and then insult the people who answered one of the two ways? What purpose does it serve?

Well to be fair what other conclusion can myself who voters remain come to other than the simple, irrefutable fact that if you had voted leave, you must be ignorant of the blatant facts just staring you in the face. Whether you find that difficult to understand is frankly irrelevant. I notice that very few leavers are able to articulate in a coherent manner as to why they voted leave - a simple and very sad fact.

Knight900 · 24/11/2022 19:08

I would like to add “von1471” - i am genuinely curious as to your reasons ( and your continued reason for voting leave ).

Ok - why on gods earth did we vote to leave the most valuable, prosperous free trading bloc on the planet - only to make ourselves poorer ? ( in every way )

Perhaps answer that in a coherent, intellectual manner with a clear fact based vision for the future and then we will begin to understand why you voted leave.

I strongly suspect…. You cannot 🧐

von1471 · 24/11/2022 19:12

Other than telling you that you must be right I can’t see what insults I’ve thrown, although you seem to be sending plenty my way.

These threads are mostly remainers. I’d like to hear more from Leave voters but they are probably just giving them a swerve.

Yes because leavers do not have any facts to offer

very simple …

Well, what point does any thread serve? Brexit isn't a moment in time it's a process that started with a small majority voting to leave in 2016 with many promises made. Now in 2022 with the benefit of hindsight, it is time to reflect and examine how (if we are) better off and the onus to explain that lies with leavers that voted to upset the status quo. Since we are getting nothing in terms of tangible personal benefits it is fair to say there aren't any. As to downsides, we could list them until the cows come home.

Because a lot of people didn't like being in the EU and didn't perceive there being any benefit to them of being in it. The government asked the people a question, the people gave their answer, and the government acted upon it. That is democracy in its purest form.

That sounds like a cop out to me ..

If you unable to articulate your view - what conclusion can I make other than you are just unaware of the basic facts.

I genuinely feel so sorry for those people who thought leaving the most powerful prosperous trading bloc in history would make us better off.

Really sad

But you still think that leaving was a good choice - what tangible real benefits please - and not slogans? Is it about how you feel?

It's the bastards in positions of power that stirred up this hornet's nest I reserve my unbridled anger for - compassion for the conned but contempt for the conners...
