I love a good does this look positive thread. I don't care if it's pregnancy test or covid.

Parking threads are always interesting as well!

Anything

AnApparitionQuipped · 13/11/2022 18:55

I like nostalgia threads - like the advert one running earlier today.

Also discussions of books/films/tv - obviously, if it's something I've watched myself.

'Interesting anecdote' threads are good to settle down with, CF stories, 'Woo' threads and so on.

I agree with @Topgub - I enjoy a debate if it can be had without ad hominem attacks and so on - I also agree it would be nice to have an 'impersonal debate' space where you could express opinions without fear of hurting feelings in relation to an individual's personal circumstances.

WhatIsThisPlease · 13/11/2022 18:56

I like the ghost story threads. And the 'which celebrity was mean in real life'.

Anything

Fair enough maybe suggest it in the "site stuff"? See if there's enough interest?

Samcro · 13/11/2022 18:58

To love the should I pay to reserve a seat on a plane threads
no idea why am I do fly

LadyApplejack · 13/11/2022 18:58

I like a property thread, specifically where the OP posts the link to their house and people suggest ways to help it sell!

Wotwotwotwotwot · 13/11/2022 18:59

I like the sociological type ones. Where posters make sweeping assumptions about people - usually their class or nationality -based on weird criteria

Sparklingbrook · 13/11/2022 19:04

There must be websites out there that are specifically for debating?

NashvilleQueen · 13/11/2022 19:04

My favourite type, which is typified by the joy that was Balonz, is where someone comes on with a ridiculous OP designed to poke fun or provoke us and the MN massive just runs with it and fires off endlessly hilariously funny replies.

Topgub · 13/11/2022 19:07

I'm sure there are @Sparklingbrook

I have never known a parking thread with a juicy update. They either fizzle out or 'the car has gone'.

There was a brilliant one a few months back - was the inspiration for one of my user names!
It was about a road being closed for 2 days (think for resurfacing) and we had diagrams and photographs, live updates, irate drivers, roads with funny names (maybe Wibbly Wobbly Bottom or similar)and a giant dog!
Lasted for both days and cars were being towed away etc - was obviously moved to Classics. I’ll see if I can find it… well worth a read

MarshaBradyo · 13/11/2022 19:22

I don’t know why but I like a have you put your heating on yet thread

Just simple everyday and I have a hive now so know the house temperature

Cucumberbund · 13/11/2022 19:23

I love the house renovation threads or room layout threads. Where the poster needs a solution to some problem.
Also the 'crush' threads but not if either person is married.

I'll have to get some snacks before reading that there's 10 pages of debate about pizza scissors?

This one made me chuckle lots… and blew my tiny mind!

Never thought of using scissors but now going to try it 🤣 and the discussion around using the box as a chopping board etc… !! Brilliant fun

StrangerOnline · 13/11/2022 19:32

Oh - and not just pizza… apparently people cut chicken with scissors too!

I learnt a lot today 😄

mothertrucking · 13/11/2022 19:32

The pizza cutting three has made my local newspaper 😂

I enjoy the personal anecdote threads, eg the worst/best gifts, first date, Christmas, birthday, etc etc. Especially if I’m late to the party and it’s a good 500 comments long.

AllThatAndMore · 13/11/2022 19:36

Christmas is my favourite! When I first discovered mumsnet I was pregnant and that’s what drew me in . I still love a good pregnancy thread . I also love travel, AIBU and the weight loss/exercise threads !

I also like the social class threads 🫢! The U.K. is so obsessed with it and I find it so fascinating! I’m not from the U.K originally!

Sparklingbrook · 13/11/2022 19:41

I don't find the UK to be obsessed with class but MN definitely is.

Mittens1717 · 13/11/2022 19:42

The woo threads and the what's for dinner threads

TheDuchessOfMN · 13/11/2022 19:49

I love to see where people are going on holidays and what they cost, what they’ve bought for Christmas.

And on the other side, I’m fascinated and impressed by people who can live so frugally. I often read those threads.

louderthan · 13/11/2022 21:02

Can't bear a good CF thread, especially if it develops and updates over a few days!
