What size are your DS12/13s feet??

Hi,
Just ordered the 2nd pair of school shoes for this year (Since September 7th) he also had 4 pairs last year. His feet seem to grow quicker than the rest of him and he’s already a 10.5.

He also wears them out so quickly, playing football at break and lunch just generally shoving his feet it to them without undoing laces (which I constantly moan at him about)

At £60/£70 a time I’m starting to think is it really worth buying Clarkes shoes?? When are his feet likely to stop growing?

Are you me? I have been asking this question since the weekend when my almost 13 year old needed both walking boots and trainers, now size 11. Very expensive. Rarely do they wear out though, not enough time for that. He's not even that tall yet so must have lots of growing to do.

School rules are relaxed enough to allow all back trainers but even they're about £60. Hopefully will stop growing soon!

OohMrDarcy · 09/11/2022 13:59

I've got a nearly 13 year old too,

not as big as yours but the school shoes I got him for september are a 5.5 and I've just had to replace his trainers to a 6.5 already.... have gone for cheap karrimor type as luckily he doesn't care about brands so I'll sneak through the cheap ones as long as I can! Will have to check his school shoes soon too now as they won't last much longer!

My ds is nearly 14. He’s in a size 9, it’s the amount of footwear he requires that scares me! School shoes (startrite £60). Then trainers for school sports, trainers for the weekend, now he needs walking boots for doing the D of E 😩

He’s only 5’4 at the moment so I’ve got a feeling he’s going to shoot up soon! Both DD are tall with quite big feet but I never remember their feet growing at the speed DS are!
I can always remember my mum saying to my brother (6’6 with size 15 feet) “I’m not buying any more shoes, you’ll have to wear the boxes!”

I can see why now!!

@MissyB1 exactly! DS has school shoes, PE trainers, football boots, astro boots, non school trainers x2….

I feel your pain-and sorry to say but at that age my DS shoe size was a 13.

As an adult it is a nightmare 15.

Younger DS petite by comparison at a 12.

MissyB1 · 09/11/2022 14:05

@GoodnightJude1
oh gosh yes I forgot about the footie boots and astros! It’s ridiculous how much they need!

GoodnightJude1 · 09/11/2022 14:07

@MrsMitford3

Can I ask how tall your sons are?

I’m presuming quite tall with feet that large!

OP posts:
MrsMitford3 · 09/11/2022 14:08

@GoodnightJude1 both a little over 6'2 so not terribly tall!

GoodnightJude1 · 09/11/2022 14:12

@MrsMitford3

I’m thinking my DS will be around that sort of height. My DD call him ‘Golf club’ because at the moment he’s not that tall with very big feet…

I’m sure they mean it in a loving way!

DS (13) is also 5’4 but ‘only’ a size 7.

Friolero · 09/11/2022 14:16

My DS is about to turn 13, his school shoes / trainers which we bought in August are size 7.5 and they still seem to fit ok.

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 09/11/2022 14:16

My DS' are older, but
DS1 (18) is 5ft10 with size 10 (maybe 10.5) feet. That's bigger than anyone in my family other than his dad so we all think his feet are huge. Clearly not judging from this thread.

DS2 (16) is about 5ft8, but only gas size 5.5 feet. Which is great as we can share trainers Grin

antipodeancanary · 09/11/2022 14:16

DS's were size 10 at primary school and age 27 are still a 10 now. He was 5'10 aged 11 and still is now. Saved me a fortune!

Meadowbreeze · 09/11/2022 14:17

I don't have a DS and DD 14 is thankfully a size 5 so still fits into kids but have you thought about buying a more sturdy shoe? Clarks are really not that great and as he fits into men's size there's lots of options. Not sure if he'd be interested but Dr Martins lasted my DD nearly 3 years before they gave up. This wouldn't happen to you as he's obviously growing out of them but I would still look at getting something more sturdy than Clarks, especially as they're really not cheap.

MissDollyMix · 09/11/2022 14:19

My DS in year 8 is currently wearing a size 3 😆Guess there’s not much chance of anyone taking his trainers!

Theunamedcat · 09/11/2022 14:19

Mine is in a 7 he is 8 in trainers though! His dad's feet were only a size 9 so I'm hoping he stops at a reasonable point

GoodnightJude1 · 09/11/2022 14:19

@antipodeancanary

Lucky you!!
My DD both have the same size feet as me (maybe .5 size bigger) and they both like borrowing my heels/boots. I didn’t mind till DD1 came home from a party with sick marks on my suede boots 😡

So was mine he grew fast...

GoodnightJude1 · 09/11/2022 14:21

@Meadowbreeze I’ll certainly keep them in mind for when his feet slow down a bit!

My DS is 13, he's around 5'6" with size 8 feet.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 09/11/2022 14:21

My Ds has just turned 13 is about 5”4 and wears a 7.

His dad only takes a 7 and I’m a 3 so who knows if they’ll grow any bigger. They’re super wide though! He’s also been going through Clark’s shoes quite quickly too.

GoodnightJude1 · 09/11/2022 14:22

@MissDollyMix

One of my DD friends (14) has size 2 feet! When she comes round I always chuckle to myself as her shoes look so tiny next to DD size 8s!

stayathomer · 09/11/2022 14:23

Have a 14 nearly 15 yo who is 5 ft 9 and he’s size 10 and a 13 yo 5ft 3 size 6 so huge difference!

Rockingcloggs · 09/11/2022 14:23

It's not just feet in our house! My son turned 11 two weeks ago, he's 5ft 6 and size 8 feet. Never ever wears either clothes or shoes out.
