What's the temperature inside your house right now?

Our heating is controlled by Hive and our thermostat is in our hall and it's showing as 16.9 degrees. The two living room radiators are 15.7 and 16.2 but bizarrely it doesn't actually feel that cold to me so the heating isn't on.

What's the temperature in your house right now and is your heating on?

Ours is cold this morning. But we do sleep with lots of windows open

jay55 · 16/09/2022 07:06

26.5 no heating on, window open.

LondonQueen · 16/09/2022 07:07

19.5, no heating on.

BirmaBrite · 16/09/2022 07:46

Not sure of the inside temperature, although it was definitely a bit cooler this morning. Outside temp was 5 degrees, when I woke up at 5.30.

Beetlewings · 16/09/2022 08:02
  1. It won't get much warmer than 17 now until next summer unless the wood burner goes on.
Marmite27 · 16/09/2022 08:14

The heating last came on some time in April! The temperature by the end of the day yesterday was 20.1, as the sun was is on the front of the house for about 8 hours.

Ours is a single skinned end terrace which looses lots of heat, so I’m always surprised when it’s warm in autumn/spring.

Our heating clicked on for the the first time since summer , promptly turned it off and put a cardi on.

Take it the 20s are more southern. Does this mean northerners are going to pay more for fuel than southerners then?

@Foldingchair

No. But they might pay for more fuel.

(& less for every thing else, especially houses/rent)

HairyMothballs · 16/09/2022 10:59

about 19 degrees (it's 13 outside) but I had the heating on for an hour earlier

TitInATrance · 16/09/2022 11:09

20.5 this morning, good roof insulation, no heating, rooms aired - I shan’t be putting the heating on for a while. Meant to switch the duvets last weekend, but still too warm sometimes with the summer one (4-seasons type).

BettyBottersBetterButter · 16/09/2022 11:19

20° here in the SE with the doors open. We're in a new build semi so pretty well insulated and cant see us needing heating on for a few months yet - that's the hope at least!

DialsMavis · 16/09/2022 11:34

20.5 downstairs, no heating.

ApolloandDaphne · 16/09/2022 11:49

It's dropped to 15.5 and I have put on the heating. It doesn't help that we have had new windows and doors put in but they have not been sealed yet so there are gaps and draughts all over.

whoruntheworldgirls · 16/09/2022 11:54

17 now 😡

Tootsey11 · 16/09/2022 12:57

15 here. Front door wide open and windows. I hate stuffy over heated houses.

greenhousegal · 16/09/2022 13:03

23 degrees on the Southside of the house where I spend most of my time. The sun is shining through the windows and warms the rooms I use. Well insulated thankfully, so even when there is no sun it rarely goes below 20 at this time of year.

I'll flick on the rads when it gets cooler and I feel cold. There's no need to do otherwise is there? So far haven't felt the need even at nighttime, and I am not afraid to put it on if necessary.

MinervaTerrathorn · 16/09/2022 20:57

16 downstairs, feels cooler upstairs. Bedroom windows open.

MotherOfPuffling · 16/09/2022 21:01

No thermostat (except on the boiler but that only shows the temp heating is set to) so no idea, but judging from how it feels, blooming cold! Am huddled under a blanket with a hot water bottle as am not putting the heating on this winter except when DD has a bath.

MotherOfPuffling · 16/09/2022 21:05

@Foldingchair I think to an extent people acclimatise, friends ‘up North’ always have houses that feel cold to me, when they think they are toasty warm! So us soft Southerners probably use as much fuel as Northerners, but have warmer houses 😊

SpringIntoChaos · 16/09/2022 21:14

No idea...I don't have digital thermostats (very jealous of you all!!). No heating on and I'm not at all cold here...fairly northern location too 🤣

Disclaimer: menopausal so there is that 🤦‍♀️

PaperMonster · 16/09/2022 21:55

North west here. No heating on yet and windows still open. 20 now in my bedroom. This afternoon it was 17.5 in my living room but felt much warmer!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 16/09/2022 22:35

I'm feeling the cold tonight (London) but the thermostat is showing 20°. I think I have got too used to the warm weather.

HookyHug · 16/09/2022 23:10

19 - in the south no heating - except maybe for some candles

Tumbleweed101 · 16/09/2022 23:23

Bedroom is 17c. No heating, sleep better when cool. Was 18c first
thing and about the same when I got home at 7pm. Windows were open. Did wear a jumper this evening but too warm for heating, nice to feel cool.

lobsterkiller · 17/09/2022 06:49

16.5 now downstairs, but it's only 7 outside. How did the weather drop so sharply lol.

I'm in Yorkshire, ive got my slippers on and dressing gown. I cannot cope with a cold house but this feels OK.
