How long were you dating your partner before you got married?

Was having a conversation with my cousin about how long you should date someone before you consider marriage and wondered about other people's experiences. I've heard about people getting married after only months of dating and still together years later and people who waited years to get married and have ended up divorced!

Married 15 months after we started dating, moved in together after 6 weeks. 22 years married, divorcing as he’s a cheating twat.

Together 3 years before we got engaged and had been together 4 years by the time we got married. I probably knew after the first 6 to 12 months that he was definitely the one.

Engaged after 2 years, married after 3 years, DS1 after 10 years.

11 years together. Not yet married but we will be. Lived together for 10 years.

13years but I was only just turned 17 when we first got together. Married 7 yrs now.

Got together at 17, married at 30, 2 kids and a cat later still going strong at 35 🤷🏻‍♀️
I quite like him and fancy the pants off him still 😃

Engaged after 3 years together (2 of those living together) then married after a 3 year engagement. Got married last year so still early days!

Got engaged after a year and married a little over a year after that. Been together 34 years now.

Dated for 4 months, engaged for 5 months and been married for 4 years with one DC

Engaged after two years, married by three. DH also happened to be my best friend for a couple of years before we got together, and we were all in a group with my then previous boyfriend. That was a bit awkward for a while.

We have been together for 32 years, so obviously it's good to marry your best friend 😁

6 years, but we met when we were 17, so there was no rush.

I think the time living with them is more important than the time dating them. 6 months- 18 months honeymoon period, then the real person can be seen.

Never get married before finding out if they scrub the toilet after they’ve used it! 😁

We were dating or "going out" for about 2 years before dh moved in. We had children and then got married. We'd been together for 5 years before getting married.

10 years, almost to the day. lived together for 8 years.

Engaged after 5 months.
Married at 4 years.

Still together 26 years later.

Together 9 years in March, married just over a month. Let's see how it goes.

Together for 4 years before engagement. Got married 3 years after that thanks to covid! Been married a year now and together 8 years.

Dated for a couple of years, then lived together a couple more years before we got married. Married for 25 years now and still going strong.

Dating for 6 weeks and then got engaged. Engaged for 7 months so from dating to marriage was 8 and a half months. Been married for nearly 8 years now.

5 years

lived together after 9 months, engaged having been together for 2.5 years, married 6 months later. Then DC came along when we’d been together, all in, for 5.5 years.

7 months- married a decade. People tutted at the time but we have outlasted some of our peers who waited longer.

Engaged 11 months after meeting and married 11 months after that. (No living together first in those days.)

Waited 15 years to have DD.

Very happy still after 43 years.😊

Married within a year.

Got engaged after 1 year and 3 months. Married 2.5 years after that (thanks covid). Now been married just over a year
