Best and worse fictional couples?

Best:

Friends Monica and Richard. I know it's controversial because he knew her as a child but I LOVE him. Stable, wise, funny and non dramatic. He was so much better for her than man baby Chandler.

Notting Hill Anna and Will. Such a lovely, happy ending.

Titanic Jack and Rose. He brought out her fun side and she fulfilled him... there was room on that floating door though! Should have tried harder.

Worst:

ER Doug and Carol. She takes an overdose because of him treating her like shit, they still keep up the on again off again bollocks. She ends up raising two kids alone then randomly turns up in Seattle and they live happily ever after? Nah. A more believable version would be turning up in Seattle to find him shagging someone else.

OFAH Rodney and Cassandra. She turned him into a snob who looked down on his own family, he was funnier when he was young and dippy. Also an ambitious bank manager with wealthy parents marrying someone who flogs knocked off tat from a suitcase? I doubt it.

Grease Danny and Sandy. The whole thing. Change your appearance and personality to suit someone else... then you'll get your man 👍🤔

Best: Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth. Beatrice and Benedick

Worst: Dorothea Brooke and Casaubon. David Copperfield and Dora Spenlow

I am still bitter about the fact Dorothea Brooke didn’t end up with Dr Lydgate. I spent the whole of the TV series convinced that she would. Rereading the book in my late 20s I understood a bit more why she married Casaubon, but he was so awful!

Best - Mulder and Scully but before the show went totally down the pan.

Yes to Joey and Pacey I lived for that one when my own teenage life was decidedly lacking. Dawson was a nob though.

Best - all of the Bridgerton couples, but especially Colin and Penelope. Julia Quinn matches her main characters together really well.

Martin and Jackie - Friday Night Dinner. They bicker and he drives her up the wall sometimes, but they are just so well suited. Great actors helped make them so believable as a couple. I do wish the series could have continued so we could see if their sons and their lovely girls were great couples, but it would not have been the same without Martin.

The Detectorists - Andy and Becky. They are so supportive of each other. He supports her when she wants to go to Africa to work, and she is allows him time for his hobby and supports him while he tries to improve his career prospects. So much give and take in that relationship. I do hope we find them settled and happy in their lovely cottage in the Christmas special.

Worst - all of the pairings in Big Bang Theory seem forced to me. Maybe Sheldon and Amy are the best of them, but she has to put up with a lot.

Teddy and Amy in Little Women. He would have settled with any of the March sisters, but his heart will always belong to Jo. Amy wanted his money, he wanted Jo.

Dawn and Pete in Gavin and Stacey - should have split up years ago. Their poor childen.

Best - Cormoran Strike and Robin

I was so exasperated by the situation and wanted them to be strong platonic friends and colleagues (after she had dumped the awful boyfriend) but the author had to mess that up! I thought it played into the trope that men and women can’t be friends without sex getting in the way (I may just be over reacting)…

Among the best ones: John Thornton and Margaret Hale

Best: Mortica & Gomez Adams

One of the worst:
JD & Elliot (Scrubs) - Both were too neurotic and insecure for this pairing to have worked in real life. Plus Elliot should have ended up with Sean the marine biologist.

Yeah I agree, they messed each other about so much! Carla and Turk on the other hand were awesome!
