Anyone else feel Kate was born to be a royal?

Watching the Queen's coverage all week & Kate looks like she was born for the role. (Also please don't turn this into a Meghan bashing thread, Meghan is equally beautiful & elegant but has chosen to be a non working royal which is why this thread is about Kate).
Even looking back at old school photos she looked so poised & elegant. She had an idyllic childhood, supportive parents & is doing a wonderful job in her new role.

I would imagine a large part of their time is/was taken up with learning what being a royal entails.

Learning about the constitution, etiquette, where and how to stand, order to enter, how to engage in small talk with the public and deeper discussions with other heads of state etc.

Teenyliving · 15/09/2022 11:48

She is a physicallly beautiful woman without opinions who smiles at the right time.

i agree that she is perfect for the role. And I say that with no sarcasm.

but the role itself is a depressing notion of what the Ideal Woman is.

Thesearmsofmine · 15/09/2022 11:48

She’s good at the job, she’s been well trained from childhood and it shows.

I disagree. She made sure she was in the right place at the right time and worked hard to get William back after they split. She appears to have her mother's tenacity. I can't warm to her.

Agreed. She looks good and doesn't express many opinions. That's all that's needed really.

This is it, I think her parents have a large part in play in Kate's demeanor. They should be given more credit, she's a wonderful asset to the country this week.

I don't see her as someone to look up to particularly. What has she achieved? What are her passions? she is supremely bland - I guess that's a talent in a way. She has a certain steely quality about her. It must be very hard in her role.

Dorisbonson · 15/09/2022 11:51

You couldn't swap

Hadjab · 15/09/2022 11:52

No.

Darcy101 · 15/09/2022 11:52

She’s very regal looking and very elegant. Comes across as a lovely person and a great mum.

Dorisbonson · 15/09/2022 11:52

You couldn't swap to St Andrews. William took a gap year and announced where he was going before he went. It was a nightmare getting in that year.

Sallyandsam · 15/09/2022 11:54

I wasn’t a fan initially, but I agree that she’s doing a great job. I liked her warmth when she was chatting to the crowds outside Windsor.

Mapletreelane · 15/09/2022 11:54

I admire her and her family. The gutter press used to rip her and her family apart, they portrayed a hard working loving family as trashy nouveau riche with a mother who pushed her daughter into marrying the Prince.

Kate and her family maintained complete dignity throughout the vitriol.

The press only let up on the Middletons when Meghan appeared and aimed their spiteful gutter minds at her and Harry.

I'm not being goody, but what has she done this week to be 'a wonderful asset to the country this week'? All she's done (as far as I'm aware) is show up to events and stand there and follow along with the other royals. The only royals to stand out so far are Charles, because he's the new King, and Anne because she's had an absolutely packed schedule and drove the long journey with the Queen's coffin. I wouldn't have noticed if she wasn't there.

Sugerfree · 15/09/2022 11:58

I like her very much. I do worry she's got a bit too thin of late though.

Yes. She was clearly determined to get the role and is determined to keep it. She's certainly a very good actress.

CoffeeIsForClosers · 15/09/2022 11:59

I have no strong feelings about the RF either way, but I couldn't take my eyes off her when they did that walkabout. She was SO elegant and poised and just beautiful to watch. Not a hair or a step out of place Envy

Meghan did look lovely too, of course. Both made their husbands look better by being there 😆

UsernameIsCopied · 15/09/2022 12:00

No.
She is basically acting in a certain role she has learned a lot about.

She wasn’t born to be a royal no. Of course not.
She was born into a very wealthy family who’s wealth is old money and stretches back.
Her family are upper middle class and that also stretches back through previous generations.
Her family were wealthy enough to have the right family connections before she was even born, and then gave her the right opportunities.
She must have the right temperament too and how she conducts herself attracted William who will have been extremely well trained in who to involve in a serious relationship.
Once in the serious relationship she has been heavily trained and prepared and alongside that she has the temperament and personality which slots right in to the royal machine.
I love the phrase she is more royal than the royals 🤣
She seems like William to me in the female form! Can’t imagine a better match and I just love the fact she wasn’t born into royalty. It’s all learned and performed.

The Middletons are not old money... they are completely self-made. When they were both working at Heathrow they lived in Southall before moving to Hampshire. And had established Party Pieces as a very successful business before the children came along. Yes James inherited some money but not until 2010. I love their success.

Moonlightdust · 15/09/2022 12:01

He hit the jackpot with Kate!

Chikapu · 15/09/2022 12:01

Tlolljs · 15/09/2022 11:35

Yeah I agree we are lucky to have her.

In what way? What exactly is she doing for us?
I think she's totally bland.

Eranzer · 15/09/2022 12:03

I also can't warm to her and I can't quite put my finger on the why! Not that my opinion matters, of course. I agree she's very elegant and oozes decorum though.
Also, lovely to see nice words about Meghan. I agree with that part too!

ShirleyPhallus · 15/09/2022 12:03

She’s very beautiful, smiles gushingly at the right times, clasps her hands and looks interested at the right times and is utterly bland and boring without her own opinions. So she’s good at her job, but it’s depressing that so many hold her up to this perfect standard when she hasn’t actually achieved or done anything.

i much prefer Zara Tindell - more a modern day princess who has her own opinions, successes and looks like she’d be a laugh

MyNoseIsCold · 15/09/2022 12:04

I disagree. I think Queen Elizabeth was an anomaly, probably because she had a relatively level headed non- royal mother who had the wisdom to hire a governess who would counterbalance the excesses of privilege with lots of very ordinary experiences and social responsibility.

Kate looks like a natural heir to the late Queen because they share similar values. But King Charles is far more royal, in the traditional sense of firing staff and stropping about pens.

LadyDanburysHat · 15/09/2022 12:04

I think she's attractive and very poised, but I also find her a bit boring. She dresses way older than her age. Long skirts and very buttoned up.
