Monthly?

OP posts:
Galadali · 27/09/2022 15:44

We will be paying a ridiculously low £7 per month once they apply the £67 government handout.

InSpaceNooneCanHearYouScream · 27/09/2022 15:50

We don't wear clothes/use towels once/wash bedding often either. And we don't excessively bath or shower. And we don't leave lights on. But there are 5 people living here and it's a 4 bed house. £312

InSpaceNooneCanHearYouScream · 27/09/2022 15:51

That should say we don't only wear clothes once. Not we don't wear clothes. We do wear clothes. Blush

I don't know how the fuck everyone's bills are so cheap unless you're all living in 1 bed flats. Which is weird coz I though all mumsnetters earned over 100k
My DD for dual fuel is currently £312, set to rise in October. 4 bed detached. 5 people living here. I'm in credit, but not my much.

We normally pay £75 p/m but have a big credit build-up. 4 beds plus powered outbuildings, 2 adults working from home and 2 gaming mad kids. All the usual appliances, but we only have 1 TV/big screen so we don't all sit in separate rooms watching separate screens. Don't know if that makes a difference, but other than being mindful of not wasting energy I'm not sure what we are doing so different to everyone else.

teenagetantrums · 27/09/2022 15:54

About £45 for electric and £15 for gas.
We pay £67 a month on a fixed deal till next April.
£200 in credit and hopefully that and the government rebate will pay for heating over winter

Mrscooper13 · 27/09/2022 15:56

the whole thing confuses me
i paid £90 a month and with some referral offers I had £350 in credit
moved house hadn’t even had a reading and they said it needed to go up to £240!! I put it to £190.
no smart reader in new house sent a reading for 3 weeks and it’s was £70 combined gas and electric.
these companies are ripping us off and taking our money.

Mrscooper13 · 27/09/2022 16:00

Yes I don’t think they have a clue what they are doing
scaremongering at its best

Gevrgrgrtv · 27/09/2022 16:01

I don't quite understand how so many people's bills are under a hundred quid? For a family? How?

I'm baffled by some of the low bills too.

MintJulia · 27/09/2022 16:16

Aug was £77 for 4 bed house, 2 people, September will be about £85.

Dd is £150 for gas and electric combined.

InSpaceNooneCanHearYouScream · 27/09/2022 16:18

It's like the mumsnet chicken- I've managed to get my energy bills down to £2.50 per year! Smile

MintJulia · 27/09/2022 16:20

That covers me wfh, ds's gaming pc, all the normal stuff but no tumble drier.

I haven't put the heating on yet. House is about 18 degrees so we haven't needed it.

October will be a whole different level. 😏

People live in new, well insulated houses. Or small houses/flats, or are out a lot.

They're on fixes from 6-12 months ago, when prices were much lower. The average bill at that time was around £100 pm.

They pay monthly/quarterly, are talking about summer use and aren't accounting for higher autumn winter use that's coming that will cost more per unit too.

They don't have their heating on much, never at night, for example.

They don't wash towels and clothes after one use/wear or use the quick (but counterintuitively more expensive) washes for all their washing, which they then line dry instead of tumble drying.

They don't take multiple long showers daily or more often. They might, shock horror, shower less often, or shower at the gym/work.

Yanbu. Ovo can't make up their mind. I have emails from them over the last four months saying my dd needs to go to £240, then £211, then £171 and then it can come down by £7.

I'm ignoring all of them. It's obvious they don't have a clue. I've never not paid a bill so I'll just leave it as it is and if it does go into arrears in February, I'll do a bacs transfer.
Maybe Ovo could stop interfering and just let me manage my bill, like a grown up. I'm nearly 60 for Chris sakes, I really don't need their advice.

CollieWobble22 · 27/09/2022 16:29

Scottish Power gave me a useful breakdown for August!!

I didn't know a smart meter was that smart! 😂

How much are your energy bills at the moment?
Desmorelda · 27/09/2022 16:31

£99 gas/electric but pay £120 pm as DD. Am currently £350 in credit. 3 bed stone cottage in the nippy north.

InSpaceNooneCanHearYouScream · 27/09/2022 16:32

@BarbaraofSeville yes, thank you, very good points there. But the last three points all apply to my family, and my house is pretty well insulated too- and it's STILL £312!

girlmom21 · 27/09/2022 16:35

Ovo can't make up their mind.

They emailed me today to say I'm getting a £22 refund. They haven't been my supplier since 2020 but the email included my old account number and came from the same email address as all prior communication so I'll wait and see!

wildseas · 27/09/2022 16:51

My dd used to be 90, went up to 130 for a while and now moving back to 100 per month for gas and electric with the rebate.

Usage varies a bit summer / winter and I’ve built credit through the summer on that. Not price fixed.

4 bed detached, quite well insulated and only 3 of us living hère. I work from home around 50 percent. Am quite eco minded.

crustybreaddarling · 27/09/2022 17:03

£60, gas & electric, 2 bedroom, 2 office house.

Bluebellbike · 27/09/2022 17:25

Around £14 electric and £7 gas per month. Paying £53 DD and am £200 in credit. Moved to this house August 2021 and took on a 2 year fixed tariff so it won't change until August 2023. Eon Next have just told me my DD is £0 from October, presumably due to the £400 rebate. I am hoping they will credit the full £66 or £67 to my account.
