Penniless no doubt

Look it up. He’s really not.

This is what I find baffling. He's not broke. He's previously said IACGMOOH is a show he would never do.

So why is he putting himself through this?

Venetiaparties · 08/11/2022 10:54

This photo of him made me shudder

This is the real face of George O'Dowd

Just another convicted violent sex attacker to add to the long list prancing around on prime time TV, being paid ridiculous sums. Do we suppose IAACGMOOH really couldn't come up anyone that is actually talented/truly famous/ genuinely interesting than the violent sex thug they have chosen this year. Moyles is repulsive of dubious character as well.

It’s a well known description of the kind of attitudes displayed on this thread.

Ridiculous. Do some reading.

Not just a massive drug addiction. Didn't he tie up and torture a male prostitute? I'm not sure of the facts 100% but heard this is what happened.

People get cancelled for saying the wrong word online these days but Boy George is still getting a massive pay days on prime time TV after doing that? Bizarre. Between him being on and Matt Hancock being allowed his lap top in there, Boy George exempt from from all trials and allowed wear all his own clothes?? ffs, that's the end of me ever watching that show again anyway

Emotionalsupportviper · 08/11/2022 11:05

ZaSar · 08/11/2022 06:33

He’s alright isn’t he? Yeah he’s eccentric but that’s to be expected

And yes I know that he had the incident with the male prostitute but it was a while ago and we should forgive in time I think

The only person with any right to forgive him is the person he abused so brutally - and he is still traumatised by the experience.

And for a "spiritual" person, Boy George seems very keen on money and fame.

ZaSar · 08/11/2022 11:05

@AryaStarkWolf

I feel like the cancel culture fad is starting to die down and those kind of Twitter warriors and pearl clutchers are being ignored more and more

Happylittlechicken · 08/11/2022 06:52

So what kindness are these men showing to their victims? The fact that society holds these men in esteem despite their awful crimes shows how little some peoples lives are values. Surely if we wanted to show kindness we would hold these men to account, refuse to watch or acknowledge anything they appeared in. They are not sorry for their actions, they’re revelling in the fact they hurt people and got away with it because if their status.

Exactly!

CathyorClaire · 08/11/2022 11:06

People can be rehabilitated. Leslie Grantham of Eastenders fame was a murderer before he became an actor.

Leslie Grantham was eventually sacked for sending indecent pictures to an undercover reporter and was later investigated in relation the sexual abuse of a schoolgirl.

Hard to consider that rehabilitated.

ZaSar · 08/11/2022 11:08

@Emotionalsupportviper

I agree - his victim doesn’t have to forgive him. But that’s got nothing to do with whether he should be allowed on TV or not. If the public doesn’t mind and most of them don’t (if he was cancelled it would only be because a tiny minority made it happen) it really doesn’t make any difference.

You don’t have to like or respect everyone you see on the telly. They’re not politicians you vote for or your friends, who cares if some aren’t perfect?

onanotherday · 08/11/2022 11:08

George is always good value, hope he give Matt a hard time.

NCFT0922 · 08/11/2022 11:09

@onanotherday we’ve seen how he gives men a hard time. Hopefully Matt Hancock doesn’t end up tied to a radiator and beaten!

ZaSar · 08/11/2022 11:13

It’s all so ridiculous to me. Like people really think, “no, I can not accept that kind of past in a C list celebrity judge on a TV show” as though they think their kids want to be just like 60 year old Boy George or something

limitedperiodonly · 08/11/2022 11:17

What would be the point of having a camp full of upstanding people that you could admire rather than unpleasant moneygrubbers you can vote to make eat ostrich anus?

Emotionalsupportviper · 08/11/2022 11:17

Sparklingbrook · 08/11/2022 08:36

Exactly. And didn’t lovable Jim Royle (Ricky Tomlinson) have something in his past?

I think it was domestic violence.

All of these people are shameful.

Re: Grantham - I knew he had killed someone, but hadn't realised that it was so brutal - I had thought that when he was young he'd got into a fight and the other lad had died (still not good, but not "cold-blooded")

That's horrible.

Or people are just uncomfortable with someone who has done what he has being rewarded with positive fame and attention. What does that teach people?

Getting on a TV programme is a huge opportunity for money-making and audience-building, I think if you fuck up badly enough, if you're a convicted of violence / sexual crimes, you shouldn't be given those sort of major opportunities any more.

People are lucky to get those chances. There are many people equally talented who never get a sniff of it. Why recycle these awful people who hurt other people?

It's disgusting that connections, past fame and status, allows people to get back onto those platforms.

WahineToa · 08/11/2022 11:24

It’s all so ridiculous to me.

The only thing that is ridiculous is your horrific minimisation of violent sexual crimes. Truly disgraceful.

These are the initial charges against Polanski for those trying to minimise:
Rape by use of drugs
Perversion
Sodomy
Lewd and lascivious act upon a child under 14
Unlawful sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 18
Furnishing a controlled substance to a minor

Thanks,

Venetiaparties · 08/11/2022 11:36

Sordid cheap stars and shots for ratings fodder.

Gutter TV at its finest.

MrPoppysParka · 08/11/2022 11:39

ricky Tomlinson was cleared.

MultiTulip · 08/11/2022 11:42

I think the thing that makes a difference for BG is he had a drug-induced psychotic break at the time of the crime. That doesn’t mean his victim has to forgive him, but psychosis does IMO affect whether the individual can be rehabilitated. He got sober and has never reoffended, went to prison and has apologised. It’s not really the same as Roman Polanski.

antelopevalley · 08/11/2022 11:44

So we have one man who has allegedly sexually assaulted a woman before and now groped a crew member. Another who served prison time for chaining and beating up a young man with chains. Another man who killed lots of people with his covid policies. And another man made famous for spewing racist and sexist bilge on the radio.

It is true that being a shit person is no barrier to success, especially as a man.
