If you didn't have to work for money, what would you do?

If money was no object what would you do instead of work? I'll go first- I would love to be a potter and an author (no experience of either but a girl can dream!)

I'd do something fitness related I think. Maybe a fitness instructor and PT or something.

Alarae · 27/10/2022 09:31

I would probably just go part time in my current job as I love the mental stimulation. There would definitely be a sabbatical first if I had windfall money just to experience life as a 'lady who lunches' for a while!

TwoTimTams · 27/10/2022 09:35

Travel. Make more artwork which I only do for fun. Travel some more. Help out in charities or community groups. Travel some more.

Costacoffeeplease · 27/10/2022 09:35

I retired in my early 50s, partly due to disability so my options are limited but I write (published two books in the last year or so), paint, read, cook/bake, rescue animals

SunflowerSmith · 27/10/2022 09:43

Run a rescue centre for dogs and donkeys.
They wouldn't be stuck in small concrete kennels and stables though, they would have large, luxurious enclosures and 24 hour staff on a ratio of 1:4 animals so they had lots of love and attention.

StaceySolomonSwash · 27/10/2022 09:43

Lots and lots of crafting and gardening. It's bliss. Currently renovating a Dolls House.

mynameiscalypso · 27/10/2022 09:45

Academic research. No teaching or admin. Just research and writing papers.

Goingforplatinum · 27/10/2022 09:46

Volunteer, I love speaking to people. I quite like the idea of volunteering at the local NT

dancinfeet · 27/10/2022 09:46

I would do what I already do (dance teacher) but would get paid a decent amount rather than struggling, in an ideal
world I would be able to offer free/subsidised classes and dancewear for families on low incomes so that all children who want to, can have access to dance and theatre classes and so that it isn’t just a privilege for those that can afford it

If money no object - I’ll be buying and renovating old buildings, then finding them a purpose.

Polyethyl · 27/10/2022 09:48

If money were no object - philanthropist seems the best role.
I see so many derelict buildings I want to see fixed. Shopping streets that would be so much more appealing if the shopkeepers had the money to paint their windows. Village halls that need their gutters clearing. Churches that need new roofs. Housing estates that need a litter pick.

Ineverwannabelikeyou · 27/10/2022 09:49

Renovate houses in France like they do on help we bought a village Grin

Haha snap!

Wintermoonandstars · 27/10/2022 09:49

I’m happy doing not a lot.

I have an almost two year old so he takes a lot of time. I’d like him to go to nursery for two days a week for his development and to give me a break. On those days I’d be happy with watching Netflix, reading, gardening.

I could easily extend that to seven days a week if needed!

I was going to say to do my PhD as I got accepted after my masters but couldn't afford to do it, but I love this idea too!

deliverooyoutoo · 27/10/2022 09:52

Crochet and knit. Potter.

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 27/10/2022 09:53

I'd help out at my village primary. Sit at the back of a classroom and help listen to kids read. Help those who just need a bit more time to get the hang of maths. I'd like to make a difference

Flaunch · 27/10/2022 09:57

Lots of time would be spent doing my hobbies and mooching around antique & charity shops. I’d buy a canal boat and live on it and do a lot of guerrilla gardening along tow paths.

I hate working it feels like a complete waste of my life.

CanIusethisnameplease · 27/10/2022 10:03

Is this an if I won the lottery thing ?

i would take the rest of the term off to enjoy my windfall , buy houses , lunches out , shopping, holidays ect.

then come January I would go back to my work , in a volunteer role for maybe 1/2 days a week and listen to readers and cover playtimes so other staff can have a drink and a wee x

MegGriffinshat · 27/10/2022 10:04

Jack shit and I’d bloody love it.

ImJustNotMeAnymore · 27/10/2022 10:09

I would paint. Huge arty paintings that make no sense to anyone but me. Then I would burn them.

MoreTeaLessCoffee · 27/10/2022 10:18

I'd become a foster carer (not naive about this - work with children in care).

Pedallleur · 27/10/2022 10:22

Travel. Slowly by boat and train where possible.

mondaytosunday · 27/10/2022 10:28

Take lots of craft workshops and short courses on textile design and start a business designing.

Maverickess · 27/10/2022 10:39

If it was the same income as now but just without the work I'd spend more time making my home and garden nice, reading, watching Netflix, walking the dog and spending time with friends and family, I'd also travel but it'd wouldn't be as often as I'd like 😂
If it was with as much money as I want then there'd be lots of traveling and lots more animals 😁
