does Anyone know if Therese Coffey will now lose her position as Health Secretary and Deputy PM given Liz is going?

Definitely. Big Truss supporter, which is presumably why she was in the thick of it last night as weeping Tory MPs were manhandled through the voting lobbies.

Perhaps she'll have time to retrain as a doctor. Qualify to share those antibiotics she likes to hand out.

I very much hope so. If it's right that she was involved in the fracas in the voting lobby last night she should have resigned this morning, and Jacob Rees Mogg with her.

Can the person saying this needs a man kindly fuck right off?

Skyellaskerry · 20/10/2022 14:02

Anyone now thinking that BJ supporters will say that he’s the only one with an actual mandate from the last election ……

MrsLargeEmbodied · 20/10/2022 14:01

i think it needs a man unfortunately not penny moduant to bring discipline to those dreadful tories

Penny Mordaunt is a big supporter of gender ideology so could just identify as a man. Sorted!

LikeTearsInRain · 20/10/2022 14:03

Thank god Liz Crust is gone she was just one big mess up but what will happen now seems like there is lots of spin on Mordant and Sunak but also people saying about bringing Boris back. I’m not too fussed who but they just need to not do anything to zany and keep the country running!

PAFMO · 20/10/2022 14:03

I've never heard the BBC commentators be so scathing.

Mrs Thatcher didn't seem to have too much difficulty with party discipline, until the very end, anyway. It's been a constant issue for the Tories ever since, though.

that was me
those type of men in the party never responded to teresa may, nor liz truss

Perfect28 · 20/10/2022 14:06

Then those types of men should fuck off too.

RoachTheHorse · 20/10/2022 14:07

It doesn't need a man. It needs someone measured, consistent, and not prone to wildly inappropriate decisions. Does the Tory party have anyone like that?

cosmiccosmos · 20/10/2022 14:08

Jeremy Hunt has had a 'close look at the books' of course he's not running.

I can't see how it can be anyone but Sunak. At least he got to the last 2. The only others that would be any good aren't in the running.

Labour does...

Ivyy · 20/10/2022 14:09

FrizzledFrazzle · 20/10/2022 13:55

I don't understand.

How come she will be replaced in a week with the MPs choosing the next leader, but Boris faffed around for another 3 months while Tory party members chose his replacement?

Why couldn't we have had that last time?

It's like some grand-plan has been operating behind the scenes, the cynic in me wonders if everything that's happened since Boris went has all been orchestrated. God knows what for though, dd is 11 and thinks they're going to bring Boris back next Grin

motherofgodhaudyerwheesht · 20/10/2022 14:10

Given the media's hand in all this I am left wondering how squeaky clean they are now re phone tapping. It is, obviously, a gross invasion of privacy and not to be condoned but I suspect there would be a lot of interest in many text exchanges right now, not least those of Boris Johnson. Can you imagine. It is all so Machiavellian.

theworldhas · 20/10/2022 14:10

Can Labour just loan the Tories Keir Starmer for a couple of years? He’s going to be PM anyway at the next election.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 20/10/2022 14:10

I vote for the mango stone

Biddie191 · 20/10/2022 14:11

Please don't let this herald the return of BJ
General Election drastically needed!

Surreality22 · 20/10/2022 14:11

Lol. Now the rest of them, pls.

theworldhas · 20/10/2022 14:11

They may as well just have a nationwide raffle at this point. Winner gets parachuted into an easy by-election then appointed PM. At least it could raise money for a good cause until we get to kick them out.

kateandme · 20/10/2022 14:12

But those cheering that she's gone.yes great but the next is still her government.wirh her morals and ideals.thwy are all f shit. Her going just means the next new face of the same body.

worriedatthistime · 20/10/2022 14:12

Who would want the job thats what I want to know , if I was the tories I would actually welcome an election

Yiayoula · 20/10/2022 14:12

Interesting times indeed….

Ben Wallace ( if he wants to ) or Rishi would be my shout. Best of a very, very bad bunch.

First choice would be a General Election though .

Pedallleur · 20/10/2022 14:12

Liz does get her £115k pension and her picture on the #10 staircase so not bad for 43 days

Emotionalsupportviper · 20/10/2022 14:13

CPL593H · 20/10/2022 13:30

It should be Sunak, he came second and the Parliamentary party wanted him.

It should be a General Election.

This fiasco of a self-serving, corrupt and incompetent so-called government has gone on more than long enough.
