Can't believe how late into thread 3 it is. I went to cook dinner and came back and now this one is nearly finished!

@bellac11 are you being deliberately obtuse and naive?

Just read that they had special nonslip rubber soled boots - thank goodness!

I would have thought that what has gone on would make them less likely to want to stay.

I don’t think whether the funeral makes H&M less likely to stay is the point Maggiesgirl making. I think she was wondering if Meghan now understands what it is to be royal and how it starkly differs from celebrity.

I didn’t notice Meghan in tears. I did see raw emotion from her after the service in Windsor and was really pleased to actually see her, the person.

Theredjellybean · 19/09/2022 18:38

how do you actually know all this ?
you are basing this on one comment on a talk show ?

LondonWolf · 19/09/2022 18:39

I suspect we will hearing a great deal from and about H & M over the coming months so I think it might be nice to try and keep these threads just about QE, and today. Of course though, anyone can post what they like, I'm not The Thread Police Grin

I saw so many really sombre looks on Kate and Will's faces. I wonder if it struck them hard today that one day they'll be singing God Save The King to William as he stands by his father's coffin. And that they'll sing it to their little boy one day too.

Are you the one talking about Harry and Megan, if so, no Im not

Kite22 · 19/09/2022 18:40

Thank you all, for your company and the knowledge of some.

I bet there are many absolutely exhausted, drained, wrung out people tonight. The family, obviously; but those young lads that carried the coffin (and can you imagine being their Mums at home, watching with your heart in your mouth?) ; whoever was in charge of security for the whole day (well, 11 days); whoever was in charge of broadcasting - the camera work has been superb (yet still there are people who resent paying for the BBC ??).

Hats off to all those who have worked tirelessly to make this happen that you never see..... can you imagine the pressure on the cleaners?..... the "reserves" who will have practiced all the ceremonial roles we saw, but never got to step up....the people who taught the choirs.... the garden staff at Windsor who tirelessly took in all the flowers and laid them out like they did.....the police officers who have been away from their homes for days, policing London , many of whom won't have seen anything today, ......all the technical people involved in the broadcasting....all the logistical people keeping all the working staff and volunteers fed and finding them places to sleep. Just amazing. Thank you all.
A fitting tribute and celebration of life to an amazing lady

Oh let's not let this thread become about Harry and Meghan. It's been so lovely up till now

CrabbitBastard · 19/09/2022 18:44

I was fine until I saw the pony, then I blubbed.

Then I cried again when I saw the corgis.

Catherine might one day sing God save the King to George but William never will. He’ll have to be dead for George to be king.

i was emotional over Emma and also when the coffin was lowered

Well said!

He's got a lot on back in the states so I don't think it's odd.

He’s hosting the United Nations General Assembly in New York tomorrow. Liz Truss is flying out for it tonight. Unless they offered her a lift?

Furries · 19/09/2022 18:54

Wow, what a day. I didn’t expect to be quite so emotional, but my eyes are sore from crying. Have just got off the phone - my friend from Oz called to say how amazing it was, he had to put up with me having a short blurb for the first minute of conversation.

Thank you for these threads - I didn’t post, but they kept me company throughout the day as I was watching on my own.

As someone posted earlier, I think I’m going to hearing the funeral marches and swaying in my sleep tonight.

Huge appreciation to absolutely everyone involved today.

For the final time - Thank You Ma’am.

I agree.

geraniumthefirst · 19/09/2022 18:55

Looking back at the news etc, I've just noticed that there was a headscarf draped over Emma's saddle, and it's started me off all over again Sad

geraniumthefirst · 19/09/2022 18:56

Or what looks like one anyway!

TokyoSushi · 19/09/2022 18:57

I absolutely adore Charlotte, she's already fabulous at 7 and I think will have a big part in the RF. I saw that she was wearing a horse shoe brooch on her coat which nearly made my cry in itself!

Of all the things that happened today, it was actually Emma the pony who made me the most emotional. It's been a fantastic send off.

Just realised I haven’t brushed my teeth today and, like the royals, haven’t been to the loo for about 6 hours (though ex NHS so pretty well trained in that respect). Thanks @KenAdams for starting these threads and to all the Mumsnetters keeping me company today, it’s been so different to how it can sometimes be on this site.

We reckoned they all dashed for the loos when they got to Windsor, before the second service started. Also snarfed a quick sandwich or two.

Dave20 · 19/09/2022 19:02

I have a daughter called Charlotte who’s the same age as Princess Charlotte. I hope she can be some kind of role model for her.

BadNomad · 19/09/2022 19:02

Seeing the corgis was sad too. They had no idea their mummy was right in front of them for a brief moment.

LIZS · 19/09/2022 19:03

I hope that the Wales' kids might ride Emma

I wonder why the horses are so agitated? I thought they were trained for big crowds and loud noises? Makes me nervous watching them!

They get restless travelling so slowly
