I couldn't think of any good reason for her not to when she asked and thought.... let it go! LOL. So she's happily snoozing away in a one piece!

Any times you've decided not to bother fighting/dying on a hill/gone "ah screw it"?

Oldest Ds used to insist on going to the grocery store with me wearing his usual shorts and teeshirt, and his wellies and a cowboy hat. We got looks, I couldn't care less, he was happy I got to buy the food in peace.

Upnorthen · 04/10/2022 21:44

Odd shoes and socks. She hates wearing matching pairs.
As long as they are fairly similar shoes so it's not uncomfortable i.e one pink trainer and one black I don't care- even went to first day of nursery with them!

christinarossetti39 · 04/10/2022 21:46

When he was about 4, my ds insisted on me sewing some white fabric around the sleeves and bottom of his red dressing gown, which he wore everywhere with matching Santa hat.

Started at Xmas and ended around July of the next year.

When DD1,, as a 2yo, pretended to be a cat for an entire visit to a relative on DH's side.

When DD2 decided to put her onesie over her uniform so she was already ready for the next day - the first time I didn't realise she'd done it.

When DD2 asked for a box of any large item that was delivered and then slept in it. That continued until she was about 8 and I have a full range of pics of her snoozing in vaccuum cleaner boxes etc.

My 2 year old cries for a sponge. Washing sponge, bath sponge, it can be any type of sponge. She will then take it everywhere with her, keep smelling it and slowly pick at it. If I take it off her the crying starts and doesn't stop so I just give it to her.

LynetteScavo · 04/10/2022 21:53

DS 2 once went to sleep wearing arm bands. He'd refused to take them off all day. The other mums at toddler group obviously thought I was lame for not forcing them off him.

IndiGlowie · 04/10/2022 21:54

I was put to bed in red wellington boots at the age of 2 . I refused to take them off

Fink · 04/10/2022 21:56

A hat, scarf, and gloves over a summer dress so she could pretend she was sailing to the Arctic (in June). I've still got the photos. She's a teenager now.

H1Drangea · 04/10/2022 21:59

DD used to go to bed with a Bourbon biscuit in each hand , in case she was hungry in the night
She often ate them in her sleep
she’s 23 now and has perfect teeth

Motherland101 · 04/10/2022 22:01

2,5 YO insisted on dipping every single bite of his omelette into his water cup at dinner the other day. He ate all his dinner and drank all his water afterwards so as disgusting as it was, I let it go...🤮

'Eating' tomato soup with a straw. Little phase that luckily was short lived and only took place at home

Figmentofimagination · 04/10/2022 22:11

5 year old DS likes to match the colour of his clothes. So wearing bright yellow T-shirt, yellow shorts and yellow socks, or all orange, or all red.

He likes to eat ketchup with a spoon 🤢

And every day he brings downstairs 2 happy meal toys (currently 2 Smurf's), 2 tissues, DH's watch and his 2 favourite soft toys. He will put them on the sofa and then not touch them all day apart from 1 favourite toy. Then back up the go at bedtime. And repeat.

Wbeezer · 04/10/2022 22:11

My youngest used to insist on wearing all sorts of costumes and eccentric clothing choices and I let him, he's now a fashion student!

Both of mine used to wear wellies and swimming goggles in the bath. Good times !

Hahaha, not really related but I remember when I was little insisting on wearing these elasticated protective sleeves, like a painting apron without the apron, to watch my siblings have their swimming lessons. To my little 3-year old brain that made perfect sense as they were waterproof! I can see how the wellies-water-bath connection made sense!

Meceme · 04/10/2022 18:32

My daughter went to sleep with her new wellies over her baby grow when she was about 2. Not worth the argument. I just used to slip them off when she was asleep.

@Meceme this was my oldest when he was younger n I had to slip them off wen he was asleep then he would go nuts in the morning coz they weren’t on his feet. He went through a faze of constantly wearing his wellies. Wouldn’t take no as an answer. And it happened to be during a hot summer so he was going about in his shorts n t-shirt. And wellies lol

AdoraBell · 04/10/2022 22:18

DD2, 3yrs old, wanted to wear thick winter trousers because of the stripes. It was nudging 40 degrees in Chile. I wanted her to wear anything less heavy due to the heat and we were going to a BBQ. I gave in.

Other parents were amused when their DCs were pulling a dog’s tail. When the dog snapped my DD, who didn’t join in, was walking past and her trousers stopped the dog’s teeth breaking her skin.

Oh gosh @AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps ! We had similar with DC in the middle of winter (landlady visited and raised eyebrows). I resolved it by letting bathtime be done in the bathing suit so it had to come off to dry 😁

lovely thread

My 13 yo didn’t want to go to school this morning. I just shrugged and went out to work. She got there just in time.

My son aged 4 protecting us from dragons (traffic on a distant road).

thegreylady · 04/10/2022 22:23

This was 48 years ago so not identifying at all

MrsPerfect12 · 04/10/2022 22:24

My daughter used to wear her light up shoes to bed.

Tassen · 04/10/2022 22:26

Ah toddlers are fab (well most of the time)
My DD at 3 insisted on going to bed with a little handbag filled with pebbles.
DD is now 16 & an old work colleague of mine still refers to her as Makka Pakka

DD at age 4 had a pet stick dog called Chloe. DD would tie a piece of string around Chloe's 'neck' & take her for a walk down the street.
At night DD would go to bed with Chloe lying on top of the duvet at the start of bedtime but then Chloe would eventually end up under the duvet with DD cuddling 'her'.

LidlCinnamonBun · 04/10/2022 22:31

My children used to wear the most random outfits to bed and in the day. For example my daughter didn’t let me brush her hair for months so it was Amy Winehouse style with the red teletubby in it. She would also wear the opposite weather clothing - swimming costume in the winter/fur coat and big heavy boots in the hot summer.
Photos of them growing up are ummmm . . . Interesting!

I saw a toddler in a hideous mismatched outfit recently with messy hair and it made me miss it so much 🙁

Squeezedsquash · 04/10/2022 22:34

My child has been to nursery with pants on head. On more than one occasion.
