Worst TV/Movie deaths

Watching the final destination franchise again and I’m on number 3 where the girls die in the tanning beds.

There are a lot of gory deaths but I always think this is the worst.

I cannot bear to be in a car behind a lorry carrying logs Grin.

And one famous time, me and dh stupidly watched it before going to a theme park the next day. We were shitting bricks before the ride ended and didn’t go on anything else which was fine as we had taken our two young children anyway.

@MrsWidgerysLodger , no I just googled it, it was from 1983 called 'The Day After". I will have a look at Threads though, as not familiar with that one.

SaintVal · 29/09/2022 22:50

Seeing Bob being killed by the Demodogs in Stranger Things played on my mind for a few nights! There was lots of gore in that series but that particular scene was gruesome.

Threads really scared me back in the 80s. It was frightening and felt so probable at that time.

Whoever mentioned The Fly and it's little human head and then being hit by a rock - that gave me nightmares too!

Qisk · 29/09/2022 23:02

The 1988 corporal killings in Northern Ireland.

Real not fiction and up to their actual deaths shown on live camera. Here

The worst Game of Thrones deaths imo is Lady Lianna Mormont; she is just a young girl fighting and is picked up by a giant and “squished” in his hands.

It’s so awful; I nearly gave up on the series there because she was one of the best characters (but in fact I watched to the end)

SirenSays · 29/09/2022 23:31

Bobby Singer deserved a better death. He should have gone out like a warrior.

In Spartacus Varo and Pietros deaths hit me hard. Licinias death was so shocking after the golden sex scene!

Combo in the final episode of This Is England 90. I really felt like he had genuinely reformed and was embracing his second chance at life.

Not a gory death, but one I found very upsetting was in the recent Sandman series. The scene where Death takes the baby and you can hear the mum slowly realising something is wrong in the background as Dream and Death walk away from the house is utterly heartbreaking.

Yeah that was a really sad scene.

Re the Final Destination log scene, when I was in my 20s my hairdresser was killed when a load of big concrete pipes fell off a lorry and crushed her car.

I remember hearing about the accident and thinking ‘no, couldn’t be…’

At my next appointment, I was sitting in the chair looking around for her. The owner of the salon came out, sat next to me and held my hand, and told me what had happened.

gaymeanshappy · 30/09/2022 03:43

@WingBingo I hadn't seen that before! Nightmares pending..

sashh · 30/09/2022 03:56

I've not seen final destination but I was in a car with my parents when a log slid off the lorry in front of us. Luckily we were behind it at lights and my dad (driving) saw it move so it slid as the lorry went forward.

Dad tried the horn to alert driver but he just drove on, he probably had no idea.

Casualty, way way back, Josh’s wife and kids get blown up in a gas explosion at their house. Josh heard it come in over the radio. The son and the mum are already gone and they get the daughter to hospital and they all try so hard to save her but they can’t get a tube in her throat to help her breathe as it’s too badly burnt and they don’t sedate her because she’ll just die so she’s all charred and in agony and fully aware as they work on her. She then dies wheezing and choking and there’s nothing anyone can do.

Skinnermarink · 30/09/2022 07:41

Sarah’s death in hollyoaks agree definitely!!

I’ve never been able to find the clip since.

when Zoe rushes over but there’s blatantly not much left that’s still in one piece and as the camera pans out the corn is splattered with deep red blood.

Lizzy1980 · 30/09/2022 07:53

The death of any dog in any film has me crying like a baby

OccultGnuNew · 30/09/2022 08:15

The final episode of the Black Adder set in WW1 where they go over the top,

Oh blimey, yes!

And the accountant guy in the lift ☹️

mrsjohnnylawrence · 30/09/2022 10:37

They made a recent final destination that was really, really good.

Figgygal · 30/09/2022 10:44

I know people pinpoint Glen's death in walking dead as where they went too far but for me the worst was Noah being ripped apart in a revolving door I still feel sick over that one

Also, I’m someone with a very strong stomach. I can watch all sorts of horrific horror and it generally doesn’t phase me…but the infamous “Curb Stomp” scene from American History X is one of very few that’s turned my stomach. I think it’s the build up to it. It’s so intense and you know it’s going to happen before it happens.
Actual shivers!

I was tasting concrete and grit all day after the first time I saw that Scene. I was watching it thinking, where's Edward Norton going with this when he asked them to bite the curb......... Oh that's where.

The guy who jumps off the back of Titanic and hits his legs on the propeller, sending him spinning into the water. My shins turn to jelly at the sound 😂

It's a very similar sound to Visery's head hitting the ground after he gets his 'golden crown' I Game of Thrones.

Soubriquet · 30/09/2022 12:28

I think Shireen’s death in GOT is quite horrific

Best not to watch a Dogs Purpose then 😬

CPL593H · 30/09/2022 12:31

Not the goriest (thankfully they didn't show it onscreen) but the death of Princess Shireen Baratheon in Game of Thrones. My jaw literally dropped that they went there.

That's why it's so heartbreaking, because he had truly reformed and then he's betrayed by Milky of all people. The thing is, he's sort of accepting of his punishment at the hands of Milky's relatives. I guess it's because he feels he deserves it? But his reaction when they hand him over to the skin heads is one of pure terror, like he knows exactly what they have in-store for him.
