Going to France! We have rented a small apartment and it is the first time DH is coming away with us in 3 years as well because he absolutely hates going away from the home and because we have always tag teamed annual leave as we have no holiday childcare options for various reasons.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 14/10/2022 19:43

Ridiculous 2 week half-term, so most of first week visiting family in Ireland, then second week I work and DS goes to holiday club. We will fit in a pumpkin trail and trick or treating.

00deed1988 · 14/10/2022 19:46

We have 2 weeks. Going to see Flying Scotsman on Sunday, Butlins next week then working 2nd week but going to try and do chessington one day and kids spending some time with grandparents while we work.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 14/10/2022 19:47

We don’t break up until 28th October but then we’re going to Turkey

IwishIwasSupermum · 14/10/2022 19:51

New York with DH & 2 teenagers, all beyond excited 😆

Monkeybutt1 · 14/10/2022 20:08

We have 2 weeks here, we are in South Yorkshire. As DS goes to an academy they trialled 2 weeks in October and everyone preferred it. We are flying to Mexico on Monday, we cannot wait

A week in the Peaks, just DD12 and me. In 8 hours !

namechanged221 · 14/10/2022 23:42

We are going to the Cairngorms for 4 days. Then I have a bit of work on and kids will be chilling at home. Following week I hope to get away on my own for a couple of days to do some hill walking. Then back to work...

Billyhargrovesmullet · 15/10/2022 00:33

A trip to York to the ghost shop in the shambles then the designer outlet . Also thinking of going to Chillingham castle as well as we’ve never been

WeeblesWibbleWobble · 15/10/2022 00:42

22nd park play date. Evening bowling

23rd play date at friends, then local attraction for a few hrs with them

24th ball pit Halloween party midday , then DB SIL and kids coming round.

25th national trust day

26th Halloween ball pit party different location

27th Halloween event

28th crafts day with friends, probably here

29th Halloween party at local club in the evening.

30th local farm Halloween event

31st inset day, maybe Farm or soft play then trick treating, the whole neighbourhood comes out and is great fun.

Work

Tenerife for 10 days. My school has two weeks but our second week is after the traditional half term week. DD(4) only has one week so taking her out of school for the second week as it’s so much cheaper to go away. Really looking forward to going away but also slightly mourning the child-free week I could have had off work (I’ve not had a day to myself since she was born)!

I did at secondary, until this year our DC's primary school did (they have ten days now - go back on the Wednesday following the HT) and the local secondaries around here do too.

popandchoc · 15/10/2022 15:16

@Doughnuts68 the knebworth thing is just a load of Halloween activities and a trail i believe. www.knebworthhouse.com/events/knebworth-gardens-halloween-adventure/

FizzyStream · 15/10/2022 15:18

Cape Verde all inclusive for a week. First time abroad since 2019. Can't wait.

Slimjimtobe · 15/10/2022 15:20

Going to a special Halloween event at a farm (went last year and it’s brilliant)

going away for a night about an hour away so nice dinner and bit of shopping

other than that will chill with Disney (new hocus pocus) go trick or treating etc

Near us the state schools dropped a week in summer and added a week to the October half term.

Breathmiller · 15/10/2022 15:28

Just one week here and it's nearly over 😥. Back on Tuesday.

We have pottered about, little day trips here and there, meals out or takeaways, caught up with family, been for a swim at our local spa hotel, I had a massage, got my hair done, dinner and cinema trip one evening just me and dh which was lovely. It's been great actually to not be manically running around and lots of these things were with vouchers we had so not spent a lot.

Would have been nice to get away even for a few days but we're doing renovations at the moment that seem to eat money. We kind of just followed our noses most days with no real plans which was good. I feel rested.

I'm kind of envious of those that still have there's to come. It will be a long term til Christmas now.

Scanner20 · 15/10/2022 19:04

Halloween trails - country park and local farm, Halloween movie afternoon, Halloween party and we will carve pumpkins. Probably some baking one afternoon and having some much needed down time. Catch up with a few family and friends. Usually a pretty chilled half term for us and go with the flow a bit.

Bibbidibobbidiboooo · 15/10/2022 20:18

Husband is away till Christmas and I’m felling exhausted, children are young. Was hoping to do something a bit Halloweeny but will mainly be getting outside and to the park I think. Hoping some mum friends will be about. Not fortunate enough to have childrens grandparents who are interested in spending time with them.
