I ordered something with witchhazel in it from tesco
Got substituted with a Halloween witches hat. Kept it and still use it

Same order they subbed mayo with peri peri sauce.

Decades back at the beginning of online grocery shopping, I once received lemon washing up liquid instead of lemon juice, I think that was Asdas. Also used to get the odd box of chocolates if items not in stock. In the days when people questioned my sanity for ordering online LOL.

I ordered lettuce from Sainsburys once and got tomato soup as a substitute 🤣🤣
Yours is the best I've heard yet.
Maybe we should start a thread what's the silliness substitutions you've had lol. X

Kitchen towel

pattihews · 12/09/2022 22:27

No idea what you mean by a face covering. A mask?

TheWSM · 12/09/2022 23:00

Tesco substituted bread rolls for headache pills once for me…

Too funny !

One of my favourites from a similar thread on here - half a dozen barn eggs substituted with a novelty ceramic barn owl.

Every shop around here has had signs up saying "face coverings must be worn on these premises" for two years - I assumed it was a standard term at this point.

I’m awaiting tomorrow’s thread where someone says a mad woman came in “ don’t worry people,I can’t give you Covid, look I have my rolling pin!”

kateandme · 13/09/2022 00:29

For a loaf of bread I once got yeast. I thought this was really passive aggressive lol. For a while I felt really judged!

@ClownSchool

So amazon exorcist you to do what exactly with your room of pumpkin seeds instead of bleach?

I pour black on the weeds that come up between the slabs on my patio, so should I be sprinkling pumpkin seeds there instead?

I guess my dog could play in the pumpkin patch instead of the weeds.

Hand Sanitisers or Toilet Roll

ClownSchool · 13/09/2022 09:27

I’m not quite sure @Harmonypuss - I can’t imagine they’ll be much use when I’m mopping the utility room floor! Maybe I’m supposed to snack on them and they’ll give me the energy to scrub harder?

You're going to think I'm really pedantic, but in most shops I go into it says 'Masks must be worn.' Some do say face-coverings, I admit.

To me, a face covering could be anything from something some Muslim women wear for cultural or religious purposes, to a buff pulled up to the nose when entering a shop, or a scarf, right down to masks of various qualities — fabric, FFP2s etc. Having grown wise to the ways on online shopping over the last two years, I've learned to be really specific.

Thanks Op, I really needed a laugh today.
sainsburys once substituted a pack of uncooked chicken breasts with a packet of tongue and I thought that was bad enough.

Medical gauze and a bandage roll?
