Best and worse fictional couples?

Best:

Friends Monica and Richard. I know it's controversial because he knew her as a child but I LOVE him. Stable, wise, funny and non dramatic. He was so much better for her than man baby Chandler.

Notting Hill Anna and Will. Such a lovely, happy ending.

Titanic Jack and Rose. He brought out her fun side and she fulfilled him... there was room on that floating door though! Should have tried harder.

Worst:

ER Doug and Carol. She takes an overdose because of him treating her like shit, they still keep up the on again off again bollocks. She ends up raising two kids alone then randomly turns up in Seattle and they live happily ever after? Nah. A more believable version would be turning up in Seattle to find him shagging someone else.

OFAH Rodney and Cassandra. She turned him into a snob who looked down on his own family, he was funnier when he was young and dippy. Also an ambitious bank manager with wealthy parents marrying someone who flogs knocked off tat from a suitcase? I doubt it.

Grease Danny and Sandy. The whole thing. Change your appearance and personality to suit someone else... then you'll get your man 👍🤔

David and Patrick in Schitts creek. Just lovely.

Can't think of worst at the moment. Just finished a schitts creek binge.

omg I just thought this when I saw this thread. I love them. Their chemistry is amazing and I love how you never doubt them they can make it funny and interesting without ‘will they won’t they’ and break ups.
Johnny and Moira were actually a good couple too.

For worst? Yeah never liked Danny and Sandy in Grease.

MrsMitford3 · 28/10/2022 19:41

Louisa Durrell and Spiro-such chemistry

Bookaholic73 · 28/10/2022 19:41

Best:

Buffy & Spike. Much better suited than Buffy & Spike.
Piper & Leo (Charmed).

Worst:
Sandy & Danny. Hate that he only liked her when she basically changed everything about herself.

Bookaholic73 · 28/10/2022 19:42

*much better suited than Buffy & Angel I meant.

Paq · 28/10/2022 19:44

Best couples are the ones that are not yet a couple: Strike and Robin; Remington Steel and Laura Holt; Donna Moss and Josh Lyman.

DarkShade · 28/10/2022 19:45

Best: Lorelei and Luke, Ali and Noah from the notebook

Worst: jack and thingy from titanic, Ross and Rachel

7Worfs · 28/10/2022 19:46

I mostly watch sci-fi and can’t think of a couple that I’d pin as ‘best’. Maybe love is doomed in the future. Grin

Worst - Chakotay and Seven (ST Voyager). It’s so bad I wince and look away.

Purpleavocado · 28/10/2022 19:46

I was going to say Buffy and Spike as well.
Marge and Homer, she puts up with all his stupidity.
Worst - Rose and Jack, there was room on the door! And what about her husband, she doesn't think of him when she dies.

GreyhairedHobbit · 28/10/2022 19:47

Best: Anne and Gilbert, it was meant to be from the beginning.
Worst: Cathy and Heathcliffe, so much pain and torment, it was obsession, not love!

AmeliaEarhart · 28/10/2022 19:48

Yes! Joey and Rachel was definitely the worst. Yes, Ross and Rachel was “problematic”, but Joey and Rachel was just lazy and desperate.

Wash and Zoe from Firefly is surely a great sci-fi couple.

Purpleavocado · 28/10/2022 19:49

I loves John Chrichton and Aeryn Sun as well.

Mrs22 · 28/10/2022 19:51

Best Wanda and vision (marvel)

Worst jace and clary (shadow Hunters)
Homer and marge Simpson (homers a selfish pig)
And if you've ever read arcana chronicles by Kresley Cole evie and Jack.

Ha, I just finished rewatching Firefly! They are sweet indeed, but there’s so little screen time on their love.

Also I’m so mad there’s only one season! Much as I love all Star Treks, Firefly is the only one that was perfect from the get go. I don’t know if it was writing, acting or directing, but that show was unique in that it was great from episode one.

AmeliaEarhart · 28/10/2022 19:55

Oh, and yes to Josh and Donna in WW, and NO to Josh and Amy. She was whiny and annoying, and that scene when Josh makes “a little Tahiti” for her and puts on Red Red Wine by UB40 was the cringiest thing ever.

CryCeratops · 28/10/2022 19:55

Worst - Chakotay and Seven (ST Voyager). It’s so bad I wince and look away.

I can’t say that I like Chakotay and Seven together, but they’re fine compared to Neelix and Kes. I hated that pairing. Mostly because Neelix was the most annoying character in the whole show.

LoraOldSpot · 28/10/2022 19:57

Worst: Hermione and Ron!

Pearapplepeach · 28/10/2022 19:57

Best: Patrick and Lisbon in The Mentalist.

Worst: Alan Rickman and Kate Winslett in Sense and Sensability.
Mr Collins and Charlotte Lucas. P&P

SeasonsHeatings · 28/10/2022 19:59

Jack Black and Kate Winslet in The Holiday was a good match.

Controversial opinions but I find Neelix endearing, and I think Janeway was a good captain. 🤭

And Janeway and Chakotay had lots of chemistry when they were stranded and played families - that coupling made more sense!

GroomedForSerfdom · 28/10/2022 20:00

Best
Bren and Tony in Dinnerladies. The last episode puts a smile on my face just thinking about it.

Janeway’s fantastic.

I would have loved to see Janeway and Chakotay together, I agree that would have made a lot of sense.

They were great together, really heartwarming. The best will-they won't-they couple!

PuppyMonkey · 28/10/2022 20:04

Best
David and Maddie from Moonlighting.
Stan and Hilda in Corrie.
Sally and Tim in Corrie
Jack Lemon and Tony Curtis in Some Like it Hot.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Worst
Walter and Skyler White
John Snow and Danerys.
Anyone and Phil Mitchell
Right Said Fred.
