Aaaarrrgggh.

I've basically been coughing for 5 days, day and night. Lost my voice, sore throat, head/neck/ear ache.

Multiple negative covid tests. About 5 other people I know have had this and it's gone on for 2-3 weeks.

I'm going insane. Coughing so much that I'm gagging. Sad

Can I ask the people having bad long symptoms, have you had Covid-19 before in the last two years?

Sunshineandrainbow · 14/11/2022 00:49

Week 5 of cough here and nothing helps it. Coughing so much I wet myself.

CallieQ · 14/11/2022 00:54

I had that for around a month but stupidly had covid booster in the middle of it which I think made it worse Confused

Yes it’s awful. My whole family have it.

It makes me gag, and I’ve thrown up due to the cough 5 times now. My pelvic floor is quite strong usually, but this bloody cough has made me piss myself a bit too.

charabang · 14/11/2022 01:05

Week three of coughing, headache, low level nausea and chills . Have tested negative 3 times but it really feels the same as when I had Covid in June.

Cwcwbird · 14/11/2022 01:16

Yes we have some sort of cough virus - I don't think it is covid in our case. We are on the ons study and my son tested positive for covid with no symptoms around 2 weeks ago. 4 or 5 days ago he started coughing and got a temp. He's now testing negative on a lft. As am I with the same symptoms. We've both had a cough, High temp and headache. He seems to be improving now so I'm hoping it won't last that long

pinkpeoniesmakemesmile · 14/11/2022 01:17

I'm on week 4 of it and still not right. Weeks 1 and 2 were so much worse than the last I had confirmed covid. I still have a slight cough and congestion, but absolutely horrendous joint pain. I really hope you all feel better soon.

Try first thing in morning, I was negative till I tested first thing in morning. I always feel extra rough in morning so think that’s means there’s more virus in you.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 14/11/2022 02:01

I'm going into week 3 with it. It's covid but I didn't test positive for the first whole week, weirdly. Starting to feel better in every way except for the bloody cough. It's misery, can't sleep once it gets going, gagging, wetting myself.
1st time covid, had 3 jabs.
I have some codeine pills but scared to take them, they slow down my breathing and give me eerie dreams & constipation. Plus v addictive.
What joy.

blueshoes · 14/11/2022 02:19

My son has had a bad cough and sore throat for almost a week. Off school for 3 days which is a long time for him. Bad whopping-sounding cough. He has just lost his voice.

@Miss03852, you asked whether about whether people with bad symptoms have had Covid-19 before in the last two years. Ds has never had covid before, not to his knowledge anyway. Neither dh nor I caught it from him and we have both had covid twice.

millerpie · 14/11/2022 02:23

I’m two weeks in with the horrendous coughing. Still awake as worse when laying down.

LearnerCook · 14/11/2022 02:33

I can't sleep again tonight because of the cough, the sinus pain and headache. I feel very congested and I've had nausea a few times, too. As for the fatigue, I feel like I'm having a Fibromyalgia flare, it's so bad.

Me & my husband only had Covid in July. Can you get it again so soon? We've both done a couple of LFTs and they were all negative. Now I'm worrying that there's some new strain or mutation that the tests can't puck up!

Teacakexo · 14/11/2022 02:47

I have this and it’s driving me insane it’s been 2 weeks now, sore heads, earache, sweats and the horrendous cough :( I can’t sleep and my chest is in agony from constant coughing. I have been sick multiple times from a coughing fit. I haven’t phoned in sick to work in 8 years but today I will have to, totally fed up. If anyone finds anything to help, please post some tips

RagzRebooted · 13/11/2022 23:03

That sounds more like flu.

I wondered whether it might be, but I was only in bed with it for a day. I probably should have been the other days but we've been moving house so no choice but to be up and about. I don't think I'd have had the choice at all if I'd had the flu, though, from what people say of it? I think it's just a really shitty cold-y thing, but certainly not one I'm keen to repeat ever again!

Ilovepugs2017 · 14/11/2022 10:39

I have this too. Will be a week tomorrow & feeling absolutely dreadful.

TheMousePipes · 14/11/2022 10:41

Yes we have it in our house too. So sick of coughing and I feel like I’ve had a bad hangover for the last two weeks. And I’m knackered - absolutely shattered all the time.

AriettyHomily · 14/11/2022 10:42

Me too. I've had to take the day off sick today As didn't sleep at all last night at all because of the fucking coughing.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/11/2022 10:42

Yes, horrible cold that kept me in bed for 2 days - unheard of for me. Terribly tired, zero energy, and feeling generally shite. Coughing so much I’ve had to resort to pant liners.
After 2 weeks feeling rather better in myself, but still coughing like mad.

I’ve had ‘proper’ flu just once, so I really don’t think it’s that - just a particularly vicious sort of cold.

Jaffacakeorisitabiscuit · 14/11/2022 10:46

DH had it - off work 3 days and hacking, horrible, uncontrollable cough - his ribs still hurt nearly fortnight later. Cough has improved but still there several times a day. He did 2 COVID tests 3 days apart, both negative. I avoided it completely.

HippyChickMama · 14/11/2022 10:50

I'm just at the end of it, had it for 3 weeks. Both dc have had it, dd has ongoing ear issues and has ended up with glue ear again on the back of it. Dh is about a week behind so is now at 2 weeks and has phoned in sick to work today and is in bed, this is very unusual for him

Skiphopbump · 14/11/2022 10:51

One of my DDs had.a similar virus three times since August, she passed the middle one on to DD2 and I and it was awful- much worse than the covid I had a couple of weeks after I recovered!
DD is still coughing and has been given an inhaler as she gets out of breath walking normally.

ChicCroissant · 14/11/2022 10:53

I have had it for a few days, tested positive for COVID this morning unfortunately.

Alexandra2001 · 14/11/2022 11:00

My DD had a fever cough fatigue, 4 days later, ran a brilliant XC race... me on the other hand, being old 😂have similar symptoms.... feel like death warmed up.

Particularly pissed off as i had a flu type bug a few weeks ago.

Neither of us have tested positive for CV, DD had a PCR too, odd, i do wonder if CV has gone away or the tests don't work on the newer variants?

TrashyPanda · 14/11/2022 11:04

Not sure if it is connected or a coincidence, but kennel cough is rife among dogs this year.

blueshoes · 14/11/2022 11:54

I also wonder whether people's houses are now colder to reduce energy usage and that reduces immunity and/or makes symptoms last longer.
