For me, I would buy the Jo Malone advent calendar - i have just managed to get the Molton Brown one for my main christmas present for £166 ( will be doing all the opening on the day, not the lead up )

But cannot justify £350 on a present for myself.

What would you buy?

A Dyson air wrap.

Turmerictolly · 08/11/2022 10:37

A housekeeper to make the beds, clean and prep meals so they're ready by the time we get in from work.

A massage every other day would be heavenly too.

A trip to the dentist

Id like a really good laptop & printer,I know it's not a huge expense for some but as a single mother of 2 I can just about stretch to a cheap one that does what it needs 🤷🏻‍♀️

Chef

Another vote for the dentist appointment. Can’t afford private so haven’t been in years. I’ve got a couple of niggling teeth now so would get them sorted and maybe see about braces too if I was feeling very flush!

A Dyson air wrap.

Me too! I’d in awe of women who can curl their hair, I’ve tried doing it with my straightener and tongs and just look like I’ve electrocuted myself. Can’t help but feel an air wrap would solve all my hair related problems.

DarkKarmaIlama · 08/11/2022 10:46

@icebearforpresident

Maybe we should invest 😉. I can curl my hair it’s just too time consuming so I never bother.

A housekeeper who was a brilliant chef, house administrator and cleaner. Leaving me to focus on hanging with the kids, my work, and walking the dogs

BirmaBrite · 08/11/2022 11:03

Dental check ups for myself and my children, can't afford it at the moment because you have to pay to have work done beforehand and I don't have a spare grand, which is what I imagine it will cost for me ( although no issues other than needing a damn good hygeinist session ) and they won't take the children without an adult and no NHS places !

Once our teeth were sorted out, I would get the dogs done !

After that not really sure, maybe some new trainers ?

Mumsnet sponsored by National Lottery - you've got to be in it to win it ! 😂

Breakfast in a cafe every day, I love it 😆

PandaG · 08/11/2022 13:06

Gousto box most weeks, not just when they send an offer.
Professional cut and colour every 6 weeks or so, instead of box dye and irregular cuts.
Pair of handmade shoes from local maker. Had a pair of boots made with birthday and Christmas money 5 or so years ago, I wear them every day in autumn/winter and would love a pair of Mary Janes that fit as well for the summer.

Farmageddon · 08/11/2022 13:06

Mine wouldn't be an object, rather I would pay to get my hair washed and blowdried in a nice salon twice or three times a week.

My hair is unruly at the best of times, but it always looks lovely when they blow-dry it properly, which I never seem to be able to manage. I would feel so much more polished and put together everyday.

Mrsjayy · 08/11/2022 13:15

Oh when I win big I'm never washing/drying my own hair ever again .

bluechameleon · 08/11/2022 13:20

I'd have nice flowers every week. And I'd buy some big lego sets - I love building then but can't justify £100-£300 on them.

Heatherbell1978 · 08/11/2022 13:22

I have a crease between my eyebrows that could be sorted with about £300 of Botox I reckon!! Never had it done before and wouldn't do it unless I had a wee windfall of money.

FacebookPhotos · 08/11/2022 13:31

I would buy duvets that don't need duvet covers. A life of never again putting a duvet cover on sounds like absolute bliss to me.

whoruntheworldgirls · 08/11/2022 13:32

I'd try and find a dentist who could put me to sleep to do the work, i'd get my silver fillings removed and replaced with white ones (too scared and anxious to have it done awake due to the drilling and jaw ache, plus white fillings are expensive)
Some top quality wellies

Comefromaway · 08/11/2022 13:35

Of course all this is frivolous. If I won a significant amount of money the first thing I would do is to pay for my son's friend to have an operation he desperately needs that the NHS will not pay for.

Yes me too on the dentist.

Also probably the cleaner

Inmyhandbag · 08/11/2022 13:46

I'd get a rescue dog and a dog walker for the days I can't manage to go out. And a cat or two 🐕🐈🐈‍⬛

MorrisZapp · 08/11/2022 13:51

Having recently been a bridesmaid, I'd pay a lovely lady to comb and tease my hair into a Grace Kelly twist at least once a month.

PollyAmour · 08/11/2022 13:52

An apple watch.

I can only afford a fitbit, and a refurbished one at that.

My lady here in Edinburgh charges £200 and she teaches it internationally. Hit me up if any use.
