I desperately want one. I couldn't find one before Halloween and was wondering if anyone would sell now that it's over?

Ah that's lovely. I wonder if they'd express a preference if a plastic and a natural enclosure were connected. I can imagine them preferring nature-y smells.

Spoodee · 17/11/2022 11:58

I think they probably do!

It must feel more natural to walk on bark or moss that plastic?

I don't say this often about spiders but yours OP are absolutely beautiful!!

CheeseIsMyPatronus · 17/11/2022 16:20

I've loved this thread - the OP's beautiful spiders and all the enthusiasm from most posters. I don't know how anyone can read Charlotte's Web as a child and not love spiders.

Thanks so much for sharing the photos and video clips.

She's a hyllus giganteus jumping spider. Her kind are also known as eyelash spiders for obvious reasons

I'm not good with spiders but I want this? 😅 Or maybe just a poster of this? 🤷‍♀️🙈🤣

EmergencyPoncho · 17/11/2022 17:22

Brienne looks like she has long eyelashes! Another arachnophobe who's admiring of your little darlings...

All these positive comments are so heartwarming ❤️

Have you found yourself a big spider skeleton yet though Grin they're on ebay for about £25.

PoseyFlump · 18/11/2022 08:14

Lydia and the gang are great ambassadors for the spider world! 🥇

Last night I noticed a lug from my hair seemed to be going for a stroll across my chest. Turned out I'd picked up a daddy long leg spider from somewhere. It must have been watching TV with me and then decided to stretch its legs (like they needed it!). It's now living in the garage. It'll never know how the film ended.

We never saw this species at home until recently. We went on holiday last year to a place in Wales that had loads, inc lots of tiny babies and must have brought some back.

Won't be as popular as Lydia but meet the newest member of the spidey clan, Mavis ❤️

A juvenile brachypelma boehmei/ Mexican fire leg.

She's really lovely and had her first feed with me today.

Dahlia moulted and came out to show off. First photos I've gotten of her in weeks.

I love seeing your spiders and think Mavis is lovely. I’m so sorry that Calcifer has passed away. RIP 💐

@IcakethereforeIam

Haha this is the sort of thing my DP would say. He rescues worms from puddles 😂

PoseyFlump · 27/11/2022 08:54

Mavis has a different sort of beauty. I'm not quite at Lydia stage with her photos but I can at least look.

Bless Calcifer. He was loved.

IcakethereforeIam · 27/11/2022 12:09

Thank you for the new pictures OP. Please have my condolences for the loss of Calcifer. Did he support any charities, perhaps on the web? I'd be pleased to make a donation in lieu of flowers.

IcakethereforeIam · 27/11/2022 13:14

Just had a rethink about my previous post, although my condolences were sincere I'm a bit insensitive to make a (bad) joke. Calcifer may not be everyone's idea of a cute pet but I don't doubt you are sorry to lose him. So, apologies.

I love Lucifer's green fangs. Iirc there's a British species of spider that has similar green fangs.

No worries! I have a dark sense of honour, it made me laugh x

I appreciate the apology though as alot of people are more dismissive of them as pets so I do appreciate the reflection.

Humour that should say!

OP posts:
PoseyFlump · 27/11/2022 17:24

Although a dark sense of honour does sound intriguing 🤔

IcakethereforeIam · 27/11/2022 18:08

'Dark sense of humour', was that a stealth brag? Grin

www.theguardian.com/science/2017/jan/29/dark-humour-high-intelligence-study

There is a British species with green fangs, Segestria fiorentina. Named after my favourite pizza. I found an absolutely stunning photo but I think if I posted it, it would undo all the good work your little spider ambassadors have done.

Perhaps you should call the next one Ferrero?
