My three year old has picked up some words and phrases from our builders....

I'm having an extension built. My son sits for hours watching the builders work. He's absolutely fascinated.

But it looks like I've let him watch them for too long without intervention. He's started to talk like a middle-aged builder.

Over the weekend, my brother visited and asked DS how he was. DS replied "Can't complain, you know how it is"

Later, we were eating tea and DS asked if he could have a Radox bath to "soak his aching bones"

I've just been told that when one of the nursery staff greeted my son this morning, he replied with "Alright geezer" and has been calling other kids at the nursery "mate" all morning.

The builders only started on Monday. They're likely to be hear for another six weeks. By the time they've finished, I think my DS will be carrying a quote book, a pencil behind his ear and doing that sucking-in-air noise that builders do before they hit you with a giant problem.

Obviously NC for this because its very outing.

When he starts getting between 12-15 points on Popmaster, can you please send him round to my house as he will be a fully qualified builder. Thanks in advance.

Has he started looking at the plumbing in your bathroom while tutting and shaking his head?

Oh FFS....... 😆😂😴

TroysMammy · 12/09/2022 12:25

That's so funny. Hope they are not sweary builders and like 3 sugars in their tea.

TwowaystoUrmston · 12/09/2022 12:27

That's hilarious OP, bless him Grin

MsTSwift · 12/09/2022 12:28

Love it so cute! We had a long build and enjoyed ear wigging on all male builders conversations when they didn’t know I was there. Mainly it was slagging off their colleagues who weren’t there and comparing who had the best recipe for lamb curry 😁

CampRedLeaf · 12/09/2022 12:28

I honestly expected him to have started swearing! Bless him.

FancyFucker · 12/09/2022 12:28

He'll be getting home and asking 'you puttin the kettle on love? 2 sugars ta' Whilst looking at the kitchen units and muttering 'ooo the bleedin 'ell put these in'

MsTSwift · 12/09/2022 12:29

My sister at a similar age maybe abit younger used to mortify our mother by asking our then builders “are you my daddy?”

nachoavocado · 12/09/2022 12:29

This has made me smile on what has so far been a gloomy day. Thank you for sharing.

Weighy · 12/09/2022 12:30

I fear the tutting and head-shaking won't be long. He's taking to wearing his toy tool belt and carrying a hammer everywhere he goes.

They're not sweary builders at all. They're lovely. They let DS help them pack up on Friday night. It made his day Smile

They are quite partial to a brew or ten, but not too sugary.

I'll keep you posted on DS' Popmaster abilities.

He’ll be requiring tea every hour, on the hour, a large slice of cake round about three ish and a special, very doorsteppy, bacon sarnie every Friday lunchtime.

FancyFucker · 12/09/2022 12:33

Loving this ❤
Can we have daily updates until they've finished the job? 🤣

That's cute. I also expected this to be your 3yo swearing like a trooper. (My dh won't allow his men to swear on site, especially when working at private homes, but they certainly make up for it when back at base!).

I chose them carefully Grin

They don't swear, they've very tidy, very respectful. If they weren't I'd be sure to keep DS away as much as possible by, well, parenting my son 😅

But because they're so lovely, I see no problem with letting DS sit at the back door watching them for hours. They're fine with it too. Wins all round.
