I was an early teen when Bobby reappeared in the shower 🤣 i think I remember it being in the newspapers before that he was coming back so we were all tuning in ready and waiting for him !!!!
Dallas was huge!!!!!!

Thank you for replying, that was nice of you! I can just imagine it now. I bet you didn't expect him to be in the shower though!

All storylines must have rewinded six months! They really, really wanted him back!

hiredandsqueak · 28/09/2022 07:56

Used to watch Dallas with my Dad, it was one of the few programmes he watched. So we'd sit together with sandwiches just the two of us, precious memories.

andtheweedonkey · 28/09/2022 07:56

At the end of every episode, my lovely Auntie used to say
"And you think you've got problems..."

Samcro · 28/09/2022 07:58

wow I feel old. used to love that and Knotts Landing.

mondaytosunday · 28/09/2022 07:58

Really was the final nail in the coffin for that show when they did that. Loved it though!

MichelleScarn · 28/09/2022 08:02

Also remember Sons and Daughters and Cell block H.
Back when tv shows had great theme songs.
"Sons and daughters, lobe and laughter, tears and sadness and happinessssss" and
"You used to bring me roses, I wish you would again, but that was on the outside, and things were different then, on the outside the sun still shines" 😁 good times!

I was more a Dynasty fan. The alien story was hilarious 😂
And when Linda (?) Carrington had an evil double!
Was there not a Who Shot Alexis too?

I think that was the Colbys of Calofornia ?

Florenz · 28/09/2022 08:07

It basically killed Dallas, you can't have people watch an entire season of TV and then tell them that "it was all a dream" without making them feel that they've wasted their time. If they'd wanted to bring Bobby Ewing back, fair enough, come up with some convoluted reason why he's not dead, don't just retcon the show back to before he died.

AllThatHoopla · 28/09/2022 08:10

Yes, all the storylines were abandoned so it was really hard to get back into it. I seem to remember Ray was about to adopt a little boy. Then he was just gone. And wasn't Pam married to someone else? Confused

Georgeskitchen · 28/09/2022 08:15

It was a very silly story line and I stopped watching it soon after.
I did, however, watch all the episodes I had missed years later on UK gold. A great way to spend maternity leave afternoons 😀
Followed immediately afterwards by Juliet Bravo

Omg 36 years! I used to love Dallas. That storyline was rubbish though. I always thought a better storyline would’ve been Bobby was kidnapped and replaced with a lookalike just before the accident, and it was the lookalike that was killed not him!

ClinkeyMonkey · 28/09/2022 08:20

I also stopped watching. No character's popularity could ever justify this nonsense. But it's nostalgic to look back on it all the same.

I loved the Australian programmes. Always the same actors popping up in the same ones. I think I read some where that they didn't have many actors in Oz so the same ones where always appearing 😀😁

BatteryPoweredMammy · 28/09/2022 08:24

I preferred him in The Man from Atlantis. 🥰😂

KimWexlersPonyTail · 28/09/2022 08:28

'Swellin you aint nothin' but a drunk and a no good mother! Said almost every week. Poor Sue Eillen, talk wnout a coercive relationship.
JR was shot by Bing Crosby's daughter and the shower scene was the idea of Patrick Duffy's wife. He played Bobby.

slowquickstep · 28/09/2022 08:31

I wish we had re-runs of Dallas and the spin-off Knots Landing.

That would have been far more believable 🤣🤣

MajorCarolDanvers · 28/09/2022 08:33

I used to watch it with my gran at her house. My parents wouldn't let me watch it so big treat when staying over at the GPs

No OP, i think you'll find 36 years ago a women woke to find she wasn't the bride at the previous day's wedding {if i recall correctly, she thought her old flame.new husband was in the shower}

And that the guy in the shower had cost several actors their job {anyone new in the year long dream had to go}

And he was still dead in California {Knots Landing}

diddl · 28/09/2022 08:35

36yrs!

Loved it at first!

Have a vague recollection of Lucy & Ray(?) in a barn?? in the first episode?

BoopBoopBoDiddley · 28/09/2022 08:35

Interesting fact. Suella Braverman, whose real name is Sue-Ellen, turns out she was born one month after JR got shot 😂😂 Her mum was definitely a fan of Dallas

oakleaffy · 28/09/2022 08:36

Lampzade · 28/09/2022 03:53

My English teacher would knock of marks if students ended any essays with ‘it was a dream’

I should hope so too!
It’s a desperately weak storyline.
I think Sue Townsend used that plot twist in a book that was crushingly disappointing..
A book about The Queen living on a council estate.

It could have been worse she could have called her Miss Ellie 🤣

Jconnais1chansonquivavsenerver · 28/09/2022 08:47

Thank you for the memories, @Jenasaurus, I remember it well!

AtrociousCircumstance · 28/09/2022 08:51

I really enjoyed the storyline where Sue-Ellen got herself together and started a fashion business, then hired JR’s mistress (Mandy?) as a model.

Dallas was amazing Grin
