What's the temperature inside your house right now?

Our heating is controlled by Hive and our thermostat is in our hall and it's showing as 16.9 degrees. The two living room radiators are 15.7 and 16.2 but bizarrely it doesn't actually feel that cold to me so the heating isn't on.

What's the temperature in your house right now and is your heating on?

11 degrees outside, unsure about inside but all windows open. No heating until November here

I can't believe people have heating on!!!

You can't believe that people living in different houses, built in different eras, in different ways, in different parts of the country or different countries have their heating on. Wow.

@Logoplanter I'm in the SE of England. It's 13° out. It's 18 in the lounge, 17 in the bedroom, but I've only just shut the back door & the kitchen window is open,, bathroom skylight is on 'vent' and the bedroom windows are all wide open (big windows). I was fine when I was dressed, but it was a wee bit chilly getting undressed for bed and I've just put a light blanket across the foot end of the bed as my feet were cold (and no warm body to put them on tonight!) no doubt I'll have kicked it & the duvet off before midnight! 🙄🙄

chillier in the mornings, 13 on the school run this morning.

21°C with the comfort of a flame in the log burner was 18.9 °C without , life's too short to be cold .

So typical of a MN response.

I mean people saying it's 21° and have heating on.

How do you all know the temperature?

I've no heating on and have no idea

I was wondering that too. 🤔

NothingIsWrong · 15/09/2022 23:34

20.3 deg, we haven't had the heating on since March and it's going to need to get a good bit chillier before it does go on. Thermostat is usually at 18.5

RagzRebooted · 15/09/2022 23:35

LionessesRules · 15/09/2022 21:15

20 in our bedroom, apparently.
Absolutely no need for heating. We've just moved up to the 4.5tog duvet from the 1.5 tog.
Windows have been open for much of the afternoon.

Pumkp: our alarm clock has a temperature readout.

Very similar. I was delighted to see it down to 20° in the bedroom after months of being too hot at night. I tend to have windows open even in winter, but was able to shut the bigger one yesterday. Put the duvet back on the bed this morning, but probably won't sleep with it tonight, will see.

Wearing my dressing gown for the first time in months, but I'm actually a bit too warm downstairs. No heating here for a month yet at least I expect, even then it doesn't go on in the evening unless it's under 16°.

I don’t know what the temperature is, but I’m feeling cold. Our heating’s not on.

A little update! I still don’t know what the temperature is (no digital thermostat), but I’m now in bed with a hot water bottle and lovely and warm! Smile

caringcarer · 15/09/2022 23:40

No idea, but it is not cold. I have a heated throw but not used it since March. I won't be putting on heating in September unless it is really cold.

earsup · 15/09/2022 23:43

20c...have a visitor staying from a village in Latvia....often its minus 10 etc....he says my house is cold....!!...given extra duvet and blanket....no heating yet...!!

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 15/09/2022 23:53

17 degrees throughout the house, just one room is showing 18. It's fine downstairs but the bedrooms feel freezing cold.

ThatsRoughBuddy · 16/09/2022 00:55

21°

Im in Scotland so 21° is roasting to me. Grin
The heating won’t be going on until November!

IncessantNameChanger · 16/09/2022 01:02

NewBootsAndRanty · 16/09/2022 01:50

On your phone, press and hold the 0 button

°c yay! Holding the 0 didn't work but I've just found out I have a second page of symbols!

Greycatclub · 16/09/2022 06:10

24°c in our room, 22°c in the rest of the house. No heating on, new build in SE

Hollyhead · 16/09/2022 06:15

20.4 in the hall so warmer upstairs. Definitely not heating worthy yet for us.

Climbingthelaundrymountain · 16/09/2022 06:16

20.1 degrees. Im cold tbh so have my dressing gown and a blanket on. And the dog on my lap!

Wheretheskyisblue · 16/09/2022 06:23

18.5 inside 9 degrees outside in the SE. Feeling comfortably warm, one of the few benefits of the menopause 😊

Caspianberg · 16/09/2022 06:30

It’s 13 outside, indoors it’s 21-22 depending on room. We have no heating on and windows open daytime.

We have Netatmo WiFi thermometers inside and out to measure temperatures.

We have Tado smart thermostats on radiators. It’s easier to monitor and control heating then and not use more than needed. ie dh keeps his home office cooler in winter 6pm-9am, and has radiator set to warm up just before he starts work. He can override if using room out of these hours.

MushMonster · 16/09/2022 06:34

I did not measure it, but though the air is starting to be quite chilly outside in the morning, it was really comfy in the house before I left. That is with several windows open and me wearing just a thin tshirt.
It does not feel cold at all yet, luckily.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 16/09/2022 06:35

21.4° in hallway, no heating on. We are upstairs and have bedroom windows open. Still in shorts during the day.

I find I take a while to cool down after the hot summer and am enjoying feeling any bit of cold.
South east.

MeanderingGently · 16/09/2022 06:35

20 bloody degrees. No heating on, nothing. I just live in a modern insulated flat, and I should feel lucky but I don't, I hate the heat.

I still have windows open (it's about 10 degrees outside) and my air conditioners on, they manage to cool the bedroom by pulling in the colder outside air. Even so, that only gets it down to 16 degrees, which I call a decent working temperature. I shall leave an air conditioner on today while I'm at work....

sashh · 16/09/2022 06:37

17 it feels fine to me.

Ariela · 16/09/2022 06:50

Yours is cool!
Ours is 22, no heating.
