What things do you love that your family and friends don't understand?

I've recently rediscovered the Pro Wrestling of my childhood. It was huge when I was growing up and I get nostalgic when watching old matches.

Also museums, any museum regardless of subject and delis. I'm always looking for something new to try. I can't walk past a deli or Chinese/Japanese/Turkish etc store.

There are others too but I'll have to think about them.

No judgement because there are plenty of things they love that don't appeal to me but is there anything you love that puzzles your family or friends?

Egypt/Egyptology. Anything with Bettany Hughes or Colleen Darnell. So passionate about their ‘stuff’ that I’m infected by their enthusiasm.

Nocluedater · 21/09/2022 06:46

Very early mornings. If I wake at 4.30 I’ll get up. I love sunrise and the quiet when everyone’s asleep. The teenagers are mystified.

BirmaBrite · 21/09/2022 06:57

Charity shops, DH hates them.

ClearButtons · 21/09/2022 08:03

Eurovision! I bloody love it

totallyoutnumbered · 21/09/2022 09:20

I get ridiculously excited about spot and blackhead squeezing. Positively salivate when the teen gets one. DO asked if I wanted to squeeze a spot the other day. Couldn't hide my disappointment at how pathetic it was. I get my fix on YouTube videos 🤣

Itsanewme · 21/09/2022 09:43

All tv related.
Love Island
Married at First Sight
Strictly

BabyJellyShark · 21/09/2022 19:27

You're all such an interesting bunch and I can relate to several of these. Others I want to explore.

Another of mine. Watching Vegan What I eat in a day/week and food shopping hauls. I'll watch non Vegan grocery hauls too but for some unknown reason I find the vegan ones particularly interesting/soothing. Likewise book hauls especially charity shop book hauls.

Also I love looking around churches and cathedrals. I'm an ardent atheist and I know very little about architecture but I can't resist looking around them and admiring the architecture anyway.

Oh and Health and safety videos and accident reports.

I love speaking French and Spanish. Am a teacher but have done some foreign language tour guiding around a UK city in my holidays. Three hours each time speaking a foreign language, paid but not a lot. My friends and family don't understand in the literal sense as they can't understand the languages.

BibiThree · 21/09/2022 19:48

Lego.

heidihigh · 21/09/2022 19:49

When I eat those cheap crabsticks my entire family looks at me in utter disgust. Sometimes I think my DH would never have married and reproduced with me if he had known.

I love crabsticks. I also put them in omelettes and with pasta in a cream sauce. Now I want some.

I like to peel them like cheese strings whilst eating them

Mothership4two · 21/09/2022 20:32

Science fiction in any form / documentaries about the planet, space, history - nerdy stuff (family all watch sport mainly) \ having dry porridge for breakfast

Family and friends take the mickey because my Facebook is basically all about animals

Easy video games. Mario, Animal Crossing, Professor Layton. Not interested in anything harder / violent / designed for adults.

History Podcasts. Dan Snow's History Hit is a bit of me.

The Mail on Saturday big crossword.

Parkrun (I do have friends that understand how much I love it, but I met them at Parkrun so it doesn't count).

Mumsnet. Internet forums in general.

Eating dry pasta; a habit as a kid, don't do it very often anymore but still love crunching a sneaky few pieces of dry fusilli when nobody is around.
