I'm still a republican despite being fascinated by all this. Nothing again them personally.

I notice the Bidens left England immediately after the Westminster Abbey part. Am somewhat surprised they were not invited to Windsor.

@CatsandFish I'm hearing impaired and it definitely was King as King Charles wasn't singing. The Queen never sang God Save The Queen.

I thought that there was something said at the accession that there would be 7 or 10 days after the funeral.

Presumably for family & perhaps certain staff?

Does anyone know when King Charles’ coronation will be?

I think it was just family and personal friends and associates, and British politicians. There just wouldn’t be space.

Have been mesmerised by the services and ceremony all day, watching with DH and DD.
Incredible organisation and beautifully presented by the BBC I thought. Felt for Kirsty Young - trying so hard not to cry.
Emma the pony and the corgis made us all emotional.

There was due to be a reception for foreign dignitaries.

I don't know. If the last week has shown us anything it's that there's still a huge global interest in our royal traditions. Cant see it being disbanded anytime soon.

It helps that she looks utterly stunning in black.

I think people like William and Catherine and they’re incredibly popular so they’re willing to put up with Charles in the interim

I imagine all the other guests and foreign heads of state will have gone to a reception somewhere.
King Charles’ coronation is next year some time, last I heard.

Nothing against Charles but given his age, I’d have forgiven him for passing it straight down to William. But that’s another debate!

No, he'd never abdicate

I thought I'd feel like that, but I don't. I actually found the history and the ceremony incredibly reassuring. It speaks to longevity and stability to me. I think continued modernisation is necessary but I no longer feel like we may be at the end.

I think the popularity will depend on what they do next.

If it stays relatively scandal free. Andrew stays out the lime light. There’s no more drama between Charles and Harry. Just visits to hospices and the occasional inclusion of the Wales children then he’ll be fine.

If he handles Andrew, Harry or the mood of the nation wrong with regard to the coronation and how much he changes things then he won’t be.

if he has any sense then imo he’ll change very little, be uncontroversial and keep things in his mother’s mould. Otherwise some people will point out that he’s doing things differently from a very loved woman who got only a few things wrong in 70 years.

I doubt Charles would want to put that burden on William when he had very young children.

Only Harry signalled for his wife to go first in the car. Charles, William and Edward just jumped in and let the lady follow.

I know the corgis will be fine. But 😭😭
