Maybe you should start a petition or complain to OFCOM?

Yep.

Sparklingbrook · 08/11/2022 09:35

He can earn a living out of the public eye

He doesn’t need to earn a living. 🤷‍♀️

WahineToa · 08/11/2022 09:35

Really, ‘clutching pearls’ is a pretty gross thing to write in a conversation about serious crimes. Gross.

It's easier when the artists are dead - you can appreciate their work and yet still go "what a nasty fucker he was when he was alive."

While they're alive tho, if convicted, you can not put them on mainstream media and not give the opportunities to make loads of money and have their reputations airbrushed. Doesn't mean they can't continue to make art/music or whatever, but does deny them the absolute privilege that is MSM validation.

Christ, we've had Saville and other people shielded by TV companies - I think we should demand more accountability for who they're putting in front of us, not less.

Agreed. Why is this okay?
Why was it even considered a possibility to put a convicted sex attacker on TV?

Chris Moyles isn’t someone I would describe as nice he’s said and done some horrible things. Just Google Chris moyles and Charlotte church/racism/homophobia/sexism etc and there’s numerous articles about his ‘controversies’.

You know 25 year old radio Chris was a “shock jock” character don’t you?

genuinely, he’s a nice bloke.

TrashyPanda · 08/11/2022 09:37

Im saying that society itself operates on the principal that people can be forgiven (I don’t expect the victims to forgive them) and continue with life

no.
there is no one, universal “society”

different societies deal with crime in different ways.

In most societies, child rapists are despised, even by the prison population and have to be kept in isolation. That is how abhorrent child rapists are. Why should they be forgiven, just because they have served a prison term? That doesn’t wipe out the crime

WahineToa · 08/11/2022 09:37

@Venetiaparties he’s also been on a bravo show every now and then over the last 5 years or so as his managers side is on it, Dorit Kemsley on housewives of BH. She calls him family. I don’t think many Americans are aware.

Of course he needs to earn a living. I am assuming Selfridges paid him to sit in the corner and play records. I am assuming he is not on TV for free.

He can get a job in the local supermarket like the other ex cons. He doesn't need to starve. He should never ever have been welcomed back on TV.

It is despicable. And yet there he is.

What does that tell you about the producers of the show?
The actors and presenters happy to go along with it?
Society as a whole?

TrashyPanda · 08/11/2022 09:38

WahineToa · 08/11/2022 09:33

Da Vinci, Picasso, many many many other male artists who are basically cornerstones of art have done very shady stuff.

Silly comparison. They’re not currently on a prime time show. She isn’t objecting to his music being played but him on a major show!

Exactly!

thank you

Namechangedforthisonetoday · 08/11/2022 09:39

zasar you baffle me quite unlike anyone else I’ve ever come across on here. You are presenting yourself so badly I’m hoping you are just fumbling your words to be honest. I’d be extremely concerned if you happen to hold a public position working with children, vulnerable people or offenders. Your views are extremely naive at best, dangerous at worst.

I, like many others on here, understand potential mitigating circumstances to heinous crimes. I understand a natural human inquisition to find ‘reasons’, ‘answers’ and some form of explanation or defence for an awful crime. The truth is though, that the outcome of the punishment should not be changed or watered down once those ‘explanations’ have been examined. As a society we seek to learn from any potential reasons as to why a crime has been committed (a man who has been brought up in a cycle of abuse/violence and goes on to commit further crimes for instance). What we find when we’ve looked for these answers should not mean that we forgive or seek to rehabilitate the offender where they have been involved in certain crimes. Roman Polanski raped a child. He also has an awful childhood and something terrible happen to him. It doesn’t absolve him of personal responsibility and it doesn’t mean that just because ‘something was a long time ago’ we should forgive and forget.

Women, children, prostitutes (whether male or female) are some of the most vulnerable in society and we should always seek to protect them. Crimes of child sexual abuse and rape are unforgivable imo. The offender should not be given a second chance and they should not be accepted back into society. The fact that you cannot see that is incredibly concerning.

WahineToa · 08/11/2022 09:39

Pedophiles aren’t. Most people wouldn’t be friends with someone who raped someone else either. I wouldn’t. I also wouldn’t associate with a violent offender because I’d be scared of them. I went no contact with a family member after a sexual assault conviction because, why would u trust them around my kids? Would you?

All very Z list stuff to an audience that have no idea he is a convicted sex attacker.

Damnautocorrect · 08/11/2022 09:40

i don’t think anyone convicted of a violent crime should be allowed on it. Regardless of repenting or doing the time

NCFT0922 · 08/11/2022 09:40

@Sparklingbrook interesting of you to state his worth and no need to work. We see many posts on here of how abusive men do anything to continue controlling their victims. It does make one question why he chose to do a prime time tv show that his victim would definitely hear about when, in your own words, he doesn’t need to work he’s worth £43million. Hmm.

monsteramunch · 08/11/2022 09:40

ZaSar · 08/11/2022 09:29

@monsteramunch

”rape apologist”?
mob for gods sake, could we clutch pearls any harder?
Im simply making the point that many people have careers after having done something bad, I’m not defending the bad they did.
Im saying that society itself operates on the principal that people can be forgiven (I don’t expect the victims to forgive them) and continue with life.

Imagine saying that people saying they would never forgive a man who drugged and raped a child are 'pearl clutching'.

You're embarrassing yourself by doubling down at this point, it's not doing anything other than fanning the flames.

You clearly don't agree that child rapists don't deserve or require forgiveness.

It's not pearl clutching to think your POV on this is disgusting.

Horses for courses.

If you were worth 43 million pounds why would you be getting a job in a supermarket

Blossomtoes · 08/11/2022 09:42

Good to see that in a supposedly civilised society the lynch mob is still alive and well.

NCFT0922 · 08/11/2022 09:42

@Sparklingbrook if you were worth £43million why would you live in a jungle eating kangaroo penis.

WahineToa · 08/11/2022 09:42

If you were worth 43 million why would you need to work at all? He has no need to work this is solely for his huge ego and need to be on telly.

Because you can do whatever you want.🤷‍♀️ And he’s vegan so that’s not going to happen.

We are discussing rapists and convicted violent offenders. What a disgusting comment. Yuck.

NCFT0922 · 08/11/2022 09:43

@Blossomtoes really? Was it any of your children these men raped and imprisoned? Was it your children either of these men sodomised? I wonder how supposedly civilised you’d be to have your child’s abuser on prime time tv and have people telling to accept it because it was years ago. Get a grip.

ZaSar · 08/11/2022 09:43

@category12

It’s your choice to think that and that’s fine, but personally if they’ve been punished or it was a really long time ago then personably I’m alright with them being on TV or whatever.

I don’t expect artists to be role models - for all I know the chef who prepared my food, or the teller who served me may also have committed horrible crimes. I don’t feel the need to hold people on TV to a higher standard.

Its not like they’re actually responsible for anything important, they’re just there to entertain us.

Badger1970 · 08/11/2022 09:44

I think it's a joke that he's still got a career after his criminal offences.

I wouldn't watch this shit anyway but anything he's in gets switched over immediately.
