Well who cried whilst watching the funeral?

Was watching the funeral with DH and DC in our living room.

I’ve found the Queen’s death quite saddening and I have shed a few tears over the last 11 days, but every time I’m at a funeral the music / hymns always set me off.

Felt quite emotional. What a woman she was!

And you don’t need to tell me how silly I am, DH has told me plenty of times that I ‘shouldn’t be crying about someone I never knew’ 🙄

Exactly. Poor corgis.

I totally get this, I had thought the same too, however I’m guessing they were used to other people looking after them feeding them /walking them etc especially with the Queen being so frail the last few weeks/months (?) and they will know Andrew. I’m not a fan of his for obvious reasons but I’m sure him and Fergie will make a fuss of them as they are a link to his mother

I cried when the Queen's coffin was leaving London. I'm not a royalist but think she was a remarkable woman who made her mark in a man's world! She reminds me of, and is a link to my grandparents who have sadly passed, and she has always been a reassuring constant in my life, when at times things seemed quite rubbish! The idea of her leaving London never to return was too much! And then when the car went past her pony and corgis!

We will never again sing God Save the Queen. That's sad

Yes I know I realised that too, not that I sung it much in my life since I left school. I wasn’t a big royalist but the Queen’s passing had much more of an effect on me than I thought. I cried for a couple of days when I heard she had died and today has been very emotional too watching the funeral

Everytine I thought I'd got a grip of myself something set me off again.

I felt for all of them, but at one point Charles looked directly at the camera & looked so broken I just wanted to pull him through the screen of the TV.

I hope they have a peaceful service later x

I thought Charles had tears in his eyes as they sing God save the King at Windsor

I cried today when the hearse holding Her Majesty’s coffin drove by me in Hyde Park.

I cried the day I heard the words “Her Majesty The Queen has died” back on 8 September.

But I’ve really cried this evening when a montage of the Queen came up on the Royal Family’s instagram page to some emotive music.
I am not a royalist in general but I loved the Queen and I feel a profound sense of loss despite never having met her. Which in itself is making me feel very irrational to be this upset this evening.

I actually wasn’t expecting to see Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, at the funeral today.

He did

BlindGirlMcSqueaky · 19/09/2022 23:22

I missed the full funeral but have been in tears several times over the last ten days, mostly at other people's tributes of stoic grief and the commitment to show respect through every possible ceremony.

She's been there our whole lives. It feels like our anchor is gone.

People can call it hysteria, if that's their perception. All I see is love for a woman who sacrificed her life to be our faithful queen.

Letsbefriends · 19/09/2022 23:26

Yes I cried.

I cried when she was brought out of the Palace of Westminster, and again when the congregation sung the National Anthem…the piper made me bubble a bit more!

Letsbefriends · 19/09/2022 23:34

Queen Elizabeth was his godmother. He tweeted a picture of the ER cuff links he was wearing today.

Celeryfavour · 19/09/2022 23:38

I can't sleep, I've got the funeral marches going round and round in my head. The music was so moving.

Friendofdennis · 19/09/2022 23:40

I found the beautiful rendition of Love Divine emotional The last verse echoed something the Queen once said about one day casting her crown before The King of Kings ( mentioned in the book The Servant Queen) ‘Changed from Glory into Glory til in heaven we take our place, til we cast our crowns before thee, lost in wonder love and praise ‘. . The majesty of the music and words and thinking of her sincere faith made me well up.

MajesticWhine · 19/09/2022 23:45

Been blubbing all day from about 10:45am right through. It's been very emotional and beautiful music always sets me off. Need to get back to normal and get a grip now. RIP Elizabeth.

LovinglifeAF · 19/09/2022 23:45

Yes. I cried a few times.

Kirsty Young at the end broke me

Does anyone else find it hard to believe that tomorrow it will be two weeks since the Queen met Liz Truss at Balmoral to appoint her as Prime Minister and then two weeks later she’s already buried?

kimchifox · 19/09/2022 23:49

Yes. I cried when they sang God save the King, I cried when they transferred her to the hearse and just played the music of the anthem - it was like the final ever God save the Queen, I cried when I saw the pony and the dogs waiting at Windsor and I cried when they showed the interviews with people in the crowd. And then I cried all over again watching the news. It's completely without logic really. It was a brilliant send off.

kimchifox · 19/09/2022 23:50

Oh yes the casting of crowns line 😭

MarmiteCoriander · 19/09/2022 23:54

I shed a few tears yes. Mixed emotions for the Queen, but also my own grandmother who died only yesterday. 😔She was a royalist and would have been watching the proceedings with me. RIP.

augustusglupe · 20/09/2022 00:00

I've cried on and off all week. I didn't cry today until we saw Emma, her horse and the corgis. Also cried again at the fading bagpipes and the coffin being lowered.

BrightBlueFlamingo · 20/09/2022 00:01

Yes I did, the corgies and Emma the pony did it for me. Also got a family funeral tomorrow so I'm a mess already.....

SenecaFallsRedux · 20/09/2022 00:28

Babyroobs · 19/09/2022 18:29

I shed a few tears when they showed the two corgis at Windsor castle. They won't understand where she has suddenly gone and now have to go and live with Andrew.

I cried for the Corgis, too. But I have had Corgis for many years, including rescues. They are resilient little dogs, and their streak of independence (a herding trait) makes them pretty adaptable. They will be fine.

Spartak · 20/09/2022 00:53

I was OK until the corgis.

I occasionally look after my nephew's dog and she keeps looking for him when he's away on school camp or wherever.

Those poor dogs won't understand that their human isn't coming back.

pogostickplastique · 20/09/2022 02:08

I think there's been a lot of 'God save the Queeiiinng' sung tbh
