That’s it really. Total and utter twat.

Really @Sheitgeist? Rape is never okay wherever it happens but lots of people including those in the UK think it is entirely acceptable in certain circumstances. I'm surprised you've never met a male or female in the UK or abroad who wouldn't say that.

I don't think rape is okay. I am mostly in the UK but when I travel abroad do no think it is okay to rape me.

Do you agree?

Not sure what you're asking me here or why.
Of course I agree that it's not OK to rape you. Or me. Or any other woman at any point ever. Whether in the UK or not.
I didn't say I'd never met "a male or female in the UK or abroad" who thought rape was acceptable. I said I'd never met a woman in the UK who did - in direct response to your previous message.

As for men though who think rape is acceptable, sadly I have. Here and elsewhere.

No, again, what I want is for them not to be given the massive opportunity that is a platform on mainstream media.

I think you should lose that gift, that lucky shot you had, your fifteen minutes of fame, if you commit a violent / sexual offence.

There's nothing to stop people like Boy George earning a living writing music, living off his back catalogue, working the circuit.

There's no reason he should be on prime time tv.

Exactly- rehabilitation of offenders doesn’t need to include multiple large publicly broadcast shows positioning them as national darlings and paying vast sums into their private coffers.

Gary Glitter is also an 80s icon who then went on to offend and now would never be given these opportunities that BG has - some pp seem like they’d be happy for him to also forge a highly paid comeback and defend him as well as his time is spent?

If not, they’re hypocrites.

And this happened re BG c.2009 and he was back on screen from 2015 when The Voice was filmed. And no remorse in the interim. It’s revolting.

BG has more front than Brighton Pier.

lightisnotwhite · 08/11/2022 23:35

Plenty of people who commit crimes can’t go back to their old careers. Working with children, travelling to the States, driving are just some of the jobs that wouldn’t be possible with a certain history. I don’t see why being paid to be a personality when that personality is shown to be flawed should be any different. He can do something in music or tv out of the public gaze.
Anyway they seem an amiable bunch. Throwing in two more should sort that.

Morestrangethings · 08/11/2022 23:51

But you do know what Boy George has done and it's not an excuse for many people to say they didn't. It was in 2007 and if you are that interested in celebrities, as viewers of IACGMOOH are, surely a lot of viewers must know? And if not, why not? It was huge news and if you say: "But I don't watch the news" you can't complain.

Im in Australia and do read the news, but was unaware until now that BG had committed this shocking crime. Not saying all Australians would have been unaware but thinking most would

BG was popular in the 1980s - is generally thought of as a ‘has been’ here - even though he appeared on the Voice. Australians are unlikely to pay much attention to a ‘has been’ unless they are one of ours.

Roman Polanski has run away from facing justice for his heinous crime he’s accused of, and no age is too old to face justice,

If you a person that calls a bunch of people being critical of someone ‘a lynch mob’ then you really need to understand the meaning of these words. You need to read up on what lynching is - it will turn your stomach that people would do this to other people. The words ‘lynching’ ‘lynch mob’ should never be minimised nor used incorrectly.

And you need to look up the meaning of metaphor @Morestrangethings.

I know what a metaphor is. I also know what an unacceptable metaphor is.

Don't know much about bot George. Never been able to stand Chris moyles.

A metaphor doesn't really work if the comparison is not appropriate to the situation.

What would be the point of having a camp full of upstanding people that you could admire rather than unpleasant moneygrubbers you can vote to make eat ostrich anus?

Except you can't vote for Boy George to eat Ostrich anus though

Boy George is hillarious.

Bevloy · 09/11/2022 17:40

Coming in today with Sean Welsh

RosettaStormer · 09/11/2022 17:42

Who so Sean Welsh? Never heard of him.

BobbyBobbyBobby · 09/11/2022 17:52

Sean Walsh I had to google a few years ago when he appeared in the news doe snogging his dance partner in some crappy dance show when he already had a girlfriend.

He was named as being a comedian when in fact he was as funny as having an ingrown tail nail.

I was baffled as to how anyone could remotely be amused by anything other than his face.

EvilRingahBitch · 09/11/2022 17:52

Sean(n) Walsh is a comedian, and more importantly he is the Strictly Love Rat whose snog behind the pub bins with his professional partner dominated the tabloid front pages for a full week in 2018.

It wasn't so much the snog that did him in, more the fact that his girlfriend publicly informed the world that he'd told her he couldn't make it home early for her birthday because he was rehearsing so very hard, and also that girlfriend was a psycho jealous bitch for suspecting that there might be something going on between Sean(n) and aforementioned dance partner.

He's known as the poster boy for emotionally abusive gaslighters. TBF I've never heard his side of the story.

sharonarnott · 09/11/2022 18:06

Norugratsatall · 07/11/2022 22:32

Agree. Not warming to Chris Moyles either if I'm honest. Also, where the fuck is Matt Hancock?!

It was made quite clear from the off that Matt Hancock and Sean Walsh would be entering the jungle a few days after the main group. He only arrived in Australia after the others had already started their stint if I remember rightly

Everyflippingusernameistaken · 09/11/2022 18:06

Proud to say I have never watched I’m a celebrity. I can’t stand reality programmes. Utter shite.

Tulipomania · 09/11/2022 18:14

I only really want to watch the edited highlights featuring Matt Hancock, Boy George, and maybe Mike Tindall. With absolutely no annoying arsing around by Decant.

Will that be possible do you think?

Sparklingbrook · 09/11/2022 18:31

I'd prefer it if MH wasn't in there I think, it's all going to get really tedious.

Katekeeprunning · 09/11/2022 18:35

My first thought

Mege2 · 09/11/2022 18:51

Tryfull · 07/11/2022 22:24

Not just a massive drug addiction. Didn't he tie up and torture a male prostitute? I'm not sure of the facts 100% but heard this is what happened.

He was doing cocaine and paranoid that the guy stole something from his PC. Did time for it. Don’t know why that didn’t finish his career off.

evilharpy · 09/11/2022 19:26

Hepzibar · 09/11/2022 06:37

Is he a gobshite for any specific reason(s)? I genuinely don't know, I never listened to him on Radio 1 and don't listen to Radio X.

RangerHamzaHasTheRangeDarling · 09/11/2022 19:28
Seann Walsh - Kiss. He was nominated for the Fringe comedy award this Summer. The above is interesting if you remember the furore at the time.

Because god forbid anyone should be given a second chance, because Mumsnet posters are all perfectly pure.

Totally agree with you here.
