Team cake here. I'm also counting brownies as cake. Cake goes with everything.

Chocolate Brownies , they improve after a couple of days but IMO should not be eaten within 24 hours of cooking - otherwise it's just 'cake' not 'brownie'

Yes I'm glaring at you Nigella eating your brownies straight out of the oven and so raw squidgey they need a straw not a spoon

But surely brownies should be soft and squidgy? The more dry they are, the more cake like they are and cakey brownies are just wrong.

Also who are these people who have the willpower to wait a whole day to eat freshly baked brownies? They can't be mere mortals.

Yes to squidgey but Nigella does liquid in the middle Envy <not envy

They mature over 24 hours and if made correctly (whisking the eggs and sugar till fluffy) have a sugar crust and velvet texture .
So well worth the waiting !

Definitely not donuts - whether cookies or cakes depends on the variety and if homemade etc. Generally really nice homemade cookies are probably tastier than cake, though not as interesting looking.

MossGrowsFat · 21/10/2022 21:13

Wine, then cheese.

tobee · 21/10/2022 21:15

Biscuits

Fuckallthetories · 21/10/2022 21:43

Depends.
if I want something with my coffee, a doughnut (a nice one from the coffee shop, cinnamon apple flavour)
if I want something as a quick snack, then cookie
but if I want to stuff my face then a nice chocolate chilli cake.

but I mainly end up eating dds organix stuff.

All of them play an integral role in society.

My favourite answer Grin

I am team cake but also very partial to Ben's cookies (when they're fresh and still gooey inside) and I do enjoy a doughnut from time to time. The jam ones coated in sugar. But - controversially, it seems - I also quite like Krispy Kreme raspberry glazed doughnuts.

Cake. There is so much variety.
Cookies second, donuts last - too fatty and stodgy.

Summertimesunshineandfizz · 21/10/2022 21:56

Cake. Whatever the occasion there’s a cake to suit, but a doughnuts just a boring doughnut…

RewildingAmbridge · 21/10/2022 22:02

Cake
Biscuits
Cookies
Doughnuts

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/10/2022 22:08

I was listening to a couple of dentists saying that donoughts were better for your teeth ( though probably not your heart or waistline)

Better maybe than full sugar Coke or a stick of rock.
Or maybe they brushed the sugar off ?

Itstarts · 21/10/2022 22:19

The best cookie is better than the best cake or donut, but an average cookie or packet cookie is nothing special. A donut is pretty good no matter what. Cake is meh.

Only exception is Dutch donuts. Soooooo soft and amazing! I could boycott cookies if I lived in the Netherlands.

MenaiMna · 21/10/2022 22:25

Cake doughnuts. Leavened with baking soda and sugar glazed. Never see them in the UK sadly.

WeAllHaveWings · 21/10/2022 22:25

A fresh jam donought, don't like them when they have gone stodgy and the sugar dredging is damp and sticky.

But then again a good victoria Sponge or Lemon drizzle cake is hard to beat too.....

RavenT · 21/10/2022 22:29

Cake

Mycatisasleep · 18/01/2023 13:49

Cakes. Donut and cookies are disgusting.

moonwitchmum · 18/01/2023 13:50

Probably cake, unless it’s those little mini ring donuts with chocolate on the top that you can get in multipacks in supermarkets. They’re like crack to me.

ShaunaTheSheep · 18/01/2023 14:04

Cake
Doughnuts (freshly fried only)
