What is the most memorable thread on here?

What's yours? I remember the Dumped By Text one a couple of years ago (by the girl who ran in the rain!) She was very inspirational.

OP posts:

The poster whose daughter lost a toy mouse.

Various MNers wrote postcards from around the world to the little girl (from the mouse) while lots of people helped find an exact replica

Some time later, the replica arrived at the house

The way the poster wrote was lovely - the little girls joy was palpable.

Topped off by the OP updating some years later, now her daughter was a teen. The teen had been clearing some things (I think), and had some across the mouse, with postcards. The OP showed her the thread. Tears all over again.

strawberriesarenot · 09/10/2022 17:58

None of the above.

It was Pink Peter.

With Cutted Up Pear an honourable runner up.

Albgo · 09/10/2022 17:58

Oh this one. I've read it more than once.

LizBuin · 09/10/2022 17:58

The one where the OP had inherited a house with sitting tenants. She was asking for advice, I can't remember if it was to do with rent or whether to sell it, anyway someone replied that she should give the house to the tenants. The way it was worded was something like "But you won't do that will you?" as if it was really mean of the OP not to give a house away.

One of the first classics I read was the cutted up pear thread. I know some are sick of it now but I was on the Balonz thread at the time and that was really funny.

Yes, I was on the Balonz thread in real time and it was hilarious - people were genuinely so confused and the OP played it brilliantly.

Screaming at the Sistine Chapel has to be up there.

Also the lemon drizzle cake got a bit out of hand in the end but the start of it was so funny - Fuck. You. Bitch.

Dating after being widowed, Summerville.

Expatting · 09/10/2022 18:00

I have been here for years but never heard that one! It sounds lovely - especially the girl finding out as a teen. Don’t suppose you can the op’s name can you?

I love the spoon nestle/saucer thread. A poster wanted a little nestle for her spoons but couldn’t find what she wanted. A poster on her thread made her a set and they were beautiful - she has used some glass in them that someone had given her (memory is hazy) but it just added to the story even more. Made my heart swell.

A relationships thread which went on for four threads, with her gradually realising she needed to get out and going on and doing it. Her situation was a lot like mine had been a few years earlier.

Another really inspirational one was the woman who was left by her two year bf by text - he said don't bother replying. With the support of all the other posters, she never did - his surprise, confusion, irritation etc were just brilliant to see. She was fantastic.

I think I saw that, lost track and thought she'd never leave. Was she very academic and went on a lot about how he never did chores?

I adored the recent one about the mystery creature, plus the one about our now dear departed CatThiefKeith being locked out of her sister's house. She had me in fits of laughter through that thread and I felt very attached to her. Her threads were always so much fun.

EmmaH2022 · 09/10/2022 18:03

I had no idea about the MP one.

SilentTreatmentKiller · 09/10/2022 18:03

The "can't open the jar" thread. It was sent to another MN I believe. I must try and find it.

YellowRedBlueGreen · 09/10/2022 18:05

Oh also - Birdie Friend!

OP posts:
Invisableperson · 09/10/2022 18:05

The baby born addicted and MNetter fostered the baby through withdrawal etc and she then became ill and died

One of the first threads I ever read. Still saddens me

Namechanger1002 · 09/10/2022 18:05

Re John Hemming - I had a long thread on here many years ago and he sent me weird message too.

Humobean · 09/10/2022 18:06

Brian from Hull and Has my fridge found religion?

foxlover47 · 09/10/2022 18:07

@YellowRedBlueGreen i remember birdie friend !! I became well invested in that ha ha
Snapped and farted always makes me
Laugh

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 09/10/2022 18:07

Balonz was very memorable, and hilarious but
@DisgracetotheYChromosome's enthusiastic declaration that he was going to be a grandfather was memorable in its utter loveliness.

Begoniasforever · 09/10/2022 18:07

Obviously Sistine chapel and there was one where a woman was being anally raped by her husband, sitting bleeding in the shower of a morning, it was horrific and she was going to stay with him.

on a lighter note the one from the other day where the woman was making roast dinners, plating up and immediately freezing them for Sunday dinner. I still can’t even get my head round that 😂

A580Hojas · 09/10/2022 18:08

Mouldies thread 1. Followed by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Absolutely riveting. The only time I've not been able to switch off and go and do something more useful instead.

Smilelesstalkmore · 09/10/2022 18:08

Oh yes Brian from Hull was awesome, I was on that in real time too!

'My yoni says noni' has to be one of the all time best lines on Mumsnet ever😂

Hoppinggreen · 09/10/2022 18:10

Igotoworktopaybills · 09/10/2022 17:54

My favourite one was thread about Taken - still makes me laugh when I think about 😂

im sure there are a few I will have to think now

I think I remember that.
It was about what your Dad would do if you were kidnapped.
It was very funny

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 09/10/2022 18:14

A sad one I remember, and occasionally wonder what happened, must be 10 years ago - a young (20s) girl in a relationship with a considerably older man (40s/50s). He was a complete cocklodger, didn't work, totally scrounged off her. She didn't see that she was utterly being taken for a ride full of empty promises. She worked nights and posted on AIBU when she got in one morning and found that he had eaten all her breakfast food including a particular brand of peanut butter. Her whole situation unraveled over several pages, and she finally accepted that she needed to leave him. There was genuine concern about her well-being. I've never been able to find the thread again, and would love to know if she did leave him.

Msgrieves · 09/10/2022 18:16

dumbstruckdumptruck · 09/10/2022 17:38

Screaming at the Sistine Chapel, and the redheaded poster whose first Brazilian wax looked like a fish finger 😂

Ah, and the woman who took her baby to the doctor, and when the doc said "put one hand on his head and the other on his belly", she put the baby's hands there instead of her own....

All left me crying with laughter...

Omg you have reminded me of that thread with the poised baby, that really fucking tickled me. I almost want to embroider the scene Grin

A plea for help in finding this Maileg Mouse! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/1717943-A-plea-for-help-in-finding-this-Maileg-Mouse

Here you go! Enjoy! Absolutely beautiful thread.

OP first posted in 2013 when her DD was 7; and gave an update this summer - DD is now 16 and loves the story.
