What splurge item have you bought that’s left you disappointed?

So decided to treat myself and buy myself a Venus embrace razor. I loved how glamorous it looked, loved that you can buy new heads for it and reuse the handle (less plastic waste). Just really wanted to love this item!

Anyway so I have a shower this morning with my Venus embrace…. I shave my legs, great result. Shave my toes, great result. Shave armpits, again great... And just when I’m really beginning to feel like a silky smooth Goddess in the shower… I try to shave my bikini area. OMG seriously wtf is wrong with this razor??? Something about the shape of the razor itself just makes it impossible to get a good result in the bikini area😳. I’m so disappointed.
I’m hoping the Venus razor inventor reads this thread and improves their product. Because I so wanted to love this item.

You would think spending more money on an item would get you a better product. But apparently not… So what luxury splurge item have you bought that’s left you disappointed??

Re: the Venus. Probably designed by a man who imagined ladies had delicate whispy barely-there body hair, so it was perfectly reasonable to have it cut like a blunt spade.

I think we all know the true nature of laydee hair & that mens' razors are better designed to get rid of it effectively.

Little Green Sheep mattress for my 2 year old….hard as a rock, annoyed because it had rave reviews. If I had to sleep in with him it was so uncomfortable, just bought a standard silent night now, much better!

I wouldn't call them 'splurge' items but in view of the impending electricity blackouts, I have spent nearly £100 on:

The first two have USB ports for recharging mobile phone (which I don't possess) but will useful for my Kindle.

Not disappointed yet but I will be mightily pissed off if the blackouts fail to happen.

Linen bedding - it's so rough, especially the pillow cases. I know it's supposed to get softer every time you wash it, but a few months in I haven't noticed any difference so far. Regretting not buying Egyptian cotton now

I like my Apple Watch but I don’t use it for running; I have a Garmin for that.

My biggest waste of money was a pair of On Running trail running shoes. They are a nightmare to get on and off (they don’t unlace your just shove your foot in) and they rub the back of my ankle.

Was upgraded for free to business class on a flight. Didn't think it was anything special.

For years I'd wanted to get a "method" haircut, a magical type of cut unique to each person's hair, and way out of my price league. On my 40th, I used birthday money to finally treat myself...and it was the worst haircut I've ever had, by a long shot 😫 It was just hideous, and took me years to get rid of. I now just cut my own hair and love it 😂

Why are they tools of oppression? Men have them for removing hair they don’t want, women have them for the same thing. Some of us like to be without hair in some areas- I find it less physically irritating and itchy and yes I like the look of it more

Seven for All Mankind jeans. Sadly just the same as other jeans. Likewise 501’s that look effortless on everyone but me ( although I buy them second hand on eBay so not really splurge). I determinately keep buying them even though they are the wrong shape on me.

Hair cuts. £10 or £80 it looks no different.
(blow drys however are worth their weight in gold).
