Nearly the end of October - is your heating on yet?

Usually we'd have had it on well before now but we're holding out. We're up in the North East so it does get chilly but it's not too bad yet

We do have a log burner - probably had it on 2 or 3 times a week so far this month

Upstairs is getting nippy though and I could do with a thicker quilt. We only have a 4.5 tog as dh is like a hot water bottle!

No, it’s really quite warm. No heating on at all. It doesn’t even feel slightly chilly.

Yabado · 27/10/2022 20:42

Nope not properly
we have both gas and electric
and it’s pretty warm in my house atm

but I do wear a oddie and slipppers and have a heated throw

we’ve only used £10 in gas this week and £4 of that is standing charge
heating has been on twice for a few hrs when we were drying some bedding otherwise it’s mainly showers

Chicheguevara · 27/10/2022 20:44

It’s 20 degrees in my home. I have a tee shirt on and heating is definitely not on,

devilinareddress · 27/10/2022 20:54

Definitely not

dementedma · 27/10/2022 20:55

Central Scotland and no. Only for an hour or two twice so far to dry washing

Sickandtiredofbeingsick · 27/10/2022 20:57

No, we usually try to hold out until the end of October anyway but will be holding out as long as possible this year! We’re in the SE so it’s been very mild anyway (20 degrees today). We have an electric blanket on our bed if it gets a little nippy but still got our summer duvet on as we’ve been getting too warm overnight so not really been using that either yet. Temperature in the house is currently 18 so higher than I have the thermostat set in the winter anyway.

LimitIsUp · 27/10/2022 20:58

Nope because it's been unseasonably warm where I live

Fiddledeedeeee · 27/10/2022 21:01

In the Midlands and haven’t put it on yet.

we’ve lit the log burner a few times but it’s felt really mild overall. Haven’t even got the oodies etc out yet.

Its getting a bit harder to dry washing since the weathers been worse this week but we’re managing still.

PrincessSpanky · 27/10/2022 21:05

Eastern Scotland, still off. No plans to put it on yet. It's not been that cold yet. No fire either.

userxx · 27/10/2022 21:08

Nope, it's still very mild here in South Manchester. I was walking the dog before and could hear the fireworks going off whilst smelling a BBQ! Strange.

AlternativelyWired · 27/10/2022 22:51

No. North west. It's still double figures outside and in. Coats not needed yet as long as it's daylight.

SpookyPanda · 28/10/2022 06:13

No

MarshaBradyo · 28/10/2022 06:32

No, it’s going to be 22 so pretty warm

GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 28/10/2022 07:00

No and north east too.
haven’t needed to still warm enough to have the back door open for the dog to get out.

have started putting socks on and a blanket if it’s a bit chilly on a night.

MrsGamgee · 28/10/2022 07:05

Not yet, which is unusual for us as I hate the cold. Its not been too bad really. Luckily DH and kids are always complaining they are too hot, so I just hide under my heated blanket and I'm quite toasty!

Margo34 · 28/10/2022 07:07

No but timer is set although temp hasn't actually dropped low enough for the thermostat to kick in yet. It was 24degrees C yesterday in the coldest room in the house! Toddler walking around in just a vest! South East.

KangarooKenny · 28/10/2022 07:09

North west and no. Although I have flicked it on for an hour a couple of times due to the washing not drying.

Nearly the end of October have we hit 1000 threads about who has their heating on?

Can't be far off

Grin To be fair it has been very mild, but ours is coming on in the morning, and we don't have a log burner.

I find it a bit odd that people post smugly about not putting the heating on then say that they have an alternative source of heating.

It’s just like those people who say they had no heating as a child, just a coal fire 🙄
I used to dream of a coal fire.

or people who are smug about not owning a TV, but watch stuff on another device. It is still watching something on a screen, albeit a smaller one with poorer sound quality.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 28/10/2022 07:51

going to be 18 degrees today according to my app.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 28/10/2022 07:52

and 20 on saturday, going down to 13 next saturday
so november may well bring the usual chill

Kiwigrape · 28/10/2022 08:00

Had it on around an hour or two most days in last couple of weeks.

TeenDivided · 28/10/2022 08:05

We've had it on for an hour on about 3 days but don't need it 'on' yet.
It has been quite warm 'down South' and we haven't even got our winter coats out yet.

Emily1583 · 28/10/2022 08:07

Nope. Here in the south west it's still relatively mild. Last night about 3am I was uncomfortable I even threw off the winter duvet and threw back on the summer duvet. We live in a listed building with single glazed windows and solid walls too. Don't feel cold here yet.
