I couldn't work out after that if everything was a dream or just the Bobby bits. And why wouldn't dream focus on other people......put me off too. Don't mess with the timeline.

I can’t think who it was, but a more minor character was killed off not long after Bobby and they had to bring her back too, because effectively Pam had dreamed her death as well!

Also, in Knots Landing, Gary Ewing had been shown as grieving for his brother - so because they didn’t want to scrap an entire season of that show, Bobby just stayed dead there!

I should hope so too!
It’s a desperately weak storyline.
I think Sue Townsend used that plot twist in a book that was crushingly disappointing..
A book about The Queen living on a council estate.

I kind of got the point though in The Queen and I - when the Queen says “Oh God, what a nightmare!” at the end, you don’t know whether she’s referring to the actual nightmare, or whether waking up to realise she’s still living her old life is the nightmare.

Unfortunately Sue Townsend ruined it by ignoring huge chunks of the original plot in the sequel 🙄 I loved her books, but continuity was never her strong point.

@MichelleScarn I have very fond memories of being home and watching Sons and Daughters and eating tomato soup. Maybe I was ill and off school or summer holidays? Felt like a midday sort of show. We also used to record Neighbours when it was on early afternoon before it became popular and moved to an early evening slot.

My sister and I watched Prisoner Cell Block H on a small 14 inch portable tv in our room. Never forget hearing Vinegar Tits as an insult for the first time, we were howling with laughter.

Loved all the Dallas and Dynasty stuff, felt like a million miles from our home life. Could not believe it when Bobby came back to life.

Does everyone else remember the words to theme tunes from your childhood? Obviously with Dallas, epic theme tune, we just used to sing dur dur durrr etc. It's all coming back, Chips, Dukes of Hazard, Fall Guy, Midnight Caller, Knightrider brilliant tv.

JustlookingNotbuying · 28/09/2022 09:12

God, that makes me feel old.
I was 13. If I remember rightly Dallas was on a Wednesday night. We loved watching it as a family.
We used to watch so many tv shows as a family. My kids never watch tv with us, in fact they don’t watch tv at all. TV was so much better in the 80’s.

JustlookingNotbuying · 28/09/2022 09:16

TheBoxOfWhat You can still watch many of those tv shows on Forces TV. We often watch CHiPs of Dukes of Hazzard.
The Fall Guy was my fav, I was in love with Howie lol!

piegone · 28/09/2022 09:19

We have the Dallas box set stashed away, just waiting for us to settle down on the sofa for a few months...

I always think that, we had so few channels, that they had to make quality stuff ,( although wether Dallas was quality is debatable) lots of channels these days is just filled up with rubbish imo.

This is what I'm hoping for, to explain the last three years.

make that since the referendum…

viques · 28/09/2022 09:22

I remember how windy the scenes shot at Southfork always were. I remember thinking I wouldn’t fancy trying to eat my breakfast in a howling gale every morning.Terry Wogan used to make very funny comments about the programme, I don’t think he took it seriously at all(shame on him!)

36 years! Loved Dallas JR was awesome. It was all a dream still not as bad as the aliens in Dynasty 😂.

Wait, what?

andtheweedonkey · 28/09/2022 07:56

At the end of every episode, my lovely Auntie used to say
"And you think you've got problems..."
Grin

Fucking bless 😂Your aunty sounds hilarious. I love how on Dynasty (original and reboot on Netflix) and Dallas, they have all these problems… but also millions and millions of dollars. Also, didn’t they have a reboot of Dallas for like two years? (Just Googled, yes, in 2012). Erm, I think I’ll go ahead and take the millions and millions of dollars - ALL my problems would disappear except the major one, and maybe even that one would disappear if I had enough to bribe Death? Buy His horse some lovely treats?

Ha! Yes I remember that too! Victoria Principal was always having to hold her hair off her face. Jock should have popped to the barn to get a beach style windbreak

Titsflyingsouth · 28/09/2022 09:29

😂😂😂 Definitely the lamest storyline Dallas ever did...

MrsCarson · 28/09/2022 09:33

Lamest story line ever.

KillingMeDeftly · 28/09/2022 09:33

I was only a child at the time but IIRC the actor who played Bobby left Dallas because he wanted to go on to bigger and better things and when that didn't happen he asked to be taken back?

Didn’t Terry Wogan used to refer to Lucy Ewing as The Poison Dwarf? 😆

BitossiBlues · 28/09/2022 09:47

Sorry to be pedantic, but I believe Pam was Bobby's ex- wife at that stage. He was engaged to the Jenna Wade character (Pricilla Presley) in the series in which he was killed. He and Pam reconciled just prior to him being run over, and I don't think the wider family knew, hence her grief was even greater. He was run over by the woman who had broken up his marriage to Pam, Katherine (Pam's crazy sister), who was also in love with him.

The 80s. So shit in so many ways, yet the TV and music of the era give me such happy memories of my teen years.

Don't think Forces TV exists anymore, sadly. I enjoyed watching loads of classics from the 80s and having a nostalgia fest, whilst chortling at how crap most of it was.

Yes I remember that ,it didn't look that great being out in the windy patio, and j can't imagine the pool was that warm!

He didn't give it long he was only gone one season!

Ha ha, 36 years ago?? I remember my mum telling me and dsis to have our baths and pjs on early, on a Wednesday(?) night, so that we could stop up to watch Dallas. 🤣🤣 Which one got abducted by aliens?

Yes, exactly. Or back to 2014 when we were still whinging about the EU's (non-existant) bent bananas policy, invented by a lovable shock-haired journalist, back when Donald Trump was just some loudmouth on the US Apprentice, and way before the lovable shock-haired journalist became PM, and Covid did untold damage. If only it were all just a dream!

The best theme tune was
The Greatest American Hero.
