What's yours? I remember the Dumped By Text one a couple of years ago (by the girl who ran in the rain!) She was very inspirational.

OP posts:

This is one of the ones I just didn't find funny at all, maybe I just didn't get it but I'm still surprised how others react to it

Penis Beaker
T-Rex in Asda
Cubes of Poo
Cutted-up Pear
Screaming at the Sistine Chapel

Snapped and farted :o)

I will always remember MrsDeVere and her writing about her daughter. In fact, every time I see a butterfly I think of her. Also expatinscotland and her daughter.

RainbowConnection1 · 10/10/2022 13:59

Angela Hernandez had me crying with laughter.

I joined when the Penguin Enclosure thread was live, brilliant stuff.

A relationships thread which went on for four threads, with her gradually realising she needed to get out and going on and doing it. Her situation was a lot like mine had been a few years earlier.

Another really inspirational one was the woman who was left by her two year bf by text - he said don't bother replying. With the support of all the other posters, she never did - his surprise, confusion, irritation etc were just brilliant to see. She was fantastic.

And I have only just now realised that's the same thread OP was referring to in the first post! Hmm Oops

The question was what is the most memorable thread on here, not the most funny @x2boys @catsonahottinroof.

I imagine you wouldn't find EMIN's thread about her drug addicted foster son funny either.

No I didn't find EMIN,s thread funny but I was replying to a pp poster who commented about the pushchair thread ( after another poster had found it hilarious) not being that funny that I didn't find if that funny either
However I'm not a naughty child and this isn't a reading exercise, so don't tell me off again 🙄

Just remembered another ancient one that really made me laugh. Someone was out clothes shopping and they wanted to post a link to what they were thinking of buying. But they just couldn't make the link work. It was unintentionally hilarious.

I also remember the pram in the communal hallway. I can see that "big reveal" photo as clear as day.

Has super soaker had a mention yet?

So you fo find threads funny ,
Just like you I read all types of threads some funny some serious.

IncompleteSenten · 10/10/2022 17:24

Spray painting a pigeon was another funny one.
I don't remember clearly but something about painting the fence and accidentally spray painting a pigeon. Someone said that when it went back to its mates they'd ask "is that you, Paul?"

It was much funnier than that. I've mangled it.

All the Judge Flounce stuff.

God that takes me back!
And Lavender(rrrrr) and her red rug I think that was her? Was about the same time wasn't it?

A580Hojas · 10/10/2022 17:32

Sorry to be pedantic @x2boys - but as far as I can see, two posters cited pram in hallway as a memorable thread and neither said it was funny.

catsonahottinroof · 10/10/2022 17:37

I think the pram in hallway thread (haven't read it) is different to the pushchair thread though. xboys was saying the pushchair thread wasn't that funny. Just looked back through the thread and got reminded of Brian from Hull! I agree that was one of the funniest ever on MN and so many posters put yoni in their usernames for ages afterwards.

asblindasabat · 10/10/2022 17:49

There was one recently about the OP who could hear weird, creepy music in their garden late night.

i don’t know if it turned out to be sinister though as if I I recall correctly, the thread was taken down.

FindingMeno · 10/10/2022 17:51

Brian from Hull and the yoni massage.
And there was one about a dogging documentary.

Riverlee · 10/10/2022 18:10

That dogging documentary! That’s one of the weirdest (and therefore memorable) programmes I have ever watched. One of those programmes you stumble across, and end up watching because it’s so bizarre.

@IncompleteSenten it was!!

I wasn't referring to the prams in the hallway thread it was a thread the Op started asking about a pushchair nobody replied ,but the Op replied to herself a couple of years later not realising, lots of posters found it hilarious, i found it mildly amusing but didn't really get the hilarity 🤷‍♀️

Cherryana · 10/10/2022 19:39

I still miss the Birdy Friend updates

BusySittingDown · 10/10/2022 19:40

Lemon drizzle bitch.

Janet and Roy.

The one where a poster set her cheating boyfriend up on a blind date at the zoo near the penguins.

BusySittingDown · 10/10/2022 19:44

Ooh, there was one where a poster replied to her own thread years later. It was about a pushchair - it had me in stitches.

It was a zombie thread that only had one post asking whether a certain brand of pushchair was good. The same poster replied about two years later but hadn't noticed the name of OP. The next poster's reply was something like "Hmm um, are you replying to yourself two years later?"

BusySittingDown · 10/10/2022 19:51

Three legged dog shitting on the picnic was funny.

threecupsofteaminimum · 11/10/2022 08:30

Thanks for this thread, I've just smiled, for the first time in days Smile

That was an amazing thread, it was only a few posts long.

Post 1, poster A
I'm thinking of buying this pushchair to take on a plane on holiday.

There may have been a handful of comments

Post 2, poster A, a few years later
Don't buy it, it's rubbish. We bought one for the same purpose. Fell apart instantly.

Apollonia1 · 11/10/2022 09:54

I love these nostalgia threads. When I recognise all the threads, makes me realise how many years I've been on MN.

There was a funny one a few years ago - I can't remember the details, but someone's neighbour was parking in their space, and the OP put a gnome in the space and dressed it up and took photos. Doesn't sound great, but it was very funny!

There was also a poster called Phyllis-something who had a child, and she was so proud of everything the child did. Her posts were hilarious - would love to hear how her son it doing now.

Somerville's threads were lovely too - so glad for her happy ending.

No-one has mentioned the one where a neighbour built a door into her garden (of a listed building). Was this a fake thread?

I love the "styles fail" thread - literally laughed outloud with tears! For example, the person who cut their hair short and dyed it bright red, and said they looked like "a fat match".
