Most people I know feel like now she’s gone they should abolish the RF. She was the lynch pin for sure.

mmm maybe need to widen your social circle - from what I’ve witnessed it’s renewed support for the RF as people have seen the value of a head off state above political squabbling.

TockClicking · 19/09/2022 17:42

I feel wrung out.

I notice the Bidens left England immediately after the Westminster Abbey part. Am somewhat surprised they were not invited to Windsor.

He's got a lot on back in the states so I don't think it's odd.

I wonder if Harry and Meghan felt a bit humbled watching all the tradition and ceremony?

All the Oprah interviews and podcasts seem a bit trivial in the face of all that history, don’t they?

Well it's the history and the heir and the spare that leave him where he is emotionally.

I don't think it's as black and white as the 2 sides make out.

madroid · 19/09/2022 17:43

I agree @JustLyra he's had an amazing example in the Queen and doesn't really need to change anything. He just needs to keep a grip on his temper, keep Andrew out of anything public and tell HnM to stay schtum.

Does anyone know when King Charles’ coronation will be?

Next summer, they don't like doing big events in winter, and they've already had two big events this year, jubilee and funeral
Possibly tie it together with Trooping the Colour.

SnottyLottie · 19/09/2022 17:44

George and Charlotte were brilliant today. I noticed Charlotte was telling him what to do/guiding George a few times. Maybe she was there as support for George, who was there because he is an heir (?) We know who the boss is in that household 😆I loved her telling her brothers what to do during the jubilee celebrations.

@MynameisJune

"Most people I know feel like now she’s gone they should abolish the RF. She was the lynch pin for sure."

I don't know. If the last week has shown us anything it's that there's still a huge global interest in our royal traditions. Cant see it being disbanded anytime soon.

I agree with this.

I've never been a royalist and I've questioned the hereditary part of it frequently.

But I'm not republican.

But absolutely seeing the world buy into our tradition and seeing stories of the good the queen does it reminds you of their place in the world.

Sadly though they'll be laughing at us for our political choices again by the end of the week!

Only Harry signalled for his wife to go first in the car. Charles, William and Edward just jumped in and let the lady follow.

Probably easier for the man to go first and shuffle along to the other side than the women in their dresses and heels.

PleaseGoDontGoAgain · 19/09/2022 17:45

Andrew /and Sarah Ferguson will care for the dogs apparently. Are they secretly back together?

Those men are all wearing swords that weren't designed for car travel, it makes sense they go in first.

There has been rumours about this for a few years but 🤷‍♀️

Theyve been very close since their divorce which I think has been great for their kids, no animosity by the sounds of it

Wasn't here someone each side to open the doors?

I don't think anyone needed to shuffle across!

Was quite surprised to see Charles do it!

I guess he had had enough& cba/didn't think to go to the other side.

They've been in the same house for years. They moved in together about 5 years after they divorced.

Thank you. I never realised there would be such a gap until recent coverage about the Queen.

RaraRachael · 19/09/2022 17:50

I'm still struggling to find out what the lovely music is that's played at the beginning and end of all the BBC programmes about the Queen over the last 10 days. Anybody?

I was fine until Emma her pony was waiting for her at Windsor 😓

User287264 · 19/09/2022 17:50

I'm indifferent to the actual people but the tradition, history and symbolism is something else. That's worth holding on to. It was amazing today, absolutely breathtaking.

There didn't seem to be, everyone got in the same side although I imagine they could have managed to go round and open their own car door had they really been that bothered.

I think Charlotte has strong Princess Anne potential

GaffNest · 19/09/2022 17:54

It’s weird that that’s it.

Three months ago was the Jubilee with her appearing on the balcony, and you thought things would just continue.

Recorded the BBC montage of the Jubilee and have watched it multiple times since; someone has uploaded it to YouTube

m.youtube.com/watch?v=Mm5XGromJEo

To go from that, to it being all over. RIP Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen became Queen in the February 1952 and Coronation was 16? months later ie summer 53.

I don't think it will be that long partly because of the time of year and partly his will be planned already. Hers wasn't expected and they needed to sort the TV cameras as it was the first big event to be broadcast.

Which funeral march is it that 5 been played in the processions (today and Tuesday)?

I've tried googling, the BBC and can't find an answer.

Not rtft sorry, but they’re Beethoven’s Funeral Marches 1, 2 and 3
