Anyone else feel Kate was born to be a royal?

Watching the Queen's coverage all week & Kate looks like she was born for the role. (Also please don't turn this into a Meghan bashing thread, Meghan is equally beautiful & elegant but has chosen to be a non working royal which is why this thread is about Kate).
Even looking back at old school photos she looked so poised & elegant. She had an idyllic childhood, supportive parents & is doing a wonderful job in her new role.

By having a rather naff party business which earned them squillions

Party Pieces was great. It launched when my children were little and I used it for several years on the run. It was the first company that sold themed children’s party stuff. We had a dinosaur party and an under-the-sea party amongst others. Paper plates and cups and party bags and room decorations and party games, all on the same theme, by mail order (pre-internet).

It doesn’t seem like anything out of the ordinary now but it was unique then. A brilliant idea which paid off for them big time and changed the market.

@MondaysChild7 yes, apologies, I did indeed.

HeddaGarbled · 16/09/2022 01:23

She is a physicallly beautiful woman without opinions

Of course she has opinions. How patronising.

I am sure she is perfectly nice and a lovely mum. But if the Royal Family are special and have special blood then how can someone not special become queen. I do not get it. How can you take yourself seriously? They look like they are dressing up like the royal family, all the gear that looks vintage. I quite like her clothing but it is too much and like play acting. The whole charade over the last few days seems just like an invented fairy tail to show the rest of the world.

J0y · 16/09/2022 03:38

They don't have special blood.

This. She stays near here with friends but always incognito so nobody knows.

I was unaware she even had any friends besides her family

They don't have special blood.

Absolutely right.
In fact, us “ Commoners” are probably healthier than Oldskool Royals who were plagued by haemophilia due to inbreeding.
Passed down the female line.
Close marriages are never a genetically good idea.

Because they are loyal and keep their traps shut about her. Why would anyone know who her inner circle is? She keeps her own council about everything else in her life - or has no opinions depending on how you frame it - why would she be broadcasting who her mates are?

Everyone has opinions, I just imagine she doesn't assume everyone wants to hear them. Why is everyone obsessed with what her opinions are, what difference does it make?

justasking111 · 16/09/2022 07:38

Never explain, never complain.

Didn't Disraeli say that? It's stood them in good stead. Over the years

It is interesting to hear from someone who used Party Pieces at the time, thank you. It does sound a very good idea for those days and no wonder it.did well. I also think the idea for it suggests someone who is imaginative, and who has a flair for understanding families and children.

oakleaffy · 16/09/2022 07:45

I just googled Party Pieces- Seems it’s still going and is (non plastics?) based which is good.

Kate has been taught by the best and will carry on her duties with graciousness and dignity. It must have been reassuring for the Queen to have such a dutiful family member to carry on her legacy as she will one day more than likely be Queen.

LobeliaBaggins · 16/09/2022 07:48

I don't have a problem with Kate personally for not expressing opinions. Not her fault and she can't be expected to defy tradition. I have a problem with royalty across the world: Japanese, Dutch, Thai.. The " job" description for any princess is to be thin, look pretty, wear nice clothes, produce heirs, voice scripted speeches... Be a mannequin basically.

It just grates when other women in these countries are doing so much else of note and I personally would rather my daughter be anything else.

Yes, I think a mean spirited individual who quickly resorts to childish name calling when someone disagrees with them is pretty unattractive.

No childish name calling. Just a description of how a certain type of unsavoury behaviour comes across.

How would you describe someone eagerly trying to imply unpleasant things about your family while pretending to be discreet?

Arbesque · 16/09/2022 08:03

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 15/09/2022 22:00

I've told you above, in some detail.

Why are you repetitiously asking the same question?

What question am I asking repeatedly?

Stompythedinosaur · 16/09/2022 08:55

Arbesque · 15/09/2022 21:33

Is there anything more unattractive than a nose twitching gossiper dying to spread a juicy rumour while trying to pretend she's being discreet?

That nasty rumour was disproved years ago. Sorry to spoil your fun.

Just quoting your previous name calling as you seem to have forgotten about it.

There's no need for it.

That's not name calling it is a description of a particularly unpleasant type of gossiper- one who goes around insinuating stuff and nodding wisely but not actually spitting it out.
That way they can tell themselves they're being discreet while making damn sure to plant the idea in everyone's head.

It's very unattractive behaviour.

Stompythedinosaur · 16/09/2022 09:09

I'm not going to argue with you - it is there in black and white.

I'm not sure that calling other women "unattractive" is the devestating insult you think it is. Women aren't defined by their looks and their value isn't in their physical appearance.

I think you misunderstand my use of the word 'unattractive'.

Maybe the point is that she prefers to keep her private life under the radar instead of flogging it to the highest bidder?

Not everyone wants Hello prancing round at their wedding or to have "journalists" thrusting chequebooks under the noses of their friends, and not everyone views a friendship as a means of cashing in

I agree, I don't know who any of the other royal's friends are either, not sure how it's even relevant.

jrt2022 · 16/09/2022 09:27

I mean it’s hardly a tough job. I’m pretty sure I could don a nice frock and go and smile and wave and shake hands with a few people every now and then, for the life of luxury and privilege I’d get in return. 🙄

Meghan couldn't.
