It's Friday, you want something delicious and easy to cook but can't stretch to a takeaway. What are you having?

We're having super noodles with chopped up hot dogs.

Nothing beats a nasty Friday tea.

Homemade chilli and nachos with homemade guacamole and salsa

Fish finger sandwiches! Yum

Our go to meal is always topped fries…

Frozen fries, crispy bacon, frozen breaded chicken, nacho cheese sauce, franks hot sauce and lashings of extra mature cheddar cheese….

We’ve had it twice this week because it’s easy and delicious.

Quick favourite of mine is pasta, with pesto and frozen spinach and peas stirred through it, cut up tomatoes, fried mushrooms in lazy garlic and what ever cheese we have, plus extra basil leaves. Sometimes add roast peppers from a jar, olives and/or courgettes.

@mrsharrisgoestoparis tinned spuds are brilliant. I have big and small tins. I use one small tin for two people, you empty them into a saucepan and add extra water to cover them, heat gently for 6 to 8 mins. You can chop them small and fry, add them to all sorts of dishes, my favourite is a spinach and potato curry done with frozen spinach. Love tinned spuds. I find Sainsbury own brand the best, in the reddish brown tin. The super cheap brands sometimes come out with harder potatoes in them I find so there ends up being more waste.

We had Charlie Bigham's curry - I only buy it when it's on special offer. I think it's nicer than takeaway and also cheaper.

Goldenphoenix · 12/11/2022 07:43

I make this really simple spaghetti. Fry frozen king prawns off. Fry few cloves of garlic with chopped up sun dried tomatoes and some chilli flakes. Mix with spaghetti, voila! Tastes delicious and ready in ten minutes

I bought 2x microwave curry in Aldi, the specially selected ones for 2, with rice, naan, and spring rolls (samosa substitute). Was a decent enough takeaway substitute for a tenner for 3/4 of us.

The aldi curries, naan breads etc are really tasty and a great takeaway alternative imho. The wine and beer is also really good quality and really well priced too.

What are everyone's plans for tonight? Mine involve copious amounts of white wine, nuts, crisps, dips and Strictly.

IHeartGeneHunt · 12/11/2022 16:05

Tonight, Matthew, I'm having chickpea and spinach curry done in the slow cooker.
Couldn't resist the Stars in Their Eyes reference sorry!

Squeezylemonsqueezy · 12/11/2022 16:09

Hahahaha, tonight I shall mostly be stuffing my face with crisps and booze with a side of trash TV and something extremely lazy and unhealthy like a frozen pizza.

confusedlots · 12/11/2022 16:09

I've started getting those Indian or Chinese meals for 2 in the supermarket some weekends when I can't be bothered to cook. They're around £7 or £8 but I still feel like I'm having a takeaway!

toastedcat · 12/11/2022 16:10

Prawn toasts, one of those little party packs with loads of sweet chilli sauce 🍤

Curtayne · 12/11/2022 16:14

Pasta with cheese and tuna, super simple and quick but delicious! Usually on Fridays if its been a busy week we make sure we have a frozen pizza and some oven chips in, not the most exciting but easy and hits the spot.

Someone on a different thread was saying that they had changed the recipes for some of the Charlie Bigham meals.Would be a shame if this was for the worse,as the fish pie was always a lovely treat in our house.

Sigma33 · 12/11/2022 16:19

Curse all of you that suggested nachos, chilli and guacamole! I am now going to have to go the shop for nachos and guac (have the ingredients for chilli already...)

Lilyofthewally · 12/11/2022 16:20

My 12 year old is cooking for us both tonight,so I don't know what we'll be eating, but I'm a bit excited and also delighted that I don't need to (hopefully) lift a finger👌

Confusion101 · 12/11/2022 16:32

I'm giving into the take away tonight

Robotichypnotic · 12/11/2022 16:40

riotlady · 12/11/2022 16:41

We always do a big pepperoni pizza and garlic bread on a Friday night, and eat it on the sofa. Bliss!

We have got a Thai takeaway box from sainsburys. Will have with extra rice crackers and my favourite bottle of red is already out on the kitchen counter. Can't wait for a relaxing evening and trash on the telly after a hectic week.

RedFluffySofa · 12/11/2022 17:51

Cheese night.

Four nice cheeses, a pack of crackers, a bunch of grapes - maybes random left over chutneys/pickles/olives whatever all on a big board - eaten by the light of the tv.
