It's Friday, you want something delicious and easy to cook but can't stretch to a takeaway. What are you having?

We're having super noodles with chopped up hot dogs.

Nothing beats a nasty Friday tea.

Sauteed tomatoes, garlic, chilli, prawn spaghetti with fresh lemon juice . Easy and yum.

DoubleNit · 11/11/2022 19:40

Garlic and herb king prawns from Lidl with gnocchi.

silentpool · 11/11/2022 19:41

Homemade pizza. I do the dough before I leave for work and when I get home it's ready to go. I part baked and froze a second base, which will make it ever quicker next time.

Cinnamonandcoal · 11/11/2022 19:43

Chicken noodle soup

Gufo · 11/11/2022 19:45

Spanish people, look away now.

Had chicken, peas, pepper and onion in the freezer and found a schwarz paella sachet and some long grain rice in the cupboard. It was delicious!

@WoodlandWalks123 Yes! There’s two recommended ones. I found mine completely by chance one Friday night when I nipped in on the drive home for milk and everyone was queuing for them and I got some because I had FOMO. Now we never get takeaways anymore - they have so much more meat and each tub does two of us.

Oh how amazing! We are thinking of moving to this village which is why I know of it, we are outside the area at the moment. Is it starting with A and ending with n?!

Mummysgonetobed · 11/11/2022 19:56

Gnocchi with a fresh ready made pasta sauce, sprinkle of parmesan and black pepper. Done in 5 minutes.

We are having Indian curry but from a local shop where the amazing shopkeeper makes really authentic homemade ones. So not quite a takeaway, but even better!

I'll make the rice at home and we've got Aldi naan and popadoms

That sounds flipping amazing.

Nom.

Spanielsarepainless · 11/11/2022 20:13

Stirred honey, grainy mustard, soya sauce, Worcestershire sauce and double cream together. Added salmon fillets. Microwaved for five minutes. Had with brown rice and vegetables. Delicious.

Crayfishforyou · 11/11/2022 20:16

Omelette, with tomatoes mushrooms and ham.

My DP is Spanish and he'd prefer that to PP who has chorizo in hers. If I had a pound for every time he's said what is wrong with British people chorizo doesn't go in paella, we'd have enough for a very nice meal out.

I'm American and he wanted to give our kid strong American names like Keith or Bruce, so his opinion shall be discounted anyway! 🤣

We have been staying in and doing fakeaways as we cant afford the real thing at the moment. Our favourite is Simply Cook and if anyone wants 4 free recipes with no p&p or obligation to order more then
www.simplycook.com/invite/N6FYNV?t=cp&pg=ref&via=dt
and we both get a completely free box.

CornishGem1975 · 11/11/2022 20:44

I've just used your code @Toadymalone I use Gousto at times but never tried Simply Cook - it appeals because I can swap out ingredients or there's no time pressure because things are going off!

Toadymalone · 11/11/2022 20:47

That's exactly what we like,if I had to deal with perishables,it would put me under pressure, but I like the fact we can do a recipe, as and when suits us.Has the added bonus of tasting like a takeaway/bit of a treat meal as well.Hope you enjoy 😊

rosegoldwatcher · 11/11/2022 20:50

Thank you for this thread. It has made me think (slightly) beyond a baked potato for dinner.
In the oven we have paprika and garlic potato wedges. Ready, on the countertop are various small amounts of leftovers; homemade salsa and guacamole, baked beans (strictly for DH) and a tiny bit of chilli con carne. I have fresh cream and lemon juice to assemble soured cream.

Some peppery sausages will join the wedges in a mo.

Gherkingreen · 11/11/2022 20:53

We usually have supermarket pizza on Fridays (Tesco finest or the Crosta Mollica ones) but tonight we had one of our quick favourites - fresh pasta with smoked salmon, creme fraiche, cherry tomatoes, chopped basil, parmesan, black pepper.
Takes minutes, tastes amazing

Cococomelon · 11/11/2022 20:55

egg fried rice

beans on toast

pasta with homemade chilli & tomato sauce

Frozen birds eye burgers and fresh homemade chips

I’ve had a pork shoulder in the oven since 11.30. Plan to serve in buns with homemade wedges and slaw. Can’t bloody wait!

I never get anything good ! Random stuff like kiwi vegan yoghurt etc is all I find !

Laalaapopo · 11/11/2022 21:05

We have been using the Too good to go app on a fri/sat night and have had some really good takeaway bargains.I would really recommend. We have had carvery takeout for around £4 plus there is a lovely Chinese by us where you get a take out carton for £1 each instead of £5.It has been great for us.

Laalaapopo · 11/11/2022 21:06

The child in me really enjoys the surprise/lucky dip element of it as well as the price.

Divebar2021 · 11/11/2022 21:12

DD requested “crunchy” chicken so I made some with panko breadcrumbs and Cooked in the oven with home made chips and sweetcorn. Nursery food but it was good and not terribly unhealthy.

Dragnet14 · 11/11/2022 21:26

Sometimes, when I want a cheap but feels like a dirty takeaway kind of night I just do a big batch of chips and make up a sachet of the chip shop curry sauce you can get from asda/morrisons etc.U pour the curry sauce all over the chips, add some white sliced bread with loads of spread/butter and Bob's your uncle plus it feels like a takeaway for pennies.

Blancettyblanc · 11/11/2022 21:45

I love the mayflower Chinese curry sauce/paste that you can buy from asda and home bargains etc.I use it with chicken and peas and either rice or chips, and it makes a banging takeaway substitute
