PH is the worst advert for therapy ever. It's obviously not achieved anything for him. His marriage was a nightmare too. They seem to bring out the worst in each other.

Who?

Dave20 · 19/09/2022 18:13

I think Charles will be ok, as long as he stays out of politics. And keeps Andrew out the limelight.

He's not keen on him is he?

Anny one else wondering watchingMegan in tears, has it finally sunk in what it means to be Royal.

I would have thought that what has gone on would make them less likely to want to stay.

excelledyourself · 19/09/2022 18:16

@PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog not obvious to me, since you're speaking about their marriage in the past tense.

Urgen I hope Charles bends over backwards to make amends to his son who he gave an horrific childhood.

Whether that was his fault/ out of his control...a lot yes, but Harry deserves support. .
I think that would help to bring him to peace.

@elizaregina
I think Charles can certainly reach out on a personal level, but there's not much more he can do for a 38-year-old living abroad. Harry will get more peace from living his own life well, IYSWIM.

I’ve never really understood what a lady in waiting is. If it’s an older person what do they actually do?

Deal with her mail, reply to letters, respond to gifts, accompany her almost everywhere if she goes out, travel with her, make phone calls, collect flowers at events, organise bits and pieces, be a friend, keep her company, help her - absolutely trustworthy and discreet.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 19/09/2022 18:19

He's not keen on him is he?

I think he wants to drop him from some roles. Along with Harry and Beatrice.

Apparently he turns to William a lot, who cut off Andrew. So I think we may see less of him

No, I was talking about the decision to marry.

You said their marriage was a nightmare, they're still together

And what do you mean a nightmare?

Notonthestairs · 19/09/2022 18:21

A truly remarkable funeral.

Everybody who worked on it and the accompanying television coverage should be incredibly proud. (But especially those pallbearers!)

I'm so glad they made it a Bank Holiday so that so many people could watch it.

How lovely. I want one!

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 19/09/2022 18:25

@bellac11 the decision of them marrying was a nightmare. They bring out the worst in each other. Marriage should be the opposite.

vicarlady · 19/09/2022 18:25

wording of the Lord's Prayer varies according to chapels. Some are 'in' and some are 'on'. Other changes as well. 'forgive them' or 'forgive those' etc.

In the Church of England, Book of Common Prayer - in and them.

More recent traditional version - on and those.

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 18:26

Agree, not on the stairs.

Imagine missing it

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 18:28

Pipin

Some would argue the opposite.

Theredjellybean · 19/09/2022 18:29

@PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog is that you Kate ?
i always think when you see them together that he looks very caring and tender towards her
they held hands, he turns to check she is ok, he helped her into the car etc.
As we dont know them personally i don't think anyone can comment that their marriage is a nightmare...

Nanalisa60 · 19/09/2022 18:30

I think the country , Armed forces and the royal family did her proud, really don’t care about all the Andrew and Meghan drama, this was the queens fair well, she will be greatly missed, we will never see another like her.

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 19/09/2022 18:30

@elizaregina Some might, I would not. That's OK.

Adventurine · 19/09/2022 18:32

My grandmother's funeral was 7 weeks ago. She didn't have anything that I felt really honoured her. It was a short service at the crematorium and the next coffin was virtually at the door as we walked out. Like a conveyor belt. We had no time or space to really create a fitting service that felt personalised

Whats the worst of each other and how have they brought that out?

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 19/09/2022 18:34

@Theredjellybean I wish I were Kate. They do all the performative elements of a strong loving relationship, but in reality they seem to wind each other up and play on each other's insecurities. That is not a good relationship. Meghan plays on Harry's issues re his Mum. He plays on her issues re racism. What loving husband would have repeated the alleged comment re Archie's skin? They said on OW it was made to him not her, when he must have known the upset it would have caused, a woman who said she was suicidal? That is not a loving relationship. It is dysfunctional and toxic.
