How many people have you spoken to today?

bloodywhitecat · 08/10/2022 19:19

I haven't spoken to a single soul and am not likely to tomorrow either, it feels weird to not have spoken to a single person in 24 hours.

OP posts:
pensionconfusion · 08/10/2022 22:12

The other three in my house today, a staff member at a coffee shop and a person on the till in the supermarket.

Goldmember · 08/10/2022 22:12

Only DH and DCs as most day tbh.

Livedandlearned · 08/10/2022 22:12

Probably about 50, worked in a busy t&o ward today

AmyFl · 08/10/2022 22:13

Zero

Splodgerbodgerbadger · 08/10/2022 22:15

DH, DD, my friend and her son and 8 people at parkrun.

EntertainingandFactual · 08/10/2022 22:15

Actual conversation:
My Mum in the phone this morning

The odd sentence:
DH in the same room as me - both watching different films, reading, sleeping.

The man at the till - local shop

Text messages:
My DD

i work in a school so have a million conversations a day. Too many - it’s exhausting.
I love not talking to anyone at the weekend.
I think I’d feel very different about my solitary weekends if I didn’t do the kind of work I do.

Notimetothink · 08/10/2022 22:17

3 in real life and exchanged a few messages with others

HighlandPony · 08/10/2022 22:17

In person probably about 20ish, on the phone four, over messaging I have no idea. Too many. I’ve never not spoken to anyone for 24 hours. I don’t think I’ve even done ten.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 08/10/2022 22:21

0( unless my ddog counts!)

Moonatics · 08/10/2022 22:23

Only DP. And I'm ok with that.
At work I speak to so many people, and the radio is a constant. I hate noise and adore my peaceful weekends.
Tomorrow I have to speak to 3 people and i can do that but only just.

barelyfunctional · 08/10/2022 22:25

About 17 in person, 2 in texts/messages.

Hellocatshome · 08/10/2022 22:26

Today just DH, DS1 and DS2, I had to de-people today. Yesterday was far too peopley I must have spoken to over 50 people yesterday.

Tangled123 · 08/10/2022 22:30

My daughter
1 neighbour
My dad
My mum
My SIL
My BIL
5 or 6 Servers at restaurants
1 car park attendant
1 customer service advisor
1 randomer in the street who broke her shoes
2 randomers who also got locked out of the same car park

So 16-17 people. That wouldn’t be normal for me though, it would usually only be a third of that.

MaydinEssex · 08/10/2022 22:32

Only my partner, but I've been ill all week so haven't been out.

PinotPony · 08/10/2022 22:33

In person...
5 people at the gym
2 x kids
Ex-DH
DP
Man at tyre shop
Colleague at corporate football do
Bar staff

FourChimneys · 08/10/2022 22:33

DH
DD
Friend who is staying tonight
Three neighbours
Four shop staff
DPD man
Postman
Random small child who wanted to show me how many conkers he had collected (and his mum)

There is an elderly lady who goes to the local convenience shop three or four times a day, just buying one or two things at a time. The staff are lovely and always have a minute to chat. They know where she lives and have said they would check on her if she didn't appear. Small social interactions are so important for many people.

specialk9 · 08/10/2022 22:34

Husband
3 children
My Mum
My boss
My best friend
Waiter
My MIL & FIL
2 nieces & 1 nephew
Husbands Grandparents

15!

Ponderingwindow · 08/10/2022 22:36

More than normal. I went into a shop today. I told a clerk I wasn’t having trouble finding what I needed and then told another clerk thank you at the register.

yerdaindicatesonbends · 08/10/2022 22:37

10, but 6 of those were at a birthday party DD was at. 2 more on WhatsApp.

This is a lot for me lol.

Navigatingnewwaters · 08/10/2022 22:38

CherrySocks · 08/10/2022 19:39

Hi OP, I feel like this is something within your control though? You could go to places and chat to people? You could phone people? You could arrange to meet up with someone?

What a novel thought…

APlanetFarFarAway · 08/10/2022 22:40

5 family members
3 neighbours
1 friend on phone
2 conversations with strangers but that's not normal for me.

MuddyLuddy · 08/10/2022 22:40

3 - dh , woman on the bread counter at M & S , and the till person .

FreezyFreezy · 08/10/2022 22:44

A message to my niece this morning but that wasn't spoken
My two children, who live with me because they're only 10 & 11
Dh, but not as much as normal as he's been out for the day
A relative who popped over this aft
A delivery person who asked for directions because he was lost

goldfinchonthelawn · 08/10/2022 22:45

OP, I often have days like this. Feels a bit weird.

But today - really short conversations with:
gym instructor
couple of women at the gym
an ex gym instructor who I saw briefly
another gym instructor who I know by sight

said hi to a neighbour

slightly longer conversation with an old friend

proper conversations with DH face to face and on the phone with both DC.

So - conversations with four people and tiny social interaction with another six people.

I made myself do things like join fitness classes, go to church etc so I would increase social interaction. I'm quite solitary by nature so need to push myself not to get too isolated.

AutumnalCosyness · 08/10/2022 22:46
