The toddler has gone e to bed wearing her swimming costume... What's your "let it go" story? 😂

I couldn't think of any good reason for her not to when she asked and thought.... let it go! LOL. So she's happily snoozing away in a one piece!

Any times you've decided not to bother fighting/dying on a hill/gone "ah screw it"?

Lord I have a DS with a number of issues around ASD, sensory processing disorder and food issues. My list of let it go is so long I could not even begin. Dummy until 5. Nappies until 6. Right now on occasion he gets victoria sponge for breakfast as he will eat nothing else!! (Jam is one of your 5 a day, right?)

However when he was a very little one (still in a cot) the only way he would sleep is if he had the Argos catalogue in with him.

ReeDeeHee · 04/10/2022 20:50

My mum let me go to school in my wellies when I was about 7 because I refused to wear my shoes. I think she just thought, can't be arsed. Anyway, the novelty wore off quickly.

Whatshallidonowplease · 04/10/2022 20:51

I wish I could join in! 2yo DS is currently still awake, almost two hours after bedtime, asking for the toy cars I told him were sleeping. I’d give them to him now but after this long fighting, I’m hoping he’ll go to sleep.
Tomorrow, they’re his if he wants them!!!

My 6 yr old lives wearing my dads construction hat to the park with gloves on and a Mickey Mouse backpack. I knew we got looks but I didn't care.

MrsPnut · 04/10/2022 20:52

My DD spent a few weeks wearing a spaceman outfit day and night. My parents bought her a Red Arrows jumpsuit to allow for alternating so I could wash them.

SequinsandStilettos · 04/10/2022 20:54

Oreo icecream biscuit sandwich for breakfast

ancientgran · 04/10/2022 20:57

Red wellies and pyjamas for bed. I sneaked in and removed the wellies when he was fast asleep. He lived in the things and eventally the smell was so bad they had to go. I felt mean because the new ones weren't the same apparently. They certainly didn't smell the same.

I love this thread. Toddlers are such weird creatures, and all of the little ones above must have felt so "seen" when their parents allowed them to be themselves. Beautiful to read 🥰

Mine is that my dd at 3yo would wear no less than three tutus for a solid few months. I gave up the clothes battle very early on!

Vampgal · 04/10/2022 21:07

One if mine used to go to sleep in the nude with their wellies on for a while when they were 2....that was an interesting sight! 🤣

CarpeVitam · 04/10/2022 21:08

I love threads like these 🤍

Is today the day you learn about different timezones? How exciting!

We were getting lunch at a deli.
3 year old wanted a roll with chicken goujon, black pudding and cheese in it. I let him have it and DH was disgusted.

This sounds delish 😋

@MolliciousIntent Is today the day you learn how to post on a mumsnet thread without duplicating? Oh wait....

No, I am yet another helpless victim of MN glitches! I shall try and cope, but will likely need another g&t.

My eldest, when she was about 3 was given some pink Peppa Pig moon boots, she slept in them! She "wore" a handbag over her shoulder to sleep another night and refused to take it off. I watched her like a hawk till she fell asleep and retrieved said bag before it strangled her. She also refused to put a play till down the first day she got it, we let her have it in her cot (about 18 months probably) at that point we were big on bed time was 7pm by 9pm we took the oh fuck it, whatever view.
Our youngest, now 9 didn't do any of this, not because she is easier but because she doesn't bloody sleep!!

Readinstead · 04/10/2022 21:19

When my dgs1 was little he loved a bright orange fleece blanket of mine and eventually, after he 'accidentally' took it home with him whenever he possibly could, I stopped asking for it back. He is 9 now and has sleepovers at mine and he always brings that blanket and literally rolls himself up in it at bedtime and I then have to cover him with the duvet.
Dgs2 had to wear the teacosy as a hat when playing with his toy cars but not when playing Paw Patrol. Oh and wellies had to be worn everywhere.

I know of a small boy who would only go to bed with batteries and a screw driver under his pillow (it was the 80's)

I knew one in the 90s too. He had an ASD .His DM had to search him before school to remove them.

Thinkingblonde · 04/10/2022 21:27

Wellies seem to be a theme
.My 2 year old loved her red wellies, insisted on wearing them for bed. I have memories of her wandering around after her bath, naked, apart from the wellies, a dummy and a hat.

Florin · 04/10/2022 21:33

When and he r ds was just turned 2 it was a Panama hat. Dh said I should take it away but I really didn’t see why I needed to fight it so left him to sleep in it all night.

Dh also said before we had ds he would never be one of those parents who went out with their child in a dressing up outfit but many a time did he go out with him dressed as Spider-Man or Batman etc complete with full 6 pack or with random items one day he walked into town holding a small but real saucepan with a plastic croissant in it. He carried it all the way there and all the way back.

Another time he insisted the cat be allowed to walk into town with us and cried so much when I tried to shut the cat back in the house to stop him. In the end I gave in and ended up walking into town and around the shops towing a toddler on his micro scooter with our rather beautiful fluffy cat trotting by his side. Anything for a happy toddler!

RobertsRadio · 04/10/2022 21:33

One year youngest DS insisted on wearing a coral coloured roll necked jumper passed down from his older sister, all day every all through the summer, even on the beach and even when his face was beetroot red from the heat. He really loved that jumper.
Next year it was Wellies all day every day through the summer, even indoors. Happy days.

wibblewobbleball · 04/10/2022 21:35

My two year old went to bed with her new shoes on last week Blush

StinkerTroll · 04/10/2022 21:38

I've just extracted Chop sticks from the bed of my 13 (yes, that's right 13) year old! She was trying to menace her sister with them. This is the one who insisted on going to bed with a pineapple at the age of 6, she's always been a glorious weirdo who dances to the beat of her own drum, long may it continue (as long as it doesn't involve menacing her sister with Chop sticks at 9.30 at night!!)

Whataboutno · 04/10/2022 21:42

@orangepumpkinlobelia Argos catalogues are hard to get these days 😅
