If you didn't have to work for money, what would you do?

If money was no object what would you do instead of work? I'll go first- I would love to be a potter and an author (no experience of either but a girl can dream!)

I'm part retiring in 2023 and would like to help people who can't afford a tutor to read or do maths. I know teaching isn't that easy plus there is the dbs stuff, so hopefully there are charities out there that support people to do this that I can join.

Me too. I’d specifically want to help teens get into university.

Id love to be able to donate time to sitting with hospital patients who don't have anyone to visit them, and/or on a postpartum ward, helping new mums and take some of the pressure off of the midwives.
I'd have my DC educated at home with tutors (I don't know enough to be confident enough in being their sole educator) and take the advantage of being able to travel whenever we liked rather than being stuck to school holidays.

I'd apprentice myself to a master carpenter and learn how to make furniture.

And set up an animal sanctuary. And design a Japanese garden. Learn how to restore antique books. Cook more.

Working really is a waste of my time (and I say that as somebody who loves their job).

I'd buy a motorhome and go travelling

Volunteer at an animal shelter if there was one close to public transport.

Also do some language courses.

Ooh bliss. I’d have a smallholding somewhere, do lots of crafting including finding some forgotten heritage crafts to keep going, do volunteering for the wildlife trusts. Occasionally I might volunteer to go to schools to give them the benefit of my skills or let school children come round and then flounce at them when they don’t appreciate any of it.

Id still work with preschoolers but only 3 hours a day termtime not fulltime like i currently do
Id buy a house on a big plot and learn to garden, read LOTS, and generally potter about.

UnderHisPie · 06/11/2022 20:52

A small holding. One that didn't really NEED to generate income.

Mainly involving me pottering about on my own land with the dog(s).

bravelittletiger · 06/11/2022 21:38

@twistyizzy oh god I meant own a horse not a yard!! I certainly don't aspire to own a yard it looks like bloody hard work and a fairly thankless task most of the time!!
