@Katypp Erm yes , which is why I think it's better people do a week with it on as they would normally have it , submit readings and gauge where they are at- same again in late October when new prices are in.
As another poster pointed out to me , some people were struggling last year too so it definitely wouldn't be any better- but I suspect there are some who were fine may be overreacting without actually seeing a bill. To be honest I would expect to be paying at least £150 plus a month for dual fuel even in a small household in all but summer. Probably more like £250 in a bigger house/household. If I check back and mine is like £350 for a month - I will stand corrected!!! (And be skipping the lunch time hour boost) !!
Ive got mine on now and timed and doing a weeks test and will do so in 4 weeks, basically to gauge the bills - if I need to drastically cut down (and im a lot in credit at moment) will do so at that point .
It's the same with food-- I fully admit to shopping mainly at M&S and Waitrose - but I do a lot of yellow stickers, 3 for £8 etc (fish and chicken products) don't buy snacks, cakes , ice cream, lollies or nice little nibbles and I cook and I don't waste much. My son isn't at home anymore but when he was he got what he was given too and snacks were apples, bananas, oranges, toast, cheap plain scones , crumpets , malt loaf etc - my food bills haven't gone up hugely, I've just stopped buying anything I think is poor value . Ive done the occasional Aldi shop too and see peoples trolleys loaded with tons of crap if I'm honest that don't actually constitute stuff to make a meal and could certainly be cut right down ( that's all classes and ages)
