Watching the final destination franchise again and I’m on number 3 where the girls die in the tanning beds.

There are a lot of gory deaths but I always think this is the worst.

I cannot bear to be in a car behind a lorry carrying logs Grin.

And one famous time, me and dh stupidly watched it before going to a theme park the next day. We were shitting bricks before the ride ended and didn’t go on anything else which was fine as we had taken our two young children anyway.

Also, I’m someone with a very strong stomach. I can watch all sorts of horrific horror and it generally doesn’t phase me…but the infamous “Curb Stomp” scene from American History X is one of very few that’s turned my stomach. I think it’s the build up to it. It’s so intense and you know it’s going to happen before it happens.
Actual shivers!

Glenn and Abrahams deaths in the walking dead. Without a doubt the most horrifying scene I have ever seen

Can't remember the name of this film, but was about 30 years ago and it was about a nuclear bomb going off. Being old the special effects were rather non existent naff. When the bomb went off it showed people, who then turned into a negative image of skeletons, which in turn sort of disintegrated . Spooked the Be Jesus out of me.

Threads?

The laser scene in Resident Evil. Absolutely horrifying. Especially the last one. Just a moment too late! Why did he stand so far forward?!

I had to leave the cinema after this scene. It was horrible. (I also had depression and just couldn't handle things like that.)

3ShotsOfEspresso · 29/09/2022 20:14

Lisa Faulkner being “deep fried” alive in Spooks series 1 😫😫😫

AlwaysGinPlease · 29/09/2022 20:24

@LadyTwinkle yes! That's always haunted me, the way they are conscious long enough to winder what just happened and then...

@TightDiamondShoes 😂 I loved it!

FishFingerSandwiches4Tea · 29/09/2022 20:31

Not gory but I found the death of the police officer in Happy Valley harrowing. He drives over her. Twice.

ShinyPikachu · 29/09/2022 20:37

The bread slicer scene in Fear Street. I watch a lot of horror and gory stuff and not many things stick with me but that one really did.

I still hate being behind a log lorry too.

Agree with this. Also all credit to Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Even though he did that to Glen and Abraham I still like Neegan. Takes some actor to pull that off.

Just remembered another gory one

I know the entire film is gory anyway, but that scene in Hostel where his Achilles heels are cut.

The scream made my spine shudder

Ohh yep. Made my toes curl!!

The first 60 seconds of ghost ship is MESMERISING! Don’t bother watching the rest! 😂

OMG DS24 "made" me watch that - it's justShockShockShock
And Final Destination? The gym one on the parallel bars or the eye operation oneShockShockShock

Oh I still can't drive behind a lorry with logs (or scaffolding poles!) because of that film!

Mine are the first girl swimmer at the start of the film in Jaws. Traumatised as a kid watching that!

Game of Thrones - when the Dornish got his head popped

The one that emotionally floored me, was the death of Opie from Sons of Anarchy 🥺
It was totally unexpected - I really thought that on walking into that room, sacrificing himself for his “brothers”, that someone else would step in to save the day, or that the thugs he’d been put in there with would turn on the corrupt prison officers and kill them instead.
But no 😭 The total brutality of it, the fact that Jax had to watch his best friend since childhood be beaten to death through the glass and be powerless to stop it.
And the look on Opie’s face when he knew it was the end totally broke me.
I sobbed and sobbed for what felt like forever. I watched it with my exH, and he paused the episode to wait for me to stop crying!

Beat me to it. All of this!! Opie 💔

Ooh this one was awful too. Poor woman, that one hurt.

Oh my god I forgot about this one!

I've seen it a few times but still turn my head away and clench my jaw 🤮

THIS! I genuinely think I was traumatised by this scene.

Surprised no one has mentioned Sarah Barnes’s death by faulty parachute in Hollyoaks. Her screams still haunt me!

The Spooks deep fat fryer is brutal. Joyce’s death in Buffy is so effective because it’s portrayed entirely realistically in a series that’s otherwise full of over the top, cartoonish deaths.

Sarah's death has always haunted me! I will never EVER jump out of a plane purely because of that scene...

I didn't actually watch spooks but saw that episode by chance because a housemate used to watch it at university. Awful!

Gindrinker43 · 29/09/2022 21:46

In one of the Kingsmen movies someone is fed live in to a giant mincer, head first, I can’t watch it.

The3rdWatermelon · 29/09/2022 22:02

Jonathan Creek - can’t remember the name of the episode, but there’s a bath which drops people into a hidden tank of water, then closes above them. The deaths weren’t shown and Sheridan Smith was saved, but the thought of being trapped underwater like that gave me nightmares for weeks!

RhubarbFairy · 29/09/2022 22:06

JDM is incredible.

It wasn't even the actual scene that got me, though it was horrifying to watch such loved characters meet such a violent and needless end.

It was the cliffhanger before it, where the screen cut to black but the sound stayed on. Very cleverly done.

Also, yes to the kerb scene in American History X.

SuzySangfroid · 29/09/2022 22:14

Strongly agree with a lot of these. Opie from Sons of Anarchy, the one in American History X, a lot of the deaths in Game of Thrones, Sybil in Dowton Abbey all traumatised me in different ways <shudder>

I also found the one where the man gets locked in an oven in Saw 2 really bad. I don't even know why I watched that movie after the first one!

SuzySangfroid · 29/09/2022 22:15

Oh and to add the scene in Luther where a man crawls out from under a woman's bed while she's just going to sleep 😱

Omg that death! I thought they'd show them jumping and then her falling but the close up shots and music and everything. Horrible

The man who's head was smashed through the ceiling in Luther...
Barbara dieing in Call The Midwife...
