Do you wash your clothes straight away if you have worn them to the dentist/doctor/restaurant?

It never occurred to me before the pandemic to do that but I am more aware of germs these days and I have also read on here about people not allowing ‘outdoor clothes’ on the bed which again would not have been on my radar. I would normally wear clothes again if they looked clean.

What do you do if the clothes are clean? Rewear them or wash them straight away?

No of course not.

CaronPoivre · 10/11/2022 07:48

Don’t be daft

GodisaBC · 10/11/2022 07:48

no of course I don’t

CocoLux · 10/11/2022 07:48

Of course not!

Mummieslncorporated · 10/11/2022 07:49

I rewear them. If anything dodgy has made it on to my clothes then it's probably already on my skin and hair. By that point, washing clothes when you get home is probably a bit too late.

TeenDivided · 10/11/2022 07:49

No I have never done this.

User438651209 · 10/11/2022 07:51

I had to check the date on this OP as I thought it was one of the troll revived threads, of course I wear my clothes again if they are clean

Snowisfallinghere · 10/11/2022 07:52

If I go on busy public transport, go to airport and on flights etc, or spend time in a hospital, I always put my clothes in the wash that evening even if they seem clean enough to wear again. I wouldn't usually get changed as soon as I get in through the door though, I'd just put them in the wash at the end of the day.

However, the outdoors clothes on the bed thing... Nope, I would not sit on my bed wearing clothes I've sat on buses and hospital waiting rooms etc. I don't let my kids muck around on my bed unless they're wearing clean clothes either. And ideally no handbags, rucksacks, suitcases or coats to be plonked on the bed. I'm not even a huge germophobe or neat freak, I just think the bed should be a protected clean zone.

medicatedgift · 10/11/2022 07:53

No.

Buckland123 · 10/11/2022 07:53

Id like to see the number of people who have actually caught an illness off their clothing. I bet it’s about 0.000009%. Paranoia gone through the roof.

AriettyHomily · 10/11/2022 07:55

Nope

Pung · 10/11/2022 07:55

No. Your clothes won't give you a disease. Honest.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 10/11/2022 07:55

I do, but I’m not normal.

I don’t wash them immediately, but they certainly do get washed. I try to wear clothes that are needing to be washed, rather than totally clean on that day. So jeans that have previously been worn.

I know I’m bonkers, I wish I could be more normal.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 10/11/2022 07:57

My cats sit on my lap after having been outside, I wear the same trousers the next day. My legs haven't fallen off yet.
This is MN craziness at its finest.

chelle0 · 10/11/2022 07:57

Absolutely I would. Even if I've had them on for half an hour.

toomuchlaundry · 10/11/2022 07:58

@chelle0 why?

Notsympatheticenough · 10/11/2022 08:01

No that would be mad and an also be environmental vandalism.

BarbaraofSeville · 10/11/2022 08:02

No, I don't need to change my clothes after being outside. I've installed air showers and UV sterilisers at all entrances to my home, because you just can't be too careful in The Fight Against Germs. It's the only way.

ofwarren · 10/11/2022 08:03

God no

Madeyoulook · 10/11/2022 08:03

I’ve never been a person who changes into comfy clothes as soon as I get in. I would continue to wear my work clothes around the house into the evening. It’s just more of an awareness now as I know that a lot of people do change and put everything in the wash.

thelobsterquadrille · 10/11/2022 08:04

No.

No wonder the environment is utterly fucked with people washing clothes they've only had on for a 30 minute dental appointment Hmm

Desmondo2021 · 10/11/2022 08:05

At the moment I'm literally only washing clothes that are actually dirty, as in with a dirty mark on them or starting to smell! The energy for laundry plus the airers all over the house needs to be minimised as much as poss!

BitOutOfPractice · 10/11/2022 08:08

Yes I change when I get home. But only for comfort. I only put dirty clothes in the wash. I certainly don’t wash clean clothes!

BarbaraofSeville · 10/11/2022 08:08

It’s just more of an awareness now as I know that a lot of people do change and put everything in the wash

Those people have issues.

@Desmondo2021 But why has it taken until now to stop washing clothes that don't need it? It's always been a waste of time, money and resources to do this, nothing's changed in that respect.

ichundich · 10/11/2022 08:09

It would never occur to me.
