I'm so pleased I watched it all , I've been mesmerised since 8am

MelodyPondsMum · 19/09/2022 17:21

@RedToothBrush hope you feel better soon.

HideTheCroissants · 19/09/2022 17:22

Than you OP and everyone else.

I’ve had BBC on since 8am. Several times my TV has threatened to go to standby because it hasn’t been touched. I’m going to prepare dinner now and watch something else.

RIP Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. God save The King.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 19/09/2022 17:23

Are there to be more officail days of mourning after this?

I think that the RF might have some official private days (much deserved).

So is there an accurate number of how many people are thought to have watched it around the world, I know someone said 4 billion but that sounds a lot and Im wondering how its calculated

Just seen something that said 5 billion and it's 67% (iirc) of the population.

XXV · 19/09/2022 17:24

What an astonishing thing to watch. So beautifully done.

Thank you for starting this thread, OP - it has been very much in the spirit of the occasion.

BungledBundle · 19/09/2022 17:24

After much googling I finally found the very melodic funeral march. It is Mendelssohn but the first one which came up on YouTube seeme not to be right!

I’m amazed at this

I wonder how they get the figures so quickly

@RedToothBrush hope you feel better soon.

Thanks. Will be fine in a day or two.

HairyMaclary · 19/09/2022 17:26

Does anyone know what the music is that the BBC used over their final montage? It seemed familiar but I couldn’t place it.

Halli2020 · 19/09/2022 17:26

The UK has definitely done the Queen proud today. Lovely service

itsgettingweird · 19/09/2022 17:26

5.1 billion

63% of worlds population.

Nope that's it for us. Party time allowed.

But not for Royals.

KenAdams · 19/09/2022 17:26

I do feel like this will bring a while be chapter for the country.

I think Charles will have a hard time keeping public support for the monarchy and the press will start printing stories they have been holding back on.

Just wow. So proud 🥲

FreyaStorm · 19/09/2022 17:26

The black and white slide show on the BBC news right after the funeral showing the Queen from a baby to recently was so moving.
May she rest in peace.

Most people I know feel like now she’s gone they should abolish the RF. She was the lynch pin for sure.

WildfellAnne · 19/09/2022 17:29

I feel very moved. I’ve watched from 10am. I doesn’t make me feel proud, though. I don’t understand that sentiment at all.

ShirleyJackson · 19/09/2022 17:29

I wonder if Harry and Meghan felt a bit humbled watching all the tradition and ceremony?

All the Oprah interviews and podcasts seem a bit trivial in the face of all that history, don’t they?

purpleme12 · 19/09/2022 17:29

Ah I don't know I wonder if all this has actually made a lot of people favour the royal family more than before....

I wouldn’t worry too much polling doesn’t show this

Charles is very popular - although just a point in time obvs

Violashift · 19/09/2022 17:29

Sad I didn't see her going diwn the vault. Watched all day too. Saw the piper. Can't find it anywhere either.

What the heck? That’s mammoth.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 19/09/2022 17:30

I didn't intend to watch all day, either. As others have said, however it was utterly mesmerising. Our Armed forces and all involved were simply amazing.

Thank you, OP.

Hope everyone enjoys a peaceful and restfull evening.
