@Biddie191 and who is actually going to fix it ? Can't see any of the opposition looking credible either , which is why we are where we are
Maybe just one party being in isn't the way forward anymore
Because its clearly not working

Liz does get her £115k pension and her picture on the #10 staircase so not bad for 43 days

She gets £115k per year pension for serving 43 days?!

Perfect28 · 20/10/2022 14:14

We need proportional representation right now. Nothing else will fix this.

What happens now?

I hope it won't be Suella Braverman... She hates immigrants like myself and will probably set up "labour camps" for us.

Yes that's how my husband feels. He's disabled so I don't think he'd last long in a labour camp.

Kemi Badenoch wouldn't be much different.

SecretShipping · 20/10/2022 14:15

The Ultra-Right bastards won't tolerate Jeremy Hunt, otherwise I think he'd be there like a shot. It will be a Sunk/Morbid coronation, I suspect.

There should obviously be a general election. Any party too terrified of asking the electorate what it thinks shouldn't be anywhere near power.

worriedatthistime · 20/10/2022 14:12

Who would want the job thats what I want to know , if I was the tories I would actually welcome an election

They're all scared stiff for their seats - the ones who supported fracking are toast!

And half of them are probably worried about actual police involvement in their activities when they no longer have parliamentary protection.

Quelle suprise.. she's come out bleating the same old things on repeat.
Every time she mentions Putin's name ( which is a lot) he must be having a right old laugh at the chaos he's causing.

And Boris must be guffawing down his sleeve too. Ultimately, the Tories and those voting for them, for Boris and for Brexit have caused the chaos. However, given that all this horror really started with the election of Boris and Brexit, and given the strong links there with Russia - and with China to some extent - I think those getting a certain whiff of fish in their nostrils could be forgiven.

I think it's more. I think she also gets half her PM salary.

But even at £115k, if she lives another 40 years that's £4.6m her little playtime as PM will make her/cost us.

Look at history and other countries. PR brings with it many more governments that are not able to function

Brokendaughter · 20/10/2022 14:19

I'm fairly sure I've had cut flowers last longer than Liz Truss lasted as Prime Minister.

What on earth is going on with politics in recent years?
There doesn't seem to be a single one of them with a clue.

It's not a pension as such, but rather £115K in expenses that they can claim. But no, I don't think she'll qualify for it after only 44 days. I was reading about it yesterday and I think she needs to have been in office for at least two months.

And many successes too, relatively.

NotQuiteHere · 20/10/2022 14:24

It brings coalition governments, which is the right way to function: cooperate and seek agreements rather than mock the opposition

plus security. So cost that in as well. If she is hard faced enough there will be a book deal.

FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge · 20/10/2022 14:25

She must be sniggering into her hands knowing she’s set for life after 6 weeks of fucking about.

it makes a mockery of all those who have to work hours of overtime just to keep their heads above water.

Well played Liz. Did you ever truly believe you could do this? I remember this week seeing a farmer say it takes 4 generations to build up this farm and one generation can run it into the ground.

there is no moving on from this.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/10/2022 14:26

In her 70 year reign, the late Queen had 15 prime Minsters. In his 6 week reign. The king has had two!

MagpieCastle · 20/10/2022 14:27

Just to make today even more surreal, I accidentally had tabs for two different MN threads open at the same time. So read the following list thinking it was for potential PM candidates:
Alan Titchmarsh

David Attenborough

Huw Edwards

Joanna Lumley

Hmm, mind you….

£115k in expenses + 1/2 their PM salary as a pension. I think.

Splendid if she gets neither.

CPL593H · 20/10/2022 13:30

It should be Sunak, he came second and the Parliamentary party wanted him.

Yep and we'd have had none of this clusterfuck had he won in the first place.

murasaki · 20/10/2022 13:36

Crikey. She didn't last as long as the rotting lettuce.

I was wondering about how she compared.

A huge percentage of the current shit is brexit.tories.full stop.

SenecaFallsRedux · 20/10/2022 14:32

Could y'all help me out here? I'm American and trying to keep up. Who is the Cunt and who is Lettuce?

Ori1 · 20/10/2022 14:32

But they're all loaded for life. They're all Oxbridge mates aren't they? Primed for power, whether it's five minutes or 5 years. It's just a game to them really, it's a giant chessboard and they're all seated round it comfortably, moving pieces about and slinging playground insults at one another.

It's not like you or I losing our jobs. They're all cushioned elite, and they move within the same circles so it's a closed/secure shop. "Real life" doesn't happen to these people at the top. It is just a rather vicious game to them

kateandme · 20/10/2022 14:32

God what if they vote cruella in. She really does seem to want to kill off the vulnerable. or immigrants.or ...oh god she's just a bit fucking awful!!
